PROS: XWiki is not simple product, it has extensible development platform so you can easily build online collaborative tools. The good thing is you don’t have to be developer in order to use this platform. I love that this product is open source and it provides lot of options for free. I can easily customize it so it can meet my needs. We are using it to create public web-site where we can put business information and to provide backend so the data can be easily managed on the same platform. I love that I have one tool for organizing and sharing information.
CONS: They could improve the UI and its usability. Those who are new have some difficulties because they meet lot of features at once. Sometimes it can be frustrating to create some collaborative tool but on the other hand we have smart and extremely customizable tool.
PROS: There are great options for scripting in pages, plugins and it has great modular architecture. I love the WYSIWYG editor and LDAP authentication, my team simply loves these options. I have the ability to build on Java platform and open source modules directly from Apache. It has HTML and web standards, and WCAG is compatible.
CONS: I can’t think of something to dislike, I don’t have features that I don’t like or found unnecessary, the product works perfect.

Product recommendation-Details how to develop in-wiki applications or how to integrate other software with XWiki. Contains details on how to insert scripts
XWiki is not just a wiki, it is a extensible development platform to build online collaborative tools. But you don't need to be a developer to start using it, and even to develop small applications. And best of all, it is open source and therefore freely accessible. With tons of extensions and growing, you can customize XWiki to really match your specific needs. We use it to create public WebSite that display business information, and we provide the backend to manage the data on the exact same platform. One tool for managing, organising collaborating and sharing information. Compare to other collaborative platform, we have chosen XWiki because it is open source, and it provide full flexibility. Seeing some of our work, you cannot easily know that XWiki is behind, so much it has been customised.
The default UI still needs to be improved for better usability. Newcomers are sometime lost by the powerful features proposed, and developers by the myriad of API available. While you have the feeling that there is real intend to create the best collaboration tool, you sometime feel frustrated by some unexpected behaviours. This is probably the price for getting a tool that smart and very customisable.
If you have information to organise and share, you should consider using XWiki in replacement to mail, office, and other complex workflow you are using today.
We provide collaborative online solution to our clients. We have therefore use XWiki as a base platform. Out of the box, it already provides useful feature to our customers, and it allow us to quickly craft a PoC to convince them to go further. By its customisability and the access to the source, we never reach a dead end and we are always able to provide a good solution for our customers needs.
I like the provision of scripting in pages, plugins and the highly modular architecture. Also the WYSIWYG editor and the LDAP authentication are really amazing and keeps my tech team happy.
Built on the Java platform and open source modules from Apache. Uses HTML and web standards. WCAG compatible which are really nice.
Nothing specific in terms of features that made me think XWiki stood out from the crowded collaboration space. No value proposition to bring me back to the product.
This is a very crowded space for such technologies and there are various products in the market. Do choose the correct one according to the needs of the current team and looking at all future needs.
The only possible benefit I tried looking at is that the product was free for me in the capacity that I used it in.
This tool is easy to use and its interface is pleasant. Document management is easy to organize and use. The directory allows to connect each internal and external person. We also use dedicated areas to talk about specific topics. The system encourage employees to communicate better with each other and stimulates the collaboration in the company.
I think the visual aspect of the product could be improved. Rights management tool can be improved too.
I invite those who wishes to come into contact with XWiki. Their team is very efficient regarding the advice and support.
We wish to improve the communication between employees and encourage people to share information.
The knowledge of each employee is now classified by subject and tidy. Each person with a question may look on the tool if the answer is there.
The gain in time is very important.
Gives us everything we need to create a powerful and divers Knowledge base. Ease to use and learn
bug fixes seem to be a bit slow, but ususally corrects the problem. Just wish for a little faster turnaround time.
make the switch and never look back
impressed with the power and flexibility XWiki has provided. Allowed us to create a very intuitive intranet that everyone can easily use and understand, and edit when necessary.
Ease of implementation, simplicity and very reactive support team. Xwiki is stable and the availability of the SaaS platforms is excellent.
User management is a bit tricky to apprehend.
Our customer facing product documentation is available publicly in two language. We moved from PDF and print to online wiki based on xwiki. Documentation is always up to date and available from everywhere.
PROS: This software allows us to add new articles easily, and it offers great options for formatting text. I love the “Code” macro and I’m using it to add extracts of the code so it will be shown formatted perfectly. I love the possibility to add CSS styles to the components and texts.
CONS: I found that the hierarchy of the pages is bit confusing for me. Also, the WYSIWYG doesn’t work as I would like to, sometimes I cannot copy text within the editor area when I select the tab, so I have to change the Source tab in order to do it.
