Transparent Languages offers a holistic perspective on language learning & a ton of resources in order to learn likely every single vocabulary word in existence. There are opportunities to engage with specific aspects of language related to specific vocations or areas where you would need to know very niche language.
When you log onto the software, it's a bit difficult to navigate. In addition, the wealth of available knowledge is a bit difficult to wade through, similar to it being like a thick soup. There are multiple options and the thought of tackling the language from the point of logging on is almost overwhelming.
I think creating accompanying lesson plans to make the material more tangible and doable is a great solution to some of the problems I perceived with the software. I also think encouraging incremental implementation is key to utilizing this software in your workplace.
It definitely helps expand the potential of our employees to engage and connect with different cultures. It also allows for personal growth in the workplace, which is definitely something our employees enjoy.
I like the variety of exercise types that utilize different aspects of language learning styles. It also incorporates speaking exercises that allow you to practice pronunciation.
The speaking exercises are not always accurate, and may read incorrect pronunciations as correct. For certain languages, such as Dutch, there are less levels and exercises available than for other languages (i.e. French, German, etc.)
Keep in mind that if you want to use this for less commonly used languages, there will be less levels than for others. Also make sure that you understand the voice recognition feature for practicing pronunciation doesn't always provide an accurate assessment of accuracy.
I used this software to brush up on my German and French language skills to prepare for my required language exams. I also use it to expose myself to new languages as needed (for travel, etc.)
Transparent languages has a lesson for everything, and I don't think I'm exaggerating. If there's a topic in another language that'd you'd like to learn a plethora of minute details about, Transparent Languages is the correct software for you. It has tons of in-depth lessons on niche topics in different languages. It's quite comprehensive, and offers a variety of teaching methods (from writing, to speaking, to reading, etc).
If you're in an environment where it's difficult for you to speak aloud and you need to skip that option, it becomes a little stifled in terms of the breadth of the lesson (you have to skip a good amount of the work). In addition, because the topics are so niche and you can jump all over the place, it's difficult to see solid progress. However, the depth of the language somewhat makes up for this, because there's nothing you can't learn.
It's not so much a problem, but we use this software for the personal development of our employees. We encourage them to undertake personal development projects, and several individuals indicate that learning a language is a skills that they would like to develop. It allows our employees to feel more fulfilled at work and like they're actually moving forward in the marketable skills that they possess, which leads to a more positive and fulfilling work environment.
