Screencastify: So Easy to Use It's Ridiculous

What do you like best about Screencastify?

Screencastify is so easy to use, it’s almost ridiculous. It’s clearly designed to be used quickly and without fuss, which really matters for educators, right? When my classroom was more technology-based, I used it all the time. Even now, as I’m becoming a bit of a Luddite, I’m still glad I can navigate the program easily and find the features I need.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

I don't have a downside. I'm sure the program is not perfect, but I've never had enough of a problem or complaint to remember, write down, or address.

What problems is Screencastify solving and how is that benefiting you?

I needed a way to connect with my students who were chronically absent. Creating videos that can be close-captioned, stopped for comprehension, and easily edited was a must. I can spend some--not all--of a plan period catching up these students, and I know the end product is good because, well, I made it.

Perfect for Teachers, Enhances Remote Learning

What do you like best about Screencastify?

I love Screencastify because it hooks up to my Google Drive, so all of my videos are instantly downloaded into my Drive. That's probably my favorite part. I also love that you can transform videos into just audio files. As a teacher, I use it a lot for explaining and modeling, which is wonderful for students who aren't in the classroom, especially those on independent study. It allows me to record and personalize videos or model multistep processes, which is very helpful. Sometimes I use it to read a text to students, stopping and modeling annotations, and it's great to have an audio version of the text for students to listen to if that's how they learn best.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

I think maybe I tried to download too many audios, and it said I had to upgrade. That would be my only critique, for educators, maybe there could be free or...

What problems is Screencastify solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Screencastify to explain and model assignments for students, solving the problem of not being able to do this in person. It's especially helpful for students on independent study, personalizing content and demonstrating multistep processes effectively.

It is user friendly. When I have to use Screencastify, it is fairly intuitive to use. . .

I wish I could combine YouTube clips to make one video.

I make many presentations and lessons for my district. It helps me to snip a video so the user can just click on the link (instead of having to go to a certain minute marker).

Webcam + Live Annotations Make Recording Instructional Videos Easy

What do you like best about Screencastify?

I like that it allows me to include my webcam image and add live annotations while recording. The automatic upload to Google Drive is a big plus, and being able to edit the recording directly in the browser is really convenient.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

I wish the default annotation settings—like color and line thickness—and the webcam settings, such as its size and on-screen position, could be customized when starting a new video. I also wish the countdown could be paused (as it used to be), so I have time to adjust my setup and configuration before recording begins.

Screencastify makes virtual teaching easier and less time-consuming, while offering a user-friendly experience that even beginners can access with ease.

What do you like best about Screencastify?

I like being able to create professional development videos for staff. I can pause when needed, use the tools to write on the screen, and edit any mistakes as I go.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

I have not used it for anything other than lessons and how-to videos, so I do not have an opinion on this.

What problems is Screencastify solving and how is that benefiting you?

I work at many elementaries, so being able to disseminate information to multiple people without having to schedule another meeting is great.

Easy Video Task Assignments with Outstanding Customer Support from Jannelle

What do you like best about Screencastify?

The ability to assign video tasks and the ease of use. Most especially the customer support. You couldn't find a better customer support agent than Jannelle.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

Some students have experienced difficulty with uploading videos, so perhaps some instructions like those provided by Jannelle would be helpful for users.

What do you like best about Screencastify?

I find it extremely convenient to edit the videos that I already have, as the editing tools make the entire process smooth and effortless. In addition, what I really appreciate is how easy it has become to record my screen, since the browser extension provides quick access and simple functionality without the need for complicated setup. This combination of effortless video editing and user-friendly screen recording makes my work not only more efficient but also much more enjoyable.

What do you dislike about Screencastify?

I also experienced some drawbacks, such as the slow processing speed and the inconvenience that the recorded video was not reflected immediately while capturing the screen. Even now, I am still not sure why this issue occurs.
