Oracle primavera is an outstanding software that manages projects and helps in collaboration in a very meaningful pattern. Along with many advantages Oracle primavera also has some downsides. Its complex interface makes it much difficult to understand at first and takes time to get familiar with it. The autosave function can cause disappointment to the users. The latest version of JAVA has to be installed for Oracle primavera. Also the pricing is much higher than many other contenders. Oracle primavera does not provide with tracking feature for which clients use some outside source.
Oracle primavera is thus straightforward and to the point. It provides the user with robust set of features. Its ease of setup and administration has made it a powerful management tool. The flexibility in many features, provided by Oracle primavera nominates it as a highly recommended app. Its high speed and reliability has much value in construction world.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
The user interface and so many options for Gantt charts. It quickly identifies the critical path of the project
It is very difficult to learn. You will to learn it from a trainer. It video tutorials should be made online
We generally use Primavera for thethe following reasons:
1. Scheduling and Resource Allocation of a Project
2. To find the task on critical path
The thing i like the most is breakdown structure
Complex structure is the thing of primavera which i dont like

Oracle Primavera is a brilliant programe which help me preparing time schedules for the running projects.
I can arrange each activity in order and show it's start & end date, connect them together and see time impact on the project.
I don't like the autosave option in the oracle primavera, i wish if there is a separate save button.
Also, there is no reporting tool in it which made me depend on other programes such as (Microsoft Excel) for reporting, modification then importing the data again into the oracle primavera.
1-Help me saving time and cost by doing time schedule in a professional way.
2-Prediction of what the project is going to (Time extension, cost ipmact...etc).
3-Connecting more than one project and link them together under 1 Enterprise.
I use Primavera P6. It makes my life easier with project planning and teacking. It provides a vast features and outputs especially when dealing with complicated projects and nested scope of work.
It doesn' provide a flexible Undo feature, also it saves changes automatically which makes it difficult to retrive the work if destroyed by mistake.
I advise you to switch to Oracle Primavera. It is commonly used in companies that require planning and tracking works, especially the construction companies and oil & gas companies. It is being the default tender requirement for most international companies.
I'm solving the CPM, Resource Distribution, performance tracking, earned value, performance index and the like.
Primavera provides the benifit of a comprhensive project planning and managment solution through its easy to use interfaces and menus as well as the numerous options available.
Been using Primavera since 1997. I would be writing a novel if I state here what I want about it. It's still the best scheduling software out there but making some improvements wont be bad as well.
I'm going to write here what I hope is in P6 instead of dislikes:
- I wish it will more user-friendly when it comes to formatting and orgazing and would be great if it can have some of the microsoft office similar functionalities.
- Bring the global change back to how it was during the P3 era. Combine the "subject area" into one. In P3, you can find anything you want to use on GC without being limited by groups under the subject area. Example if I need to use a formula that involves two items belonging from 2 different subject areas. I can't do this anymore unlike in P3 where all these items can be selected in one global change item.
- Partial scheduling. This is available in MS Project and is quite useful.
- Partial baseline. This is also available in MSP and is really useful.
- Cell or row fill
- Cell or row individual formatting.
- Live baseline like in P3. I hope this is an option. Aside of converting a separate project as baseline like now. In P3 you can choose an existing project in the database to be your baseline and that project remains to be a separate project and doesn't have to disappear because it became a baseline.
Give it a try.
I've been in construction for about 20 years. I've been mainly using Primavera for creating schedule, reviewing submissions and managing the project.
