I'm a software engineer and I have used a good amount of online ides and repl is by far the best I have used. I'm really happy it exists. Its straight forward, easy to use, supports a lot of languages, let's u create complex projects, let's u work together on projects etc. Also u can download frameworks through the terminal. It just made my life as a programmer so much easier. It work great together with github already and I hope the development continues. It s a blessing. Thx repl team.
It's the best online IDE for programming and coding stuff yeet yeet yeet yeet yeet
I like that repl.it lets you quickly test code on almost any device with a web browser, without requiring the user to download or install an IDE or compiler. The platform is simple and easy to use, making code testing while I'm not on my main computer a breeze.
I don't like that free users are not allowed to use private repls. I believe that free users should at least have two free private repls that they can use for testing that they might not want everyone to be able to access.
Even though its probably best to use a paid account, there's still a lot you can do with just a free account! Before you take out your wallet, make sure to give the free platform a whirl, odds are that you'll probably just need one repl for quick code testing and in that case the free plan is perfect.
This is definitely a good fit for freelancers that have to show a client running code or for organizations that want to empower their employees with a valuable tool for on-the-go use or for demonstrating functioning code (or even debugging that code!).
Instead of installing an entire development kit on a computer I might only use once, I can simply use repl.it with a web browser instead, saving valuable time and ensuring that I can access a testing sandbox from anywhere, for most major languages.
The ease of use and how fast you can get up and running with your preferred framework. I'm able to accelerate my learning by cutting out all of the fuss that's associated with configuring full blown dev environments.
Could offer more options in terms of software addons and integrations with other providers.
I'm testing ideas and learning new frameworks without the hassle of setting up professional development environments.
Repl.it is no way meant to replace your development environment, but it certainly enhances it! Repl.it is your go-to when that environment you rely so much on fails.
Repl.it's only downside is that it can be incredibly slow at times. Even still, when you're cranking out a few lines with the goal being to transfer your code to your environment later, Repl.it functions as a quick solution.
Do you have a meeting coming up with new ideas to teach to your team? Don't bother loading your touchy development environment. Just use Repl.it.
- Easy to use: It is very easy to use this platform.
- No need to install anything on your machine ( of course except for browser - I do it on google chrome or firefox ): just for lazy people!
- has its own integrated console for any given programming language ( at least the ones I use! )
- has its free server to compile and show your code
- features such as forking git repos are a bit underdeveloped which sometimes creates serious problems
- no possibility to upload files with folder such that file structure is saved
- sometimes it does not show the repositories you have
Absolutely consider this software as your next platform to use!
I am switching to do all my projects on this platform once they improve shown above downsides. I like the platform so far!
Repl.it is a smooth user friendly program. The organized interface makes it easy to save programs, stay organized, and share work. The program has no shortage of languages to learn/practice/write with. Coding is a perishable skill so, the challenges that vary in difficulty and are very helpful to keep sharp. I also enjoy the blog to keep up with relative issues/topics in the programming field.
I often experience connection issues with the site. It was suggested to use Chrome, but that is where I experience most of the issues. However, Repl works fine with Safari the majority of the time. Would like the be greeted with a more descriptive screen as to what the issue is, instead of just a big "404" message. Even though I sometimes experience issues, customer support chat has been quick and painless in my experience.
Use the community! Take a shot at a challenge or two every day.
It's a great resource to learn and share with. Crowdsourcing questions within the community when you get stuck has been super helpful. Repl is also beneficial because it quickly and effectively points out any discrepancies when you encounter 'undefined' code. I also really enjoy the interaction with others at any time of day or night.
repl.it is particularly useful for use on low-powered devices or devices with no ability to install traditional software, such as Chromebooks.
There's not much to dislike about repl.it. One thing that could use some improvement is the mobile interface. Autocomplete is not functional on mobile and the interface feels too crowded on the relatively small screen of a mobile device.
repl.it allows for the use of Chromebooks for teaching programming in an IDE that achieves near feature parity with traditional desktop IDEs.
- It works on the cloud
- Easy to use interface
- Easy to understand interface
- Intuitive design
- Need to upgrade for premium features
- Python language support could be improved, though just an ask, not a big deal
- C++ language support is very weak, could be made better. Not sure how platform specific code will work though
- I think that repl.it is a great company
- All of you folks are doing a great job, keep up the great work
- Online writing and testing of code
- Sharing code with other developers
- Code colloboration and taking interview of candidates becomes way too easier. Could not have asked for a better interviewing experience.
Great product very user-friendly took me about a week to get the hang of it, originally content
Good product occasionally crashes seems to still have some bugs in the system and software updating the program would be beneficial
Implement a free trial before purchasing it to ensure usefulness of product
Used to work and colaborate on projects all in one private server for the group
