I have a new Mac OS Recommended to a College Library

What do you like best about Alexandria?

Although we are a small elementary library, it amazes me how intricate and all encompassing this software is. I can see that if I were working in a public library or a larger school library, that this would cover all aspects of library management.

What do you dislike about Alexandria?

I would like to be able to write my own reports that would be more specific to my little library and my needs.

What do you like best about Alexandria?

The system is great. I like it. But there is so much to learn and I have very little time to spend learning everything there is to offer with this system.

What do you dislike about Alexandria?

Reports are hard for me to find. At least the one I would like.

Great Library system.

So many reports. It has been hard for me to find just the right report. Also If there were a way to send a late slip to students that didn't use a whole paper. You may have this but I haven't found it yet.

I love how easy Alex is to use. The tech support has been amazing when we have struggled with our school network.

I haven't found a downside to Alexandria. We were asked to switch once and we refused because if it isn't broken don't fix it. in

I love the ease of use of Alexandria and the quality tech support I have received when needed.

Alexandria: an Unexpected Surprise!

What do you like best about Alexandria?

Alexandria is extremely efficient. Every task one needs to perform in a library can be done easily with Alexandria. I did not purchase this initially; it was in place when I arrived but I understand the cost is quite reasonable. The customer service is STELLAR!!!!

What do you dislike about Alexandria?

The only downside is getting used to a new system if one has not worked on Alexandria before...which would be true with any new system.

Recommendations to others considering Alexandria?

If your district is looking at new circulation software, I would encourage you to look at Alexandria and compare it with other programs. I believe it offers more bang for the buck!

What problems is Alexandria solving and how is that benefiting you?

The procedures are easy to learn so after a few tries, I found myself not needing to look at notes. I have found it to be very user friendly and I can performs tasks quickly and easily.

Alexandria for school libraries

What do you like best about Alexandria?

I liked when inputting information into the system it automatically looked up the book information including the accelerated reader information.

What do you dislike about Alexandria?

I did not like it switch to internet based program. I worked in a rural school that sometimes had internet outages and that would slow me down in my work.

What problems is Alexandria solving and how is that benefiting you?

Making sure there is a consistent internet connection when using the product.

Prompt customer service

As a new librarian using Alexandria for the first time, I really appreciate the customer service. They answer their calls promptly and have always been able to help me with my various questions. They never make me feel like I should know or are wasting their time. I like all parts of the system and my teachers appreciate what I can do for them by accessing the various functions.

Long time Alexandria user

I began using Alexandria way back when the company was small and version 3 was something they were planning for the future. I stayed with version 5 for a long time because our equipment was never state-of-the-art and mine is the only school in the district using a Macintosh library program. I liked version 5 very much and was very comfortable using it found it very reliable. With version 5 I almost never needed to call tech support for help.

Changing to version 6 has been a mixed experience. I can do the basic tasks, but need to check with tech support to do things that seemed easy in version 5. The new version has many very desirable features and I hope to become a proficient user before too long.

In general, I really like the Alexandria program and have found the tech support people to be very patient and helpful.

A++ For Alexandria

I was converting to the newest version and they were so helpful both with email responses and on the telephone. They walked me through step by step. We had some problems on our end, and they were able to figure it out and work with our technology person to remedy right away. Would recommend!!
