Basecamp is special...

While a small part of me leans towards a rating of 4 instead of 5, due to it lacking the same level of polish as its predecessors #1 or #2, the overall experience remains exceptional. Basecamp offers a range of fantastic tools that prove useful for staying organized and accomplishing tasks efficiently.

Fan since version 1

I’ve been using Basecamp since version 1 and I always loved it. Sure, there are some features that I’m missing sometimes. But every time I try out other project management software, I am overloaded by dozens of features I don’t need. So I guess it’s nicer to miss one or two big features than having way too many.

The biggest advantage over their competition is the communication with your clients. No other software has this nailed down quite as Basecamp.

Comparing Basecamp to its competition, for me, is like comparing Mac OS to Windows. One feels like it’s designed by an actual designer who has the end user in mind, the other feels like you had some engineers hack together every possible feature and later on get a few designers put everything together, without them talking to each other.

There is only one thing that bites me every month: the price. Sure it’s worth it, but I know that it was less expensive in the beginning. And that bothers me, because as I said I’ve been using Basecamp since version 1, but at some point I had to create a new account and so I lost the lower price. That makes me sad every month.

Best app for project management

Best app for project management. Very customer friendly. They even let you export your data if your trial expires. The UI is simply amazing. Our team had a great experience using it.

I’m able to gain more control with Basecamp

PROS: Basecamp is a useful tool that gives me the ability to be in charge of projects without being buried by docs, reports, and e-mail. It has an intuitive UI that aids in new project creation, member project assignment, and recent activity follow-ups. I'm even given the chance to include people outside my team (with restricted access) although details of the project are separated.

Basecamp is a useful tool that gives me the ability to be in charge of projects without being buried by docs, reports, and e-mail. It has an intuitive UI that aids in new project creation, member project assignment, and recent activity follow-ups. I'm even given the chance to include people outside my team (with restricted access) although details of the project are separated.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

The downside with Basecamp is that it can still be a challenging aspect when following up on projects without internet connectivity. These days, such moments are a rare occurrence. In my opinion, having an off-line modus would greatly benefit the management of each project on-the-go.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

When dealing with several projects, you wind up with an inbox exploding with docs stored all over the place without a concise perception as to who's currently on your team and their involvement on the given projects. Basecamp was able to resolve these issues and saved me plenty of time determining the progression of projects and challenges encountered along the way.

Centralized Location For Our To-Do Lists and Follow Ups

PROS: Our conversations are stored in one location. Though we still use emails, wikis, agendas, and Google Docs, Basecamp still has the best features, namely notification of follow ups and reminders. We are all Indonesians so we don't use English often yet Basecamp enables us to work efficiently with minimal use for English because its instructions and guides are all easy to understand.

Allows everyone to be on the same page

PROS: Everything is seamless when it comes to Basecamp. You do not have to turn to a different platform or avenue when you want to send a message to your team. You can do it on the same platform which makes communication easier. Apart from that, you will also be able to reach out to your clients and share with them the status or progress of the project you are undertaking for them. With Basecamp, your team members will be able to work on a project together while they stay on the common objective without anyone deviating from the goal. It helps to send video files to client and share with them the files you want them to see. On top of that, you can hide some of the files or things you do not want them to see and thus the control advantage.

Quick and easy collaboration application for small teams

PROS: Whiel it is branded as "project management" software, Basecamp is not as complicated as many other platforms that comes with a lot heavy constraints and complexities. Basecamp is simple and focuses on simplicity and collaboration. It is ease to add content via a desktop browser, a mobile web page, or via email. Simplicity is Basecamp's main asset. Even a novice user can become well versed with the platform in just in 15 minutes.

Seamless in terms of functionalities

PROS: It has been able to automate many tasks which we thought could not be done. There is a good feel when you realize that you can easily communicate with teams regardless of where they are on the same platform. Basecamp equips all teams to be on the same page even if they are working remotely on multiple projects. It is never the same when it comes to this tool. Our marketing team is able to connect different projects and check on their progress without much hustle. It helps to improve the visibility of all the projects where you can check the status of each project with ease.
