I have been using Take Control since switching from Logmein and aside from the deep price savings, I am very pleased with the ease of use and the continued product improvement. Also, having 500 devices included in base price is a real plus. The product has many features and is definitely worth a look.
Not providing a msi for large rollouts. Product is a bit clunky for agentless setup in a one time help desk scenario. Also, having to use a third party app for multi-factor authentication is not ideal.
I am able to remotely access systems for direct user support and access systems for maintenance at off hours.
We have been using solarwinds take control for years. Its strongest suits are staying connected even on slow internet connections and having a good set of tools while connected. My favorite tools are changing client resolution, keystroke forwarding, changing to RDP connection, and file transferring. when paired with the solarwinds dashboard and Agent, Take Control acts like a background tool that pops up when you need it. It installs quickly on new devices and has been the most reliable remote software we have ever used.
There are some features that would greatly improve the overall usefulness. Wake on Lan and better Monitor switching. There are many times in the daily workflow where a clients PC falls asleep after hours and there is no one on-site to wake it up or power it back on. I wish solar winds could integrate their WOL software directly into the dashboard, even if it automatically uses another pc on the network.
I would also like to see improvements in multi-monitor viewing. As it stands all we get is a small window to manually click between. I wish there was an option to put the monitors into separable windows and place them on my own dual monitor setup, Or move them to two smaller windows on the same screen.
Remotely supporting clients helps save on response time and cuts on travel expenses.
Installation is perfect for the end users. Very simple setup and seamless integration! All the controls that you expect like file transfer, terminal window, WOL, multi-display compatibility, etc.. Solarwinds definitely makes the best service that we've utilized on Mac devices. There's nothing that compares to how easy it is for them to install.
We've had some recent issues during Windows updates that may require a user restart their computer to get the Take Control service running, again. The online portal is goofy and it would be great if it looked like the console, which is far more functional.
Look at Take Control for software that feels like it's designed for big business, but is priced and available to the little guys. You will not be disappointed by the features and service.
We mainly use Solarwinds as our backup to our RMM solution remote connections. It's a perfectly priced addition to our RMM costs. We love that the pricing is based on technician count and not unit endpoints.
SolarWinds Take Control is a great remote software for everyday use. There are better options out there though.
I have noticed when I remote in, the users screen looks blurry on my end, I can manage but still, it is a bit annoying.
Remote Desktop Sessions
Take Control is lightweight and easy to install.
Take Control heartbeat will fail occasionally making it hard to connect to clients.
Take Control makes it simple to quickly hop onto a problem device and resolve issues. PassPortal integration and other shortcuts add value to this remote control tool.
Very easy to use. Functional. Fits our needs.
Mobile has some issues on iOS and doesn't allow control, only viewing.
Remote Control for clients.
It just works every single time. Across Windows and OS X. It is incredibly reliable.
I wish I could use it on iOS and Android.
Faster resolution to customer support issues without having to walk the end users through connection to me.
Ease of use
integrated into the N-able product
There's nothing I actually dislike in this product
Usually desktop related issues/licencing issues etc
It is very intuitive and easy to use. The system info page for each device you remote into is spectacular. The ability to generate the "calling cards" has opened up a new way for us to provide remote service to end users who do not want to purchase a contract.
There is not a whole lot that I dislike about the software. The main thing I would like to see is that when you connect to a computer it goes right to the remote control page instead of the chat function.
This product has allowed us as a company to provide better more secure remote support to companies that are not currently under our management. Another benefit is that we no long have to send customers to an unbranded free remote connection software, which gives our end users more confidence in the service they are receiving.
I like how user friendly the interface is for take control. I also enjoy how simple it is to setup and to implement it on our clients computers.
It is also a very handy tool as I am able to remote into my clients computers with a laptop or a tablet using take control.
The update process with take control is hit or miss. There will be one good update that fixes bugs, and then the next update will create new bugs that we have to work around.
We are solving the problem of how to access our clients computers the most effectively. A huge benefit has been not having to work clients through on how to allow us to connect to their computer.
