"It is a free tool that connects a lot of things and is constantly getting better."

What do you like best?

It's a free tool, it connects directly with other Google products, it can connect with other non-Google products, its easily sharable, and can make data very digestible.

What do you dislike?

You really need to use (and pay for) third part connectors to get the full use out of it. The Google connectors it has still doesn't show everything that the platforms show, in some cases, I have had to use the third party tools to connect to Google products to show the one thing I wanted to show on the report.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Invest the time to create the report (which can take a while) if it means you don't have to keep making the same report later on. The initial time sink can be well worth the incremental time shifts. Plus if you have several other reports from other clients that are very similar, you can create one as a template and save time on those later reports too!

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Client report that provides data in an automated way. A client can look at a report and check metrics from 1 week, 1 month, 1 quarter, 1 year, or any other date range they want. All from the same report. No putting in requests for that data to be pulled.

"The best reporting tool on the market (and it's free)!"

What do you like best?

I really like how Google Data Studio reports are so customizable. Whether you're updating the theme colors, page sizing, chart settings, etc. - there are endless ways to create a report. At our digital marketing agency, we've been able to take our reports to the next-level with the help of data studio. I like that this works seamlessly with so many native and third-party data connectors. The fact that you can retroactively update data and share with clients is incredible.

What do you dislike?

If you have many data sources (and blended data sources) connected to the report it can really slow down both the editing and loading aspects. My company has a few very robust reports and they are just a hastle to update because it loads so slowly - especially if you have multiple people editing the report simultaneously.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Google Data Studio is a great option if you are looking for a lot of customization.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Google Data Studio reports have really helped us connect the dots across all of our digital marketing initiatives for our clients. One issue that Google Data Studio has been great at solving is combining various data sets into one source. We are able to do this with blended data and it helps make the data even more clear to show trends and results. Additionally, we are able to show clients their data in a way that is digestible and easy to understand.

"Brilliant Software - Transformed our reporting"

What do you like best?

How it automatically brings in data from other google softwares such as google analytics and google search console and combines these all together in one place. It's also great how it constantly updates this data without any manual work from us. We can also bring in our own data using google sheets which is brilliant for keeping all of the information in one report.

What do you dislike?

Currently there isn't much i dislike, it does take a small amount of time to get used to how it work.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would highly recommend using google data studio, it will make your life easier.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Everyone can view our reporting through one link which also doesn't have to be manually updated by us.

"Great flexibility in Analytics"

What do you like best?

Amazing variety of charts and possibilities.

Options to publish or embed reports is a real-life saver in making custom dashboards.

What do you dislike?

Would like it more if there would be a way to create and share reports via API

The charts can have better labeling options. No way to automate the process for multiple users.

The connector review process is also slightly long

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Providing custom analytics on the usage of our product to users

"Great product with ease of use"

What do you like best?

The tool is completely customisable and can houses unlimited tables and pages. Has amazing speed and accessibility

What do you dislike?

Reports can be read-only online and delivery automation is absent. It works seamlessly with other Google services but have limited connections to other data sources

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Excellent tool for data visualisations and analytics purpose

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It gave us a suite of powerful tools to convert analytics data from other solutions into easy-to-understand informational reports with the help of data visualisation. Reports created by Google Data Studio were easy to understand and could be customised.

"Google Data Studio is Getting Better"

What do you like best?

I like the amount of information and customization that you get with Google data studios. I also like how you can integrate other Google products like Google Analytics and Adwords so you can have even more info.

What do you dislike?

There isn't a lot I don't like about this product. It's simple and easy to use. It did have a few bug at the beginning and I haven't found a great way to organize all the report into folders yet.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has helped me solve reporting to clients. It gives me all the information from Analytics or Adwords and I can show the client the import info. It makes it easier to explain to them how they are doing with out them getting bogged down with all the details.

"Quick and Easy Digital Insights when you need them, Long term trend analysis when you plan ahead."

What do you like best?

The ease in connecting and use the built in Google connectors makes Data Studio a breeze to use for anyone familiar with things like Google Analytics or even Google Sheets. The Robust 3rd party connectors take it even further, I use a number of them for connecting Social media stats. Automated reporting is way better than copy and paste reporting. I use and subscribe to the Supermetrics suite of connectors, it is invaluable for bringing in Facebook and Instagram data to give my workplace a more holistic view of our digital landscape.

What do you dislike?

The primary functions are great, but not always super stable. I have done some fairly heavy data crunching creating visualizations from some massive google sheets and Data Studio can slow to a crawl. Could be that 16gb of RAM isn't enough, could be I am asking it to do far more than I should. Either way, it can get frustrating when trying to update an important dashboard and it freaks out and locks up my computer for 5-10 minutes.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take your time, start with specific questions/needs and build from there. Filters are your friend.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Data Studio has cut down on the "Hey how is this doing" type of questions, with enough planning ahead of time I can have a dashboard built and shared with our Digital Marketing team before a campaign begins, then they can just watch the traffic start flowing in. Saves hours of digging through multiple systems, all in one place is a dream come true.

"All your data in one place"

What do you like best?

The tool provides the ability to consolidate large amounts of data and to put several reports in the same place. It helps you gather all the information without having to move from one report to another with great ease of use. The other good thing is that you can integrate it with google sheets, salesforce reports and many other tools that can help you organize your data and have visibility shared for your team.

What do you dislike?

It has long wait times when the report has too much data which is expected, but coming from a company that has servers like google does, it kind of disappoints you. The other big problem is that links with third party apps tend to easily break down and they require you to constantly check those to keep them working.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I would recommend to have someone with knowledge on basic HTML and programming since the tool also offers the option to create your own reports with raw data and calculate data and show it the way you want it to look like. Having that will help you get the most out of the tool.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

In our company we have several metrics that we need to keep an eye on. We have data studio dashboards created for all kinds of metrics and they can be easily divided into tiers and categories. This helps our team to easily provide the information to the management team and anyone who needs to have visibility on their team performance.

"Data Studio is Easy to Use and Great for Data Visualization"

What do you like best?

I like how simple Data Studio is to get started. You don't have to know a computer program to use it.

What do you dislike?

There are often glitches or bugs in the system that are frustrating to work around. Usually, they resolve themselves, but they still can be frustrating.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Data Studio to visualize data across different channels and produce reports. These reports are then given to decision-makers as easily digestible pieces of data.

"The place where I concentrate the data that I have to analyze and take actions to grow the company"

What do you like best?

I can process the data in any query format including JSON, which is the native format we use to get the answers from the databases, the development team has just linked Google Drive with the platforms in iOS and Android to send packages of queries every 6 hrs, and with data studio I can read the JSON files that result to extract the data that interest me and that I have previously configured in data studio.

What do you dislike?

With the current functions I am more than satisfied, however I would recommend that they expand the amount of compatibility to extract data automatically as emails, in the same way have pre-designed templates for the most common platforms so as not to have to do it through third-party plugins .

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Once I identify what I want to measure I configure the panels and data sources and I will always have the data updated, I only worry that the connection between the data source and the queries do not have errors, outside of that it is the responsibility of the backend developer Notify me of modifications to the columns of the database.
