Autodesk makes excellent software for design and drafting in the architectural field. The AEC Collection is a perfect design and drafting bundle for everything an architect would need for day-to-day tasks.

It would be great if we could remove individual software components that come with the bundle to get a lower yearly subscription cost. For instance, our firm personally does not use 3DS Max, which alone is an expensive subscription.

The two main programs we use in the collection are Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD. Our firm has been transitioning to use Revit solely for more projects as we've found that BIM modeling is instrumental in the design and schematic layout process of the project. Exporting the 3D model to other 3rd party rendering software such as Enscape and Twinmotion has been great to showcase the design to our clients.

Autodesk has combined various tools to create AEC collection. The best part about this package it has Revit, Autocad and other applications at one place which can be used for variety of applications.

The price of the entire package is fairly high especially if you are running a small practice. Autodesk should work to reduce the price a bit lower.

The AEC collection can be used for the entire lifecycle of the building. Generally I have used it for creating BIM models during design development and construction stages.

All the software we require to model project is contained within a single package.

Would like to see an AEC Collection option to contain BIM 360 licensing combined rather than having to manage separate software licenses.

The AEC Collection is simple to administer and use. Installation through the Autodesk.com portal is relatively simple especially when creating deployment files. I would, however, recommend that your software vendor has a deep knowledge base in their customer support.

Ever since Navisworks Manage has been combined into the AEC Collection, we are able to design, model and coordinate our projects. Design tools contained in the Revit platform have improved over time and are now providing more effective and efficient production levels. Navisworks Manage has proven to be a valuable tool to resolve many multidisciplinary coordination issues in a clear and graphically easy to understand method.

After being in the Reseller channel many years ago, the main thing that the AEC Collection Solves is having access to all platforms without a huge overhead. This is pivotal for those clients that execute every aspect of a project but maybe only need a certain software 5% of the time. Clients were more inclined to not utilize certain tools because their frequency of use did not match the cost that was associated. This allows them to confidently access many tools in their toolkit while optimizing overhead costs.

One of the downsides that I see to the AEC collection is that the Installations are still very large. This poses issues to those that are utilizing a number of the tools in the collection as it put a strain on the hardware requirements. Having more flexibility to virtualize the software and licenses would be beneficial.

If you are able to, evaluate what products are going to be used by each user or user group and optimize how you package your deployments from there. This will help the IT team immensely when a new hire is brought on board so that they are operational right out of the gate instead of waiting for the installs to happen. Also, you want to make sure that the users have access to the updates on a regular basis so that they are in line with the other team members and using the same build of the software.

The main problem that we are able to solve is being able to give access to a large toolkit for the teams to leverage in all aspects of the project. This allows us to train and execute more work internally which increases efficiency and productivity. Standardizing the platform that we are using as well instill in us confidence that we are going to see minimal to no information loss when passing files back and forth between all members of the team.

Our entire team gets to use the perfect tool for each of their specialties. Through the common platform our team can use efficient 2D tools to plan, 3D tools to develop & visualize, and BIM tools to enhance the facility operations.

Sometimes too much is just too much. A user may need more than one platform, but not all in the package. It means I am buying more than I use.

We use this package as a software solution to a multi-disciple coordination tool for a talented workforce.

As a professional who needs access to multiple types of engineering software, the collection has been a great value. Everything I need to complete my job and assist others has been included.

There are additional tools that I don't even bother to download. Though that isn't too much of an issue to ignore

As a software manager for my firm the collection has made it easier for me to manage to seats that our employees use. no more juggles of individual licenses.

I like the ubiquity of the software throughout the industry. I feel pretty confident that we'll be investing in tools with compatibility as a result.

As an electrical contractor, the lack of features I need to to my job efficiently is downright painful. I don't like having to invest thousands of dollars in SysQue as an add-on for a feature set I feel should be available out of the box with Revit.

We interface with a lot of other subcontractors, general contractors, and clients. From preplanning, to modeling, prefabrication, digital point layout, and records, I think we're using AEC Collection products at every stage.
