What do you like best?
I like the overall aesthetic of SkyTouch, such as the visuals upon logging in (showing vacancy, check-ins, occupancy, check-outs for the day, etc). It helps get a general overview upon beginning one's shift. I also enjoy the ease of moving between the Sky Touch platform and Booking.com, Flight delays, etc (other external sites). I found it to be organized well and generally clear. I also like that the bookings from third party websites are sent over directly and populate the SkyTouch system on their own. (Although there were a few instances where they did not go through in time, and the guest showed up before the reservation got a chance to send through to the SkyTouch system.
What do you dislike?
I did not like the lingo used, such as "guest folio", etc. Certain things were not clear when I first started using the program. It is easy to understand once you know what these things mean, but it felt like they could have come up with some more accessible terms for people who did not take a course in the program. I also to this day find the rate management aspects extremely difficult to understand. Luckily I am not a general manager so I do not have to deal with this anyhow, but it seems way too complicated for what it is. Additionally, the method of charging guests seems a bit counter-intuitive. Instead of it being a straight forward page, you have to add a guest "folio", add the method payment, and then explain what the method of payment is for. It could definitely be more user friendly in this aspect.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure to learn as much as possible before trying to use the program. It is not the kind of program you can just walk in and understand from day 1 . You legitimately have to get all of the training to understand the specifics of this program in the type of detail needed to properly implement the usages.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
SkyTouch Hotel made it easy to make edits and amendments to reservations, which is good considering the industry. It is important to be able to make changes to a reservation such as changing payment methods, adding guest notes, charging for incidentals, etc. Whenever I thought it would be impossible to go back and make a change, I realized that there was a pathway to changing it using the SkyTouch Hotel OS system, which I appreciate very much.
