Can I import an existing database into StackRender and generate migrations for it?

Yes. You can import SQL files and instantly convert your existing schema into a visual diagram. Any changes you make to the diagram will be automatically detected, and StackRender will generate database migrations in real time.

How does StackRender handle table or column rename operations?

StackRender detects table and column renames and generates proper RENAME migrations based on your SQL dialect. Unlike many ORMs that drop and recreate schema elements (causing potential data loss), StackRender ensures safe, non-destructive migrations that preserve your data.

Does StackRender support data migrations?

No. StackRender is focused exclusively on database schema migrations. Data migrations are not handled by StackRender and remain the responsibility of the user.

Does StackRender generate rollback (down) scripts?

Yes. StackRender generates a rollback (down) script for each migration, ensuring you can safely revert schema changes when needed.

Does the AI Assistant alter my database schema?

No. StackRender’s AI Assistant only generates schema suggestions and does not directly modify your database schema. Any changes that could alter your schema must be explicitly reviewed and approved by the user before being applied.

Can I try StackRender without creating an account?

Yes. You can use StackRender without signing up, but an account is required to save and persist your work.

What happens if I lose my internet connection while designing a database?

Your current work is safely stored in your browser, so you can continue once your connection is restored.
