Sysomos is a very simple tool, there is nothing hidden part in it, you have to simply put a query and other filters and you'll get the result. I started my career in analytics then i first used Sysomos as a tool and it helped me understand analytics more. Simplicity is its key point whereas there are too many filters which can extract exact data which we want, Data visualization is also good which includes word cloud, demographics. Analytics metrics visualization is also far better than other tools, we can easily find out everything on Sysomos.
First of all data extraction limit is low, means we can only extract a limited data. Sometimes it malfunctions like the wrong date of data or sometimes data missing, so Sysomos have to work on it. Server down problem is very common with Sysomos.
If you are new to analytics then its a perfect tool and its cheap enough for a medium and small industry so one can use it , it is very easy to use and meet all requirement. It's data visualization is far better than other tools
Data visualization become easy and Hashtag analysis use to be a major problem but Sysomos resolved it efficiently. As it is very easy to use one can add multiple things in there reports like demographics analysis, word cloud analysis, heat points, device compatibilty. In short it is rich with many data information

Sysomos is amazing at monitoring media mentions overall. It pulls in data from everywhere. I also love that there is a query builder -- so if you're not great at building queries to help you search for what you're looking for, there is a tool built-in that will help you develop the query for your search. I also love all the analytics tools -- such as influencer identification. It's really helpful in finding out whether search results are relevant to the company.
It can be difficult to build specific queries - so if you don't know to eliminate some words, unrelated results can be pulled into searches. However, it's trial and error - so overall, this doesn't bother me. I find Sysomos extremely useful.
Sysomos is great for real-time media monitoring and results. I love the immediacy of the product and the information/results it provides. It's also able to recognize influential accounts to help users understand who's talking about a specific topic or area of interest.
Sysomos helps us quickly find information on specific queries. Instead of building dashboards (which, it can also do), if something happens that I need information on immediately, I can put that into Sysomos and find out how it's trending. I can also then watch over time to see how stories gain traction. It gives immediate results, which is important for crisis management.

The ease of use is probably the the best attribute. I work with a lot of other social listening platforms due to the licenses our clients have but always double check their results against Sysomos, as I feel the most comfortable with the results and how to use it to solve different tasks.
I think Sysomos could do more with audience segmentation and consumer insights. I think Netbase has a bit of headway on this feature.
1) Crisis management for brands who have negative articles written about them.
2) Content planning to help inform brand campaigns
I realize that Sysomos is able to help determine how the target audience talks about a certain subject that is important to our client and we are able to educate and redirect the brand messaging to be more authentic and relatable to the consumer.
The core search function works well and provides immediate insight into almost any marketing question we have.
Everything else. The platform for Expion, in particular, can be kindly described as clunky and all the functions have issues with bugs. Other features surrounding the main search engine are "broken" too often or are otherwise missing obvious connections to other parts of the platform (i.e. search functions within engagement area).
I would recommend using the Search function, but not any other aspects of the platform - it may be better to use multiple vendors until Sysomos/Meltwater make major updates to ancillary features.
We are monitoring brand reputation, finding influencer contacts, monitoring campaigns and segmenting our audiences. The insights from the core search and report functions have been incredibly important to that effort.

Great for keeping track of what people are saying about your brand, and for tracking online discussions. Email notifications let me be warned of potential risks as they happen, so we can respond quickly. Also great for ad hoc searching, which is valuable to research and strategy planning.
Would love to see a live update feature for listening, so that we can always see the latest posts right away. Stronger connections with forums and Reddit would also be useful for monitoring conversations and how the evolve on those platforms.
We use Sysomos to ensure we are keeping up with the latest trends online, and that we can see what people are saying about our business and it's services. Reporting on events, campaigns, or crisis' utilize the data and analytics found in Sysomos to give an idea of the public perception. Using posts found in Sysomos allow us to add a voice to what people are saying vs. a number.
We worked with Sysomos since 2010 and have had nothing but good experiences with them. They are great to work with and continually update the platform.
I would like to see a more unified code for all aspects of the platform instead of multiple different interfaces for different components.
They are a great, cost-effective solution that does exactly what you'd expect it to do. I would recommend you consider them for your social software needs.
