Microsoft Office 365 Security Issues

Microsoft Office 365 Security IssuesMy Microsoft Office 365 account was hacked, somehow a 3rd party set up a user account for themselves within my account. I worked in IT for almost 40 years and my passwords were secure so my thoughts on how this happened are probibly best not shared.Irony is I am an MCSE with Mail several times over, plus other stuff. Anyway, I asked MS to get rid of the unwanted account but best they would do was freeze my account for 30 days to allow the other party to appeal. Seriously, the other party hacked MY account and had no evidence he belonged there.About 15 days into the 30 the hacker re-enabled the account gifted a £50 game to a mate, at my expense, and removed himself. Microsoft are not helping and I am out £50, I am waiting to see what my bank and the police say. Weird thing is I have email addresses for both the hacker and the recipient of the gift, the obstacle is Microsoft who are failing to take this seriously and I am unable to get my money back because Microsoft refuse to become involved.

HONTE !!

HONTE !!!

Microsoft Office 2016 or 365 confusing

Microsoft Office 2016 or 365 now being renamed Microsoft 365. This is typical of Microsoft causing total confusion with the products. Now because of this DAFT renaming it it causing utter confusion when it come time to renew.i have had a 5 user version for 5 years now. I always purchase another subscription ahead of time (usually when on sale on Amazon or elsewhere. Normally is a simple case of entering the new product code and away we go, Hey ho Microoft has said thats too simple lets mess this one up like Windows 10. Got into my MS account entered code as in previous years. Now instead of carrying on hassle free oh no it insist on downloading and re-installing in spite of the fact it was allready up to date!It messed up Outlook on my laptop and then totally messed it up on my wifes laptop. It has taken me hours to sort out the muddle the totally goofy renewal did. Now I see that come 21st April (why not do it on the 1st April?) it will now be Microsoft 365 instead of office 365. Add to this the utter confusing renaming Hotmail & Livemail to Outlook.com confusing it with Outlook the mail program. Try getting an Outlook.com e-mail address to work within Outlook the mail program - impossible)What in the in the world is Microsoft up to. They seem to have lost their way and intent on causing the utmost confusion and making their product as frustrating and time wasting as possible. Try to get help - forget it - Only option is a totally goofy automated bot- If you put daft enough questions in it you eventually get a live chat - but I gave up at that point.

Must have product!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Microsoft Office 365 is used daily in my organization. It is a very important product to my organization. For example, my organization uses Sharepoint as a tool to access group files remotely. It has allowed us to keep track of Operations, Finances, and Sales. Also, it also has allowed us to present very important information each quarter to our investors as well.

Pros and Cons

  • Presentation to audiences.
  • Allows strategic decision making.
Edit
  • Allows documents to be accessed remotely.

Likelihood to Recommend

Microsoft Office 365 can be very useful to a wide range of organizations such as businesses and education. Microsoft Office 365 has the flexibility to be useful to almost everyone. For example, Excel can be useful for both the Operations and Finance departments.

Worth the investment!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Microsoft Office 365 is used in my organization daily. Microsoft Office 365 plays a very important role in my department's success. My department uses specifically Microsoft Excel. This product is very useful for my department because my department manages our organization's finances. Without Microsoft Office 365, it would be very difficult to manage our day to day tasks.

Pros and Cons

  • Ability to customize important documents and reports.
  • Allows strategic decision making.
Edit
  • Ability to password protect specific slides and line items in files.
  • Pricing

Likelihood to Recommend

Microsoft Office 365 is well suited for a very wide large group of audiences. Currently, every department in my organization uses Microsoft Office 365 daily. This includes Accounting, Operations, and Sales. I believe Microsoft Office 365 can also be well suited for educational audiences as well. Microsoft Office 365 can be very helpful for both teachers and students as well.

