(Reviewed on 02 September 2020) "Keeps everything well organized!"

What do you like best?

When using Schoology, there are so many options to keep your course organized. When creating folders, they can be color coded. When creating content, it can easier be dragged and dropped into a specific order if you feel you need to move things around after you have created it. You are able to save to resources, copy from resources, copy to other courses, etc.! Saves time when you teach multiple courses with the same or similar content. You are also able to link courses with the same content to keep yourself more organized with being sure all students have the same content.

What do you dislike?

I would like it if there was an option to duplicate material in a Schoology course. Sometimes I create something with all the information, but want to have the same thing again, but with a few changes.

Also, it would be nice to be able to copy and paste or a way to duplicate events on the calendar, so if an event happens multiple days of a month, but not on a specific weekday, I could copy and paste it to the specific days.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Schoology has allowed me to be able to disseminate the same information to all my classes at once. A huge benefit with Schoology is all the other educational programs it partners with allowing teachers to integrate more into their courses.

(Reviewed on 17 August 2020) "Schoology can do it all."

What do you like best?

Anything that teachers want to do. Contact Parents, share pictures, upload and grade assignments and so much more can be done in Schoology. We do not have to use a different app for every task. I have really not found much that I cannot do. There are so many options for creating assignments and gathering resources for my students. The ability to embed resources really makes it a one stop hub for my students to access all that they need in the virtual media center.

What do you dislike?

I really haven't found anything to dislike. I do not appreciate the push notifications and all of the email notifications, but I turn them off and it is great. I am in the library so I am connected to many classes which causes an overload of messages. Again though, I turn it off and it works like a dream.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Using Office 365 products with Schoology is a dream. The students already know how to use Word, Powerpoint, etc, so it just creates that living document that we can collaborate on. By creating a template for them to build upon leaves room for their creativity, but eliminates the hassle of building everything from scratch. Even the youngest students can create powerpoint documents with pictures, fonts and save this great work for years to come in their office 365 account. You should definitely use an Office 365 or Google Classroom account with Schoology.

Discussion boards are great for responses to more than just written questions. I love to post a video or read a passage for students to respond to. I love even more that they can respond using a video themselves. There are so many options to meet learners where they are at. They can be challenged, but stay in their social comfort zone.

The ability to embed content for students to interact with is where I am going next. By creating an interactive Bitmojo classroom and embeding it in the announcements, you will have a one stop hub for the students to access all the library materials they need.

Also, make sure you archive your courses and save in your resources. That way when you come back the next year, you don't have to recreate the wheel. It is already created. Just tweak what you need and there is so much less work at the start.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As the librarian I have created a course which works as the library online for my school. All the students know how to get there and can access what they need. It was a lifesaver when we had to go digital due to COVID. I am excited to create some more embed-able content to make my Schoology Library Course even more interactive and useable to the youngest of students.

What do you dislike?

There are some app limitations on the teacher view. Gradebook view on the app needs some updates.

(Reviewed on 07 August 2020) "Why I Like Schoology"

What do you like best?

I like that I can really personalize Schoology and make it work for both my and my students. I have been able to attach Google assignments, provide links to other digital platforms, add my Bitmoji Daily Agenda, and have scores from outside platforms like Nearpod dropped straight into my grade book. I really like that there is a messaging option and that all my messages are saved and available should I need to return to them. The option to message the entire class at once--and the parents who have joined through the Parent Portal-- is awesome. It is proof of reaching out and parent engagement and makes it very easy to reach everyone at once.

What do you dislike?

It took me some independent time to learn how to make Schoology more my style, but it was easy to do once I did find the information on their YouTube page. I do not like the sticky notes to respond to student-submitted work when submitting through the CREATE option. It's clunky.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Spend some time watching videos to help you personalize the LMS to meet your needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Both students and parents can see everything, assignments, grades, communication, all in one place.

I used to use a different platform for students to submit essays and longer projects. Recently I learned about the Google and Microsoft integration buttons and that is a total game changer. I also appreciate I can link to both so students have the option to create a PowerPoint or a SlideDeck and both can be submitted on Schoology where I can quickly score and the grade goes directly into the grade book.

(Reviewed on 04 August 2020) "The only LMS to meet your K-12 needs"

What do you like best?

Schoology is intuitive and easy to use. It is the only LMS that is appropriate for K-12. Both the students and teachers enjoy using it. The parents like how they are kept informed by Schoology. The free app is also a big bonus. Teachers can grade from it, students can check information and parents can stay on top of what their students are doing. Schoology is also image friendly. That is one of the reasons it is so good for younger grades.

What do you dislike?

New features take a while to become fully functioning. There are using a bit of bugs to work out. Sometimes you need to wait to roll them out, because of the initial bugs and problems.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Schoology may not be perfect, but they do listen to feedback and diligently work on improving.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are reaching all of our students with Schoology. It has made our 1:1 computer integration successful and student engagement has increased by leaps and bounds.

(Reviewed on 20 July 2020) "Schoology - an AWESOME tool!"

What do you like best?

My staff and students have used Schoology for the past three years. It is a great learning management system. The students find it user friendly and the teachers love having one place to manage the many aspects of their classes. Excited to see what new features will be coming this year!

What do you dislike?

My teachers are patiently waiting for Schoology to be tied to our student information system so grades will import directly!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Take it slow...focus on one aspect at a time as not to get overwhelmed.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Schoology is a great solution for "one stop shopping" for our students. This is a great time-saver in the classroom.

(Reviewed on 14 July 2020) "Plan Ceibal - Uruguay. Leandro Bustos"

What do you like best?

One of the most useful things of Schoology is the Learning Objectives, Mastery, Rubrics, all these useful grading tools.

What do you dislike?

I dislike the new usage and course analytics because we lose some useful tools and the possibility of export that reports, at least for now.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

I recommend Schoology to all users that need to implement an easy use LMS platform with solid grading tools that are really helpful to evaluate how our children learn and mastery any required skill.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are using Schoology as the default LMS platform for the whole Public Educational Administration here in Uruguay, futhermore, we use Schoology for Professional Development Course for our faculty teams.

What do you like best?

That everything is all in one place and you can embed so many outside pages.

What do you dislike?

There is not a "facetime" like feature built-in.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

A search button, a select all or a select certain feature. Better messaging, to include blind cc and cc features.

Organization. You can organize and plan way out.

(Reviewed on 24 June 2020) "Schoology from the IT guys"

What do you like best?

Schoology is a great partner. It has been easy to support the end user. Their knowledge base is easy to navigate. It was an invaluable tool during our, "stay at home order."

What do you dislike?

Because we have a legacy SIS it is difficult for data transfer (not Schoologies fault). The Google drive integration needs a little help

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Schoology is the best solution that we have found to integrate with our SIS, and future SIS. It allows for easy integration with many other Ed Tech tools.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Schoolgy has allowed us to consolodate a lot of our Ed Tech into one location. This was particularly helpful when we provided our community with virtual school during our state's stay at home order due to COVID 19.
