Squarespace: website creation made easy

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Squarespace is used to share media mostly - blog and vlog posts. There is also a page that links to your use as well as a standard contact option. Squarespace allows for easy dissemination of social media posts as well as a convenient way to share thoughts, ideas, and motivation.

Pros and Cons

  • It's easy to design a bold, colorful and eye-catching website.
  • There are multiple avenues for creation and maintenance - web and app.
  • The user interface is easy to understand and requires very little learning and/or trial and error.
Edit
  • The mobile app lacks certain customization and editing options are native in the web app.
  • It would be nice to log-in and automatically be routed to your domain, instead of having to select it.
  • While it's easy to use, certain tasks take multiple clicks - it would be nice if there as a "Favorites" option to quickly access the areas you use most.

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is well-suited for just about any online endeavor - be it a personal blog or vlog, a small- business store front, or a large scale website for a larger company. It's so simple to use a template to put something together - for a corporate campaign for example - that it's really a no-brainer.

Squarespace - A Beautiful, Affordable Website Platform for Nonprofits

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Squarespace is the software that my organization uses for building our website. For small non-profits like ours, Squarespace is an excellent tool. It is intuitive, easy to use, and easy to add new pages. We can't all have IT experts on our team, so this allows us to still have an awesome-looking website while requiring minimal technical knowledge.

Pros and Cons

  • It is intuitive. I have little IT knowledge but easily picked it up.
  • It integrates well with other software. This allows us to seamlessly host our Donate page and scheduling system.
Edit
  • Honestly I have yet to see a drawback, at least for my organization.

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is well-suited to an organization that has little technical knowledge and yet wants a powerful tool to present its message on the Internet. It has user-friendly tools for designing pages, but also includes the flexibility to change the design with back-end coding if the user has the knowledge (or research skills) to do so.

Squarespace is the Best Choice for Small Business Websites

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Squarespace as a website portfolio and sales tool. Squarespace allows me to easily update my website and to build professional sites quickly. It is a closed-source platform, so inherently more secure than open-source platforms, and I moved to Squarespace from WordPress several years ago and haven't looked back.

Pros and Cons

  • Fast website development based on templates.
  • Built-in, onsite SEO.
Edit
  • The new, 7.1 version of Squarespace is, at the moment, a step backward from 7.0 and missing some key features.
  • Squarespace Campaigns integration is lacking (cannot join a mailing list from a contact form).

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is particularly well-suited for entrepreneurs or small businesses who want to be able to update and maintain their websites themselves. It is perfect for service-based businesses like small law firms, therapists, etc, or as a portfolio for interior designers or homebuilders.

Squarespace is not ideal for large e-commerce operations (tax can be problematic depending on region).

Helpful Presets Without Sacrificing Vision

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I run my website on Squarespace. I am able to tell my story, feature my blog, embed my scheduling system and explain my services all in one place. I can also be contacted, can have people subscribe to receive updates and emails, and can use it as a storefront. Squarespace solves all of my website needs.

Pros and Cons

  • Customize the look to match my brand.
  • Integrate with Acuity Scheduling.
Edit
  • A CRM feature in the backend would be amazing.
  • The ability for my clients to log into a personal dashboard would be amazing, too.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need to build a website — Squarespace can probably help you achieve whatever it is you want or need. Businesses, ministries, churches, stores, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, actors, bloggers, job-seekers, engaged couples... whoever and whatever! Virtually anyone can use this easy and customizable platform to create whatever kind of website they need. Seriously.

Simple & Powerful Website Platform

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Squarespace is being used by entire company. Simplicity is key to maintaining business efficiency and productivity—Squarespace offers huge wins here. We not only use the platform for our organization, we implement it for other small to mid-size businesses. As a marketing professional and designer, there is comfort and clarity with an all-inclusive platform for managing our website.

Pros and Cons

  • Reliability: Never worry about plugins breaking or other technical issues that plague other platforms.
  • Customization: There is a deeper level of customization available in Squarespace than many realize when leveraging Custom CSS and the Squarespace community.
Edit
  • Limits: There are design elements that are easier to create with other platforms, but you can usually find workarounds on Squarespace.
  • Price: An all-inclusive platform comes with a higher price tag, but it is well worth the investment.

Likelihood to Recommend

Squarespace is perfect for a small to midsize business that wants a website that's easy to manage all on their own. An enterprise level company should definitely look toward other platforms to meet their needs, but Squarespace can be a great fit for many other businesses. The decision should be based on the features and functionality you need. Many businesses just need a website that's reliable, simple, and professional.

"Will Recommend to Anyone Looking for an Easy But Professional Looking Website Setup."

What do you like best?

Squarespace gets a ton of things right with its platform. For one thing, they include the intricacy of designing your own website page-by-page without the headache (or needing the knowledge) of coding the entire thing yourself. It's the best of both worlds, because if there's something you WANT to code, you can do that too!

What do you dislike?

The learning curve is a big one, for sure. It took me a couple of months to truly understand all of the aspects that it had to offer, so it does take some time investment (or trial by fire, i.e. me redesigning two websites with specifics on short notice) on the front end to get comfortable with.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use. Their. Customer. Service. To. Your. Benefit. There is nothing they have not been able to help me with (or at least give me a concrete reason as to why something isn't working other than "we just can't do that")

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Squarespace has unparalleled customer support, so even when there is something I don't understand, I've been able to quickly find the resources that I need (which helps me to never take excellent customer service for granted). This allows me to never have to dwell on a single problem for too long, which helps me to keep my design time efficient.

"Wanted to love, but didn't"

What do you like best?

Squarespace offers some beautiful templates and I cannot say enough great things about the way they look. Design is top-notch.

What do you dislike?

Customization for new users is almost non-existent. I did not appreciate being locked into their way of doing things. Much prefer Wix to Squarespace for this reason. Reminds me of Rapidweaver which I loved back in the day before online website editors became available everywhere.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

They offer a free trial and so I genuinely would suggest trying Squarespace and Wix side by side so you can compare and find the one that works the best for you. You will quickly understand how you yourself prefer to work and which one will work best for you.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We tried creating some of our websites using Squarespace (we make plenty per year for different new ventures). However, we were not very impressed. Will say that if you do not know how to make a website look great you will love this. EASY TO USE AND WILL LOOK GREAT, but NO CUSTOMIZATION.

"Squarespace is a little difficult to navigate."

What do you like best?

I like that you can use it to manage email accounts for a business. Really helps a small business.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that it seems a little unorganized and not the most user friendly.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Definitely look at it before you decide to use it and make sure everything makes sense to you. Everyone is different, and this just did not make sense to me.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As much as I've used it, it seems to serve the purpose well, just could be a little easier to use. I have switched companies and no longer use this software, but I thought it was important to share my opinion.
