None that I know of, everyone of my volunteers like the software
No database perfectly covers every need, but the people at Volunteer Impact are excellent at helping us adapt their product to our needs.
There are a few things we'd love to change to better suit our situation, but we've found work-arounds for them.
It helps us track participation, skills, interests and serving preferences for both active and potential volunteers in our large church and school.
I am still in awe at how the amount of time it takes to email my volunteers only takes about five minutes when the same task used to take over three hours. Also having the ability for volunteers to schedule themselves, and not have to wait for me to respond and confirm a shift is a blessing.
I wish they could send automatic emails for things such as shift reminders.
Better Impact solves many problems for us, but time management is the biggest. With this tool, we cut the time to email our volunteers to minutes when it used to be hours. We are also able to allow our volunteers to self-schedule for shifts. It is also an incredible tool for hours logging and reporting.
Volunteer Impact has helped my organization centralize all data regarding our volunteers. Previously, documents lived in multiple locations throughout our 92 libraries. Data for reports was difficult to attain, involving emails and phone calls to gather information. Also, volunteer applications were sometimes lost when a location underwent a renovation or a change of manager. And, anytime a volunteer wanted to know how many hours they served or years, they would need to call the main Volunteer Office.
Now everything we need is at our fingertips, not just volunteer information and hours and activity data, but our trainings are in Volunteer Impact too.
We are really super happy with our choice to use Volunteer Impact.
It is a bit difficult to learn, and it is not intuitive, BUT the staff at Better Impact are amazing. They have wonderful tutorials, videos and blog posts they can direct you to when you have a question.
Quick, reliable data and reports. Centralized information about our volunteers even though they volunteer in 92 locations. Volunteers enjoy setting up their profile, taking trainings, adding their photo and checking to see how many hours they have served. They no longer have to call me for everything they need.
The number one thing is the ability to receive help. I get very easily confused, and the staff is great to work with
It's a little difficult have to create all the modules. Once you figure it out though, it's great!
It solves alot of my volunteer issues. tracking their hours, time, documents, etc
What I like best so far (we are new clients!) is the ease of using the system and the tech support; they are here to help us be successful and feel comfortable using the system.

I love how easy it is to navigate between different volunteers and their functions. I am able to easily schedule and assign volunteers with a few clicks! It's great!
If I could change one thing about the Better Impact system, it would be that I can't add assignments or schedule slots within each volunteer profile. I have to go to activities and add each slot manually.
All of our volunteers are organized into one system that I can use to fulfill the needs of the clinic. I also love that I am able to communicate with the volunteers through one system.
Volunteer Impact is very robust, has a lot of features that can be customized to fit specified needs. But I think the best feature is the AMAZING customer service. There is someone online 24/7, they reply to messages really quickly, there is also an e-mail sent with the information. They all are happy to brainstorm to figure out a solution to your issue. I haven't had a bad customer experience yet!!
Although it is very robust, there are a few things we just haven't been able to wrangle. But to be fair, I'm a little spoiled. I switched from a custom system that was created from the ground up just for us. We only had to abandon it because our designer left our organization, and I don't have any training at all in programming & couldn't maintain it. But customer service with BI is willing to put in development suggestion tickets, so there is always hope!
onboarding volunteers, training volunteers, keeping stats for events, communication with volunteers and a lot more. Right now, I'm the only one managing & configuring the program & onboarding volunteers, so the features are saving me A LOT of time.
Volunteer Impact is really a catch-all for logging volunteer hours, volunteer shift scheduling, qualification tracking, posting eLearning Modules, mass communication, badges for achievements and qualifications, and much much more.
The only downside I find in Volunteer Impact is that some of our intake paperwork for participants and volunteers (since we offer therapeutic and recreational services with horses for those with and without special needs) commonly becomes larger than the 5 MB upload space, so rather than make multiple, smaller forms for our community to do, we have reworked aspects of our custom fields to include paperwork signatures and acknowledgments to make the paperwork load lighter.
Balancing our volunteer needs, recording volunteer hours and impact for our non-profit, making relevant forms, guides and documents available to my volunteers without having to email them or resend them as they're needed due to the document library accessible to them, minimizing hours added to remain at work by creating eLearning Modules volunteers can interact with for training refreshers or recaps, the list goes on and on.

Using Better Impact to manage our volunteers has been fantastic. The design and features are easy to use and comprehensive. They same both myself and volunteers time. Its well though out, and the contribution of both volunteer managers and volunteers keeps it relevant and really helpful. It is easy to set up and tailor to our needs. It has features which enable us to manage the whole of involvemnt of volunteers in a practival, respectful and efficient way. Bette Impacts ssupport team is really responsive and timely. I use this program daily and it saves me time and my company money every day. The options to create reports from the volunteer data allows for easy integration with other platforms required in my organisation.
It's such a great program I get disappointed when I have to use other programs which are just clunky and technical.
