ControlD has been an amazing DNS service that we've basically used as a drop in replacement to our previous Technitium (and testing PowerDNS). Now, we don't need to worry about having to reboot our DNS LXC container every so often or slow calls or having to manage a long configuration - it just works now. Plus, with Tailscale integration and ctrld software we have on our Kubernetes hosts, it makes it even easier to just click and go with any changes we may need to make for our network. I'm actually surprised it's as cheap as it is, with how many features and integrations are in the system, how simple the UI is, and how quick we could onboard ourselves - I was expecting to have to cut a check for an arm and a leg. But at least as of now, we don't pay anything more then what you'd see for like a Netflix subscription.

Absolutely nothing, I'd fight anyone who says there's bad items about ControlD

Having an internal DNS solution that not only can we block unwanted requests to ads, trackers, MicroSlop, and more - but also establish internal DNS names that only our systems need to see. Now instead of having to set up that dang LXC container and deal with all that, it's a one and done solution.

I greatly appreciate Control D for its easy configuration and deployment, which simplifies managing DNS security and effectively securing endpoints. The initial setup of Control D was incredibly straightforward, taking only one minute, highlighting its user-friendly design. I also value how Control D seamlessly integrates with other tools such as MDM and various cybersecurity products, enhancing my security infrastructure. Switching from Cisco Umbrella to Control D has been a smooth transition due to its efficient setup process and comprehensive capabilities in navigating bad DNS configurations.

Rulesets are a bit abstracted but not a major complaint.

Onboarding was exteremely easy, deployed ControlD on ~80 devices in a matter of minutes (with some basic API scripting). UI is very easy to understand, and looks rather unique relative to other DNS services I used before (dnsfilter, umbrealla). Despite the simplicity of the UI, the features are quite powerful. Not doing anything revoluntary, just blocking malware, social networks, and porn, and it works great.

Fiddinling with their "redirection" feature which masks the IP of the client from various services, its pretty cool, but have yet to find a use case for it except for some of our marketing folks that really love it because they don't need to use a VPN anymore.

Pretty much nothing. The Analytics feature could use some improvement to provide better insights, but I spoke to Yegor and it's already on their roadmap.

Controld makes it easy to have more privacy online, block websites that the kids should not have access to, block malware and other various threats, and block ads and trackers.

There is a bit of learning curve and depending on how much control that you want over your internet access, there will be some sites that get blocked that shouldn't. This is expected, but some people may not like having to whitelist sites that are blocked inadvertently.

What I love most about ControlD is how it seamlessly enhances my online experience without the need for any additional app installations. The ability to block unwanted content, spoof my location, and browse faster is truly remarkable. It puts me in control of my privacy and productivity effortlessly.

I wish ControlD had more customization options for content blocking and clearer information about their data practices. But overall, it's still a handy tool for enhancing privacy and productivity while browsing.

With ControlD, I can block unwanted content, maintain my privacy, and focus on what matters most. It also allows me to access geo-restricted content and browse faster, which greatly enhances my online experience. ControlD saves me time, boosts my productivity, and gives me more control over my online activities.

I love the ability to block ads and tracking elements. The ability to block individual services is useful, which helps with productivity. For an additional fee, you can use the proxy option. As a developer, I appreciate the ability to overwrite records, making hosts files a thing of the past.

Sometimes there are problems with fast updating blocking lists or long long latency from DNS. Instead, there is nothing that support is not willing to help with.

With Control D, I block social media and services that distract me while I work. The ability to overwrite records is also very useful.
