Switched from Logmein and never looked back

After using Logmein and having prices hiked up to stupid money I switched to Splashtop about 4 years ago now.I provide IT support for my clients so rely on it everyday and it works great. As long as they don't get greedy and hike up the price I will happily remain a customer.

"Splashtop is great for supporting remote users"

What do you like best?

Super simple to use and deploy and was actually quite cheap compared to many others

What do you dislike?

When the users connect to our VPN it drops the connecting and we have to do a full reconnect

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We used to use VNC which was both insecure and difficult to manage as you had to ask the users for their IP address, and they had to be on the VPN. With Splashtop we can access the users via a big list of names in groups even and they simply just have to be on the internet.

Beware! Their software contains malware

Beware. I am a self employed Helpdesk Engineer and I downloaded this software as an alternative to Teamviewer as it's quite a lot cheaper. I would hazard a guess that this is a rogue company. Not only does their software contain malware, it blocks the installation of anti virus software. Their certification is out of date (SHA256 authentication) and their helpdesk is fake - kept in 4th place of a non existent queue for over half an hour. I'm very glad I didn't subscribe.

"Inexpensive, fast, and great staff/support behind it"

What do you like best?

Splashtop creates stable, fast connections with even the slowest of my organization's connections and hardware. The price is a true value, especially when compared to the rest of the market. The support has been fast, helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant so far!

What do you dislike?

Right now I have an intermittent issue with new installations where switching users will disable Splashtop. It doesn't seem to be a widespread issue and I'm working with Splashtop support to try and isolate what's occurring. They have been phenomenal through the support process and very patient with me.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I was hesitant because there are quite a few vendors out there offering remote services, but Splashtop has been excellent to work with and I don't regret my decision. If you're still on Logmein, just do it--swap to Splashtop and don't look back.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I have sites up and down the east coast and through the middle states that I cannot physically support. With splashtop, I have been able to single-handedly support all of these sites, doing remote office installations and providing fast assistance/correction throughout the small office environments.

READ THIS I have been working with JIM cyber software marketing tool for over a year now (first as the Head of Content at a Marketing Agency and now as the Marketing Director of a SaaS start-up) and still rate his service as the best.The tool offers a lot of functionality, but is still intuitive enough to use for junior marketers to learn the ropes quite quickly. There are some limitations in terms of how the data is managed - everything is tracked on contact level rather than a company level which can be tricky and B2B - but the workflows allow you to work around quite a lot of these problems. My experience with Jim cyber support team has also been exceptional. They are always happy to help and genuinely work with you to find solutions to tough technical challenges.Don’t waste money on this software they do not work they will keep charging you for auto renewal. Splashtop is a Fantastic Remote Support Tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have many roaming users with laptops and Windows tablets and our helpdesk and network team needed a way to easily remotely support these devices so we purchased Splashtop. Splashtop has made it incredibly easy for our teams to remote right into any Windows PC as long as they simply are connected to the internet. Before we used some software that required them to be on the VPN first, and then give us their IP address, so it was very cumbersome to assist the users and this fixed that problem.

Pros and Cons

  • Easy to use software.
  • Allows remote support of the machines even off VPN.
Edit
  • If the users make a VPN connection while we are connected, it drops the connection momentarily, It would be nice if they could somehow fix that as I know I've heard of other software that does not have that issue.
  • Would be nice if we could remotely push the client from the admin UI.

Likelihood to Recommend

Splashtop has a great pricing model for both small and large groups so really if you have a need to support remote users with laptops/tablets, etc, I think it's well suited for anybody. It's actually kind of surprising how cheap it is and even if you have to bump up to higher tiers over time the price doesn't seem to jump that much. I think really any business needing something like this will find it cost-effective.

"Works great, very happy."

What do you like best?

Grouping, multi monitor, file transfers and allowing other users to access their computers are the top features we utilize. We also are making use of the deployment codes and setting group policies to deploy client installs.

What do you dislike?

The phone app breaks when you collapse groups.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Price is great, deployment is easy and the feature set is outstanding.

Remote support for all my clients. We also really enjoy the added SOS feature.

"Splashtop is great for Remote Support!"

What do you like best?

Ease of use. Ability to add users as needed for them to remote into machines.

What do you dislike?

It's not really a dislike but maybe a feature suggestion....the ability to lock the install to the PC so users can't uninstall without the right credentials.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were able to replace a more expensive product with Splashtop. And it even gives us more options than the service we replaced!

"Beats all expectations"

What do you like best?

The ability to zoom in while using the mobile app and not being kicked out of a remote session if someone else on my team remotes in to the same PC I am in.

What do you dislike?

Until I found the portable windows app I disliked having to install the client on every PC i wanted to remote from. With the portable app it is a lot easier.

Go ahead with it.
