QA We use for testing on our staging and alpha sites
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
Super easy to test and inspect emails in dev without sending them to real users. Clean UI, great for debugging headers, content, and deliverability issues.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
Some limits on the free plan, and setting up sandbox environments can be a bit fiddly at first. Would love more detailed analytics out of the box.

end users claiming emails had not been delivered Excellent traceability at a reasonable cost
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
Being able to review email sending logs based on a basic SMTP service is worth the monthly cost for sending all of our transactional emails. We are working on integrations with the rest of our infrastructure and scaling the subscription as we go.

Recommendations to others considering Mailtrap?
Implementation was a breeze, we were setup within minutes and the customer support was very quick and responses were helpful.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
Had a couple of issues with the account being temporarily blocked if the bounce rate was too high. We had a couple of fluctuations due to an internal issue and it took a couple of days to get unblocked

Excellent support and prompt resolution of critical issues
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
What impressed me most was that the support team proactively identified issues with my account and reached out to help. They assisted me in resolving several priority questions, including a problem with my domain that I wouldn’t have noticed without their help. The support was responsive, professional, and genuinely caring, which made the whole process much easier. Thank you so much!
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
Honestly, I haven’t experienced any major downsides so far. Everything worked as expected, and the support team exceeded my expectations. If I had to mention anything, I’d say that more detailed documentation for some advanced features could be helpful, but overall, my experience has been very positive.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was helped to avoid having my emails go to spam for Apple Private Mail users, and also to resolve an issue with changing the domain on my account.

Reliable SMTP service for transactional emails.
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
Mailtrap has been a great solution for handling our transactional emails. The SMTP setup was smooth, and email delivery is fast and dependable. I especially appreciate how easy it is to integrate and test emails before they reach real users. Their support team was also helpful when I needed assistance.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
There was one instance where my email sending was suddenly blocked without any prior warning. I had to contact support to understand and resolve the issue, which was frustrating. Regarding their email marketing solution — while it still lacks many advanced features, I like what I’ve seen so far. It looks clean and easy to use, and it definitely has the potential to become a solid option in the future.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mailtrap simplifies the integration of SMTP for transactional emails, whether through API or traditional SMTP credentials. This flexibility allows us to set up and manage email delivery quickly and efficiently across different environments without hassle.

Handles spikes smoothly and works well at scale
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
The ability to separate transactional and bulk traffic using different IP pools and dedicated IPs has been a game changer for us. It keeps deliverability high for important messages like invoices and payment reminders, while letting us send large volumes like monthly digests without risking delays. The platform’s high-throughput infrastructure handles volume spikes smoothly, which is crucial at the end of each billing cycle (think ~700k+ invoices and notifications in 24 hours).
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
The platform does a great job on the infrastructure side, but we still wish there were more built-in automation for things like dynamic suppression rules or event-driven flows. Currently, we handle those on our end via webhooks and custom logic.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Mailtrap to send high volumes of transactional emails reliably and maintain clean separation from our bulk infrastructure. In the past, our marketing sends would drag down the sender score of critical messages. Since moving to Mailtrap’s split infrastructure, we’ve seen bounce rates drop by ~22% and inbox placement improve across Microsoft and Google domains. It also simplified our compliance reporting and made it easier to align with standards like PCI DSS for financial communications.

Strong deliverability and dev friendly API for transactional email
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
Mailtrap helped us centralize and scale our transactional email infrastructure across multiple financial products, ensuring low latency and high throughput. The SMTP and API options were flexible and easy to integrate with our microservices, and we’re seeing consistently strong inboxing rates. Their support team also helped us with some DKIM alignment issues early on, resolving them within hours. The platform’s real-time email event tracking and detailed email logs also help us monitor how our emails are performing.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
We’d love to see more marketing automation features so we could cover more of our lifecycle comms in one place. Also, having an option for EU-based data storage would be helpful for some of our regional compliance needs, particularly for GDPR.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Mailtrap to ensure fast, reliable delivery of KYC emails, account notifications, and financial transaction alerts across multiple domains. Prior providers failed to maintain sender reputation across projects, but Mailtrap’s automated IP warm-up and domain-level deliverability controls solved that. Our engineers also save time thanks to clear API docs and secure, TLS-encrypted connections.

A straightforward and reliable email API for developers
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
It's a straightforward, no-nonsense platform. We got our transactional emails integrated with the API in less than a day. Deliverability has been solid, and our signup emails are finally hitting the inbox consistently. Their support also helped us resolve an issue with one of our subdomains, diagnosing and fixing it within an hour.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
It would be a plus if it had more advanced marketing automation features. We're still using a separate tool for that. Not a dealbreaker, though.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were losing new users because our previous provider had poor deliverability. Mailtrap's automated IP warmup and solid reputation management fixed that almost immediately. The main benefit is that our engineers don't have to waste time managing email servers; they can focus on building features that our customers actually pay for.

An essential tool for our email QA process
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
The best part is how easy Mailtrap makes testing emails for non-coders like me. I can go into our staging inbox in the Email Sandbox and see exactly what the user will get for order confirmations, shipping notices, etc. I don't have to ask a dev to trigger an email for me anymore, which saves everyone a ton of time.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
The analytics dashboard is pretty technical and doesn't give you the deep campaign metrics a marketing expert would probably want.
Recommendations to others considering Mailtrap?
Our old testing setup was a chaotic, shared feed from a developer tool that was impossible for QA to navigate. Finding the right test email was a pain, and we were constantly dependent on the dev team.

Practical tool for managing email in development and production
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
We adopted Mailtrap during a rebuild of our internal admin platform and used it to manage email delivery for release alerts, billing notices, and account-related messages. The API was integrated in under 2 days, and we immediately saw a drop in misrouted test emails.
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
Recommendations to others considering Mailtrap?
One unexpected benefit: it's been easy for non-engineering teams like QA and product to use it to review transactional emails without needing help from our devs. This alone saves us around 4 to 6 hours per sprint.
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
While analytics are solid for transactional email, they don't go deep enough for lifecycle or marketing use cases (e.g. multi-step journeys or conversion tracking).

Very helpful and efficient
What do you like best about Mailtrap?
The folks at Mailtrap were so helpful and responsive guiding me through the process of getting the outgoing transactional emails from my web app working when the mail service on my server failed. I am definitely not an email expert, so I had a lot questions which they patiently answered until I got things working. They also operated consistently across several staff - there seemed to be communication between the staff that answered my many questions. I totally hate anything to do with integrating email notifications into web sites, but Mailtrap eased the pain!
What do you dislike about Mailtrap?
There were no downsides I can think of!!
What problems is Mailtrap solving and how is that benefiting you?
Failed email architecture for an add-on domain to a larger web site.
