The HYPE team has been fantastic to work with over the past five years. It has truly been a partnership in which HYPE has been invested in providing a positive outcome rather than selling us a product.
Very little to say about what we dislike. The workbench can be complicated to navigate for an admin, but the overall UX is superb.
HYPE supports a guided and collaborative approach to ideation which allows us to create an innovation pipeline for the business aligned to areas of strategic importance. As with any organisation, the best ideas live in the minds of those doing the work, HYPE then provides the platform for these ideas to come to life.
Our campus is frequently described as a small city. Not only are we physically dispersed, but we also have a diversity of roles, levels, functions, occupations, age ranges due to the nature of the research institution and what is required to serve our students. Hype is a tool that helps bring together faculty, researchers, the hospital system, our students, our staff, and even our external partners. This platform has helped us overcome a barrier in connecting our widely distributed groups and hierarchies in order to help us problem solve, process improve, creatively innovate, and effectively communicate.
None of us were innovation experts before working with Hype Innovation. Hype’s commitment to their client’s success has ensured that we have become innovation experts. The best practice sharing, access to consultants and other clients has made all the difference to ensuring we are able to successfully run campaigns and avoid the major pitfalls of running an innovation program.
It’s hard to find something I dislike about Hype or the platform after 5 years of working with them, and the changes they’ve made to the platform, have been positively received by most of our campus audiences.
At UC San Diego we are generally using the platform to solve problems associated with effective communication on healthcare teams, bringing groups together who are unable to physically gather in order to innovate on initiatives for strategic planning, creating space for dialogue on anti-racism initiatives, confirming with subject matter experts that current state maps are accurate, or getting feedback on future state processes, reviewing application submissions through the evaluation tool, and running campaigns that ultimately align with our overall campus strategic plan. One of the major benefits of a tool like this has been the recognition and awareness that is observed when using it is suggested as a way to help a group realize its goals. There is a sense of excitement in the knowledge that using IdeaWave is going to help drive us toward success.
Hype not only provides the platform to collect and share ideas but they also train and coach you in how to get the best of employees and their collective intelligence. One of the best aspects is the sense of community they have built around the Innovation Managers and how we can share best practice amongst peers in our industry and beyond.
A bit of a learning curve to understand the full feature suite of Hype and requires practice to get really compentent.
Collecting new ideas from disparate parts of the organization
Building connections with employees
Sharing and improving ideas
Communicating strategy in an open way
HYPE's knowledge and understanding of open innovation was a major differentiator. They were happy to be along for the journey before, during, and after implementation.
Backend requires training, but simple enough to understand.
Crowdsourcing at scale and encouraging the enterprise to participate in Innovation. All across the organization, teams are seeing value in leveraging the HYPE tool, whether it is crowdsourcing at an enterprise level or within specific teams.
I've been using Hype Innovation for over nine years now, and I like how easy it is to run campaigns and collect ideas. The customer support team has always been great to work with.
Customizations to the platform are sometimes limited, and the admin backend can feel complex and dated.
We are ideating on new service offerings and products for our clients and our firm, as well as brokering/matching ideas between non-technical staff who have an idea (innovators) and technical staff (builders) to co-create e.g. automations.
A holistic approach to Ideation and idea management, with a full feature set and lots of configurability
Difficulty connecting to external platforms. Some things that should be built-in cost extra. The admin console is outdated-looking and a little bit cryptic.
Execllent employee engagement and the development of a solid idea pipeline for our innovation efforts.
Wonderful support from both the technical and the customer care teams
A few elements of the user interface are not as intuitive as they could be. In addition, most of my campaigns involve product design ideas so sometimes the interface is not as conducive for a submission with a lot of visuals to explain the idea.
We are mostly solving for new product ideas.
By using Hype, we have been able to reach out to a larger pool of designers across various cities in North America instead of relying only and always on those in our local office.
Modules are easy to understand and use. They also serve a different function so you can more easily focus on making innovations that serve the purpose you are looking to fulfill.
As an admin, there is a clear learning curve to adjust to the platform backend and the different customizations available. However, once that is understood it gets much easier to manage. There are also limited internal reporting options on the metrics we wanted to track, and had to resort to external options utilizing Hype's API. A few more hoops to jump through than we would have liked, but we got to our destination.
Forestry is our business, so we are trying to more efficiently utilize the land we own and extract the most value from our assets while maintaining the highest level of safety and sustainability. Our ideas work to improve the production of wood products, better monitor our timberlands, and keep our employees safe wherever they're working, etc.
Hype Go was very quick to setup. it was very easy to use once set up and perfectly for bringing together all employees to collaborate.
Hype Go! only has two language option currently- english and german. Hype Go! doesn't have an API either. and not very mobile friendly currently.
great for small and medium sized businesses- anything larger could pose a problem in the future.
able to finally collaborate with all employees in the company to problem solve and strategize together.

The Hype platform is tailored to meet my team's needs and the Hype reps are very helpful.
The backend data processing and reporting is not very intuitive to use.
We crowdsource ideas from our employees and run idea campaigns using Hype.