Unreliable email service

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Overall, the pricing and packaging are admirable. My main reason for going for Outlook 365 was to have a reliable email service. My previous provider had issues and was looking for an email service provider. I was hoping Outlook 365 would not have those issues. with the matter of reliability am surely not impressed. Emails started having issues after some time. One of the team members has emails getting delivered to the mailboxes. Contact and support with the office support team took a good time but got resolved. It seemed they forgot to whitelist their own emails.
So we sent out emails to our clients again to make sure they reach. This works.
Now another 15 days down the line I am getting complaints from the customer that they scheduled an appointment via email and I never got it. I figured out a lot of our emails were not getting delivered. Spent some time with the support person they want the email message-ids of all emails that were not delivered. How would I get all those? I decided that it was time to move on. Still extremely excited with Microsoft Teams and have made it part of our company process with free SharePoint and other services on the cloud.

Pros and Cons

  • Lots of freebies like Sharepoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
  • Easy to set-up some good features needed but was easy set-up.
  • Outlook client is very convenient.
  • Calendar integrations well done. One of the best way to set-up meetings.
Edit
  • Disappointed by the reliability of email service for which I came for.
  • Customer service agent were trained but not experts and had to change a couple of times by opening the tickets again with different customer service.
  • Teams meeting don't have call-in or call-me options.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would recommend this for teams but would highly not recommend anyone to move email service as its extremely unreliable. Lots of important emails got missing. I thought it may be one or 2 trivial incidents but when it became consistently unreliable had to move on. I will keep some services for teams and SharePoint but not for emails.

My Office 365 Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Office 365 is used throughout our organization. We utilize all the features our license allows. We currently have 20,000+ users. We moved from on prem exchange to Office 365 a few years ago and haven't looked back. Support provided from Microsoft is top notch.

Pros and Cons

  • The storage we are offered through Office 365 is more than we could ever offer using an on prem solution.
  • Teams has become one of our top tools for users.
  • It is very easy to manage through the office admin center.
Edit
  • We sometimes have some lag with emails. Our users expect emails as soon as they are sent and are a little disappointed.
  • We are a hybrid environment and have some issues with on prem nested groups.
  • Users need to have excessive rights to attach items to Calendar Events.

Likelihood to Recommend

Office 365 is well suited for us where storage is at a prime. We have 10TB of OneDrive storage for all users as well as a 50GB mailbox. To achieve that level of storage on premise for 20,000 users would not be possible, both for cost and actual storage. We recently implemented Teams and it is great for collaborating.

Great Value 365 days a year

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have multiple users in our company who use Office 365. Microsoft Office is one of those products they you really can't work without. One of the greatest benefits of using Office 365 is that it is always current with the latest version or updates. It's also great that you can install it on multiple computers, for instance I have it installed on my desktop and my laptop using the same license. Another great feature that is not mentioned much is that it comes with 1TB of online storage with OneDrive.

Pros and Cons

  • Always up to date.
  • Available as an installation or online.
  • Comes with 1TB storage via OneDrive.
  • Always current.
Edit
  • Outlook is too busy and not always easy to set up.
  • Wish it included Visio.
  • Doesn't always work well if internet connection is bad (unless you install on your PC).

Likelihood to Recommend

Office 365 is great for small businesses or for personal use. I can not think of really any reason why you would get office in any other form. If you are in a larger environment it might be better to look at volume licensing to reduce the overall cost of the licensing.

The same powerful Office experience but with cloud capabilities

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Office 365 is being used by my company across the organization, although it is currently being offered only to senior employees.

It is particularly useful for people who are on the go and need to be able to access their documents and emails from wherever they may be. Not only does Office 365 come with loads of cloud storage, it gives access to SharePoint, Teams, OneNote and many other applications.

Pros and Cons

  • Access to all our documents using OneDrive for Business.
  • Ability to collaborate live with colleagues on documents that are shared with the whole team.
Edit
  • The prompts to sign in to all the different office suite products via pop-ups is annoying. This should be fixed through a single sign on solution.
  • Office 365 needs to fix some syncing issues when collaborating with others on a document.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is highly suited for a corporate company with medium or large-sized teams. Smaller companies may be better off using G Suite, but Office 365 adds structure, professionalism, and reliability to the mix. If a company needs to make its mobile workers more productive, Office 365 is a great option.
