We switched our in-house server with Datto Workplace and will never switch back! Datto is very easy to use and is secure. One of the best things about Datto is the search function. I can search for a key word and Datto will list every document with the keyword in the file name. This has saved me a ton of time searching through our server for a document that I forgot where I saved it.

The only thing I miss is being able to edit a document and just click save to overwrite the old document. I have to download the document, edit it, then re-save it on Datto. Small price to pay though for having a secure server.

Datto automatically backs up our server, so we no longer have to pay another company to back-up our physical server in our office. We no longer have to worry about the server crashing, which it did once before. This created down time for our firm, and luckily our IT department was able to get us up and running again.

Datto Workplace was very easy to deploy to over 30 workstations. We just used the admin account to send out invite links to all of the users, and then sent them a few short instructions on installing the software and moving their files into the cloud-protected folder.

We had a really hard time migrating data from old servers. Quite a few clients needed to move away from physical servers and wanted their files on Datto Workplace, but moving terabytes of files into the cloud was a little tricky with the latest version of the software. My team ended up finding the trick to doing this, is to install the older version, which allowed you to point to an existing folder and sync that. (The new version creates a folder in which you had to drag the files into, but it capped out at syncing 25GB at a time or something like that. My use last use was early summer 2021, so updates may be in place now.)

Datto Workplace is a great option for anyone considering migrating their files away from a physical server. If you also want to give your office the flexibility of a hybrid work environment this is a great option. I have not personally tried DropBox Professional, so I only know how this product compares to DropBox Personal license, and Datto Workplace blows it out of the water. The best part about Datto as a company is that they've always had top-notch customer support. You can call in and get a live rep in minutes, and every single one I ever talked to was very well trained.

I used Datto Workplace from around 2018 to 2021 at my previous employer. We helped many local businesses go from physical servers to Datto Cloud Storage. This eliminated their need to replace and maintain a physical server in perpetuity and eliminated the costs thereof. It also eliminates the risk of physical drive failures.

the best of workplace is the way that you can share your files with your team, you can even select what and with who. you can, for example. select a folder for user A and the other one to user B.

if you share a folder, you are unable to pass the ownership of it, for example, if an especific user share a folder with college and he move to another job for example, you cant pass that ownership to you, you need to copy all the info to you and then share it

the control on what i share of my data and with who i share it, and even send a link that take you to a file to a third person without the app, and he can check it

The most helpful part of Datto Workplace is the sharing options. You can easily set user permissions, password protects your shares, require validation, expire access after a set amount of time or number of downloads, and require users to log in for auditing purposes. The system automatically captures access logs, as well as usernames and IP addresses. We have an easily accessed record of who accessed files when we do external shares, which has saved us a lot of back and forth if someone claims they never received something.

We have two companies sharing several folders, and the on-premise server sync tool for one of the companies has a consistent error because we can only grant folder ownership to one sync agent at a time. The files still sync, and the end-users don't need to make changes to those folders. But if they did, we would need to figure out a workaround for the folders shared between companies.

Our client has dozens of small locations that need to sync data back to the on-premise Corporate headquarters server. Workplace lets those locations drag and drop their files into a file folder, and the system automatically syncs it back to the server. No extra training is needed for the majority of end-users.

I like the fact that I can compartmentalize the files I need along with my colleagues while sharing files.

The only cumbersome thing with Datto is on my computer, I'm often asked to log back in.

It seems that once files are deleted they're gone for good unlike on a computer where they go into a "recycle bin"

We're solving the problems of having duplicate files. Everyone can access the same digital files and we can keep some things private from eachother depending on our needs.

I love that everyone can have access to the same documents and we are able to tell if someone else has that document open. If two people happen to open the same document at the same time it saves both versions so you can look at them and decide which is the most updated version to keep.

It does cause some problems when 2 people open the same document. If it is a spreadsheet with multiple pages it can take quite some time to figure out which version is the correct and updated version of the file.

We have multiple offices and several people that need access to the same documents and files. This makes it super easy for everyone to be able to access everything at the same time without having to duplicate work. It makes it very easy for one person to start a project, save it, and have another person pick up where the first left off.

Probably the most useful features in Datto Workplace are the recursive undelete and the previous versions.

Had to reinstall it a few times and the sync takes a long time. Maybe is our fault as we are using it quite intense we have million of files, otherwise seems robust.

It is a robust product that offers you centralised access to your file wherever you are. Easy to manage permissions and access.

We use it to access server files without the need for a VPN solution or a file server.

If we let the cat out of the bag about its advantages then we can’t suffer enough because Datto Workplace is all in one thing that we can induce in our systems. It’s important in changing files and accomplish the capacity to feel not to worry around my oeuvre. The positive thing is that I can get behind the group of files in a folder at once and last but not least our electronic signature constitutes an effort to feel us worry-free. Moreover, an application with strange storage capacity and messaging service along with a good scope of synchronization is treated in itself.

Synology made a real good software meeting all the expectations, but there should be more help available to understand its broad functions. Sometimes the internet can make a hurdle in configuration and that’s not a great mess. What is important is its slow transformation rate that could be better with the latest updates.

If I have to describe its function then I must say it’s an excellent application that I could have for my setup. This assists me in data sharing and have a great capacitance to hold my files and brochures. I don’t see any trouble in getting my data. The best thing it serves me in e-mail templates and what a neat thing to bring off my electronic signature at the terminal.
