We went back to iContact

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use iContact to send out bulk emails to our potential/customer base. We use iContact statistics to tailor our marketing campaigns.

Pros and Cons

  • Maintains the list of contacts.
  • Allows us to segment or divide our contacts up into targeted lists.
  • Provides a dashboard with statistics for marketing insights.
Edit
  • Deleting contacts is not easy and if you make a mistake it is not easy to fix.
  • Finding and reusing messages is not easy.
  • Adding/manipulating blocks is sometimes frustrating to get the look you want in a message.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are just creating marketing emails and sending them out, iContact works great. If you want fancy templates we think you'll need to work to make that happen. If you want a comprehensive solution this might not be for you. Definitely researching the feature set - so far for us the features have worked pretty well.

iContact -- A Great for Small Business Users

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

IContact was used in a previous engagement with a mid-sized business client. It was used only by the Marketing department to solve a couple of business challenges. They needed to be able to send email messages to a select number of contacts in a specific region in order to inform them of upcoming events and engage them for sales conversations. They needed a platform that would allow them to quickly launch ad-hoc email marketing campaigns to subscribers and identify potential opportunities based on an analysis of the results. The solution needed to be simple to use and affordable. iContact fit the requirements for this client initiative and I was in charge of implementing and managing the activities within iContact to meet our objectives.

Pros and Cons

  • A quick campaign creation process.
  • Easy to use interface.
  • Hundreds of attractive email templates.
Edit
  • There's a limited amount of storage space for images.
  • Their subscriber-based pricing can get high really fast.
  • The email customization options are limited.

Likelihood to Recommend

iContact is not the best solution for those with over 10,000 email subscribers. The lack of features does not compare to other solutions with a similar price point. This is also not ideal for those who want to have a lot of customization options when it comes to the content of their emails. However, they do offer hundreds of templates, which is a better option for those needing a quick and simple email campaign, especially where visual appeal is a priority. The email templates are very modern and sleek and would be a good fit where this is of high importance. iContact would be perfect for small business users, but mid-sized organizations may find it does not meet their needs. Enterprises are likely to have requirements that are overgrown for the iContact solution.

iContact - a good, email marketing workhorse

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use iContact to manage all our email communications with our 75k+ subscribers. We utilize the automated workflows for drip campaigns, welcome messages, and our monthly newsletters.

Pros and Cons

  • Email template design.
  • Workflow automation.
  • Scheduled delivery.
Edit
  • Interface can use an upgrade.
  • Email designer can use a fresher design too.
  • Would have liked to see functions we could put on our website (popups) instead of using 3rd party.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a workhorse for basic email management. If you are getting started in building your platform out it's pretty easy to work with. As you explore other products you may find that you wish it had more functionality. Statistics are a bit limited whereas other newer products may give you more insight into the behavior of your audience. Regardless, I was pretty satisfied with the platform.

iContact saves me time!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am the only user in our company and I use it to send out mass emails to our members.

Pros and Cons

  • It allows me to send out large quantities of emails at one time.
  • It allows me to make my newsletters interesting.
Edit
  • I'd like to know how to attach links to the emails.

Likelihood to Recommend

iContact is sometimes not user-friendly.

"iContact creates beautiful emails very easily"

What do you like best?

Drag and drop editor is super easy and user friendly

What do you dislike?

Not completely synced with Salesforce. I would prefer if it was a 2 way sync.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Easy to use for the amateur marketing consultant, works well with Salesforce.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are now able to create emails that go out to our donors, applicants, etc that are beautiful, contain photos, videos and links.

iContact for union member communication

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use iContact for all mass email communication with our union membership. It is much easier than maintaining our own mass email system and prevents us from risking blacklisting our domain. It provides many templates to choose from and allows us to create our own templates with our own style to maintain a recognizable branding.

Pros and Cons

  • Usability
  • List management
Edit
  • Editor needs improvement.

Likelihood to Recommend

iContact is well suited for regular contact with a list of members that is fairly stable. If your list includes people who may come on and off and back on again, it can be difficult to maintain. The service does not seem to allow the upload of purchased lists of any sort, even though legally allowed (under certain circumstances).

What do you like best?

The thing I liked best with iContact was the easy ux

What do you dislike?

It seems like as competitors like MailChimp grew in the scope of features and functionality iContact just seems dated

Compare to other leading solutions

"An effective tool for marketing through email."

What do you like best?

IContact makes working and reaching thousands of contacts simple thanks to the intuitive interface it makes available to us. It allows you to send emails in each advertising campaign that we undertake unlimitedly and your technical support is 100% effective always attending to every requirement that comes along the way. In a few minutes it is possible to mount an email with the help of predesigned templates that allow you to simply fill in and get results immediately. To handle IContact it is not necessary to have great knowledge in HTML language. In addition, the drag and solar function makes everything look easier.

What do you dislike?

We had some problems with template reformatting when we opened the software from our mobile devices. Sometimes they do not adapt to the phone screen. However, we have contacted the technical assistance service to report these failures and they have helped us.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

IContact is aimed at those bold people who recognize email as an alternative to marketing. Although social networks have become the favorite space to offer the services and products of any company, you cannot forget the email that has undoubtedly become the main work tool of the majority of the population. With IContact your company will be able to position itself and the best thing is that you can manage the software yourself.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

IContact has allowed us to get to where it had not been possible before. Today we gain ground in email marketing and reach thousands of contacts which has resulted in a greater positioning of our brand and in the rapid increase of our sales. Personally I am pleased with everything IContact has given me. It has helped me to grow professionally and my business has allowed greater profits.
