It's FREE! Yet is still has most of the features of the larger and expensive options out there. It handled everything: time tracking, time off requests, automated lunch breaks, automated over time, multiple pay rates, job codes, job task tracking, GPS limited clock-in/clock out, clock-in with facial recognition, multiple managers. The feature list goes on and on. If you get the free version that we use you don't get priority support. That's ok though. We've been using it for four years and we've never had to go to support for a single issue.

The current version doesn't tally up worked hour totals daily. Instead, it just lists the individual time slots an employee was clocked in and then gives a running weekly and monthly total. Not a show stopper, but when you have student workers clocking in and out three and four times a day when they work for an hour or two at a time between classes, adding all of that up can get a little confusing.

If you don't mind a platform that is more functional than slick to look at, Open Time Clock might just be what you're looking for.

We needed a time tracking program that let our student workers enter their time throughout the day but restricted where and when they could clock-in and out. It's done that and so much more!

Today remote workers are the new normal and having them able to easily clock-in to the same platform is extremely important.

It's a very simple system that has a free version, which is great for small businesses and start-ups.

The look of the system can be is very old school and could use a facelift.

Being a real estate company very few of our agents are on hourly wages so the cost for a full system that tracks benefits and PTO was unnecessary.

Easy to set up users and managers. A simple version was free, which was good for those looking for something for a short term solution, as our company was because it is seasonally open.

Sometimes it was hard for employees to use, though I think it had more to do with them, than the program.

It is good for a small company in need of a temporary solution.

For a small business, this was a simple, safe and effective way to keep track of employee's time.

Having an app on your phone that you can use to get you clocked in within 5 seconds of parking at work is tough to beat. You can also view your timesheet, within any date range. And if you clock in or out too late or too early for any reason, you can just type a note on a set of worked hours that says when you actually got in or out, so that management can fix it for you.

The 2008 Open Time Clock app does not keep you signed in, although it does remember your username and password. So you have to tap "login" when you open the app, then tap "login" again, then tap "Clock in". It's not a major barrier, but it adds an extra second to the amount of time it takes to clock in.

I have also had coworkers complain about occasional clunkiness and difficulty logging and clocking in, but I have not experienced that.

We already carry our smartphones everywhere anyway, so having the Open Time Clock app eliminates any need to carry a plastic card, or obviously punch a paper one. It's also quick, and any human errors can be taken note of for correction by management, so people will be able to track their hours accurately. Managers can also access timesheets from any computing device, so the convenience for them is just as great.
