AppColl links electronically with USPTO data to update prosecution deadlines each day.

Nothing significant comes to mind; I wish it were easier to customize, but that's more an indication that I have very little time to devote to such mastery.

AppColl tracks prosecution deadlines and allows for convenient cloud document storage. AppColl also provides a nifty biling module to allow our timekeepers to enter billable time efficiently, that is easily retrievable by our accounting staff..

I love AppColl. I like that it's web-based so I can access it anywhere without horsing around with some antiquated VPN system. I like that it integrates with the USPTO's website to automatically download status updates for trademark matters, and now also you can manually instruct it to update patent matters from Private Pair once you've uploaded your credentials. I love that you can customize tasks and have automated emails be sent once specific events have occurred, or tasks have been created or closed. Simply put, this software allows me to run my practice without any administrative help because I have it set up to automatically generate all of my routine reminder letters/emails, as well as all of the template letters/emails that go out to clients. I also really like the Invoice module, which I use for all of my billing. I have been using this software for at least six years, and it has only gotten better with each update they put through.

From time to time I have come across bugs in the software. That being said, this happens less and less often, and they always strive to have it fixed as soon as possible.

AppColl is the single most important piece of software that I use on a daily basis. It handles my matter management, docketing, billing, and even automatically generates template emails and letters for me.

AppColl's Support is wonderful! The ability to validate the data with the USPTO & Espacenet. Letter generation with the valid data makes mistakes a thing of the past. Importing and updating massive changes throughout the database with ease and speed. Saving time with automatically generating and sending the IP Staff dockets at a set time. Modification of tasks accordingly to the firms practice. The list is too long.

So far, there hasn't been anything I have disliked. There is so much room for so many activities.

Have your tasks and reminders (if needed) known and set the tasks in AppColl prior to uploading the data. Know what your firm expects the software to do and programming accordingly. Ask support if you have any questions.

Keeping track of Docketing dates, validating data with USPTO and Espacenet. Generating form letters with correct data.

I appreciate that you can customize almost any setting to fit your need. If it is not customizable, there are ways around the settings to utilize the program in the best way for your firm workflow. I also enjoy the extensive training materials and ample assistance that's responsive in regards to urgent inquiries.

In regards to my own work experience, I wish that the system would have had more custom tasks for foreign work on both the patent and trademark side. That being said, it's been an opportunity to develop our own new protocols for docketing via the custom aspects and adaptability of AppColl.

We have worked extensively with Gregg Hart at AppColl to meet our firm's needs as we migrate from our old software program to AppColl. The speediness (web-based) aspect of the program has been an improvement for us, and is assisting in the expedience of our docketing workflow. Gregg has also advised how to achieve the settings/custom tasks and triggered tasks we would like in our department to organize protocols for the future so that we can avoid issues we may have been experiencing in the past, or are currently experiencing with the crossover/recent uploads to the new system.

Obviously created by patent attorneys who know what we need to run a lawfirm. Outstanding modules organize all our data and allows us to filter and run reports from a myriad of fields. Lots of options for automatic emails sent to users internally, as well as external clients etc. The Appcoll tandem feature is great for allowing our clients or other stakeholders to have an insight into their relevant docket. I appreciate that Appcoll continually updates and adds more features to streamline our work.

I wish there was a manual showing all the database queries where I could reformat them for my own reports, but when I eamil the support team, they generally just give me the wording I need.

Appcoll allows me to run my lawfirm procedures and simplify processes for our clients. I love the integration with quickbooks for sending invoices. The IDS module is very powerful and has increased our effeciency and accuracy significantly.

The whole platform is perfect for an IP law firm. AppColl's task module and email notifications are amazing. I love their invoicing module and we use it for all of our client invoices. Their customer support is fantastic, they are one of the most responsive companies I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend AppColl over any other platforms I've used in the past.

I highly recommend AppColl IPM. It's truly the best system we've used and they are constantly adding or updating features to make it better.

AppColl helps us manage all of our IP matters, files, client contacts, client invoicing, and docket lists. We really benefit from using AppColl to streamline our work and have everything in one place - docket lists, references, documents, invoices, contact information. Their customer support is very responsive and great to work with.

Auto-docketing, IDS management, entirely customizable report generation, one-click data download (to spreadsheet or word doc), etc.

I can't think of a thing I'd change -- great job by the AppColl team.

Dramatically lowering overhead for billing and docketing

AppColl provides an integrated solution for patent docketing and billing, better than anything I have seen. It is infinitely configurable, and not only automated in task generation, but easily adjustable according to our firm's needs. And, the technical support is second to none. All of my queries are generally handled same day. I've personally developed 2 patent docketing systems because what the market provided was simply inadequate, or overly complex. AppColl is robust, while easy to use. I'll never look for a better solution.

Honestly, I can't think of anything. AppColl is the perfect foundation for any patent practice.

Auto generation of tasks, and communication with the US Patent Office is incredible, and has dramatically lowered our costs for docket management. Further, I had very specific needs of being able to have two 'rates' for every slip. A rate for the clients AND a rate for my folks. Now, when an attorney creates a slip, we know what to bill the clients AND when the client pays, we know how much to pay the attorney. It is turnkey, and completely integrated within AppColl. This feature didn't exist when I looked at AppColl, but after some emails with their tech support, we had several discussions with the design team. six months later, viola, AppColl had created the perfect solution. And all of that was before I was a customer! I'd tried to work with several practice management companies, and none of them were interested in my needs. AppColl is different. The program is fantastic, and its people are even better.

Every team's workflow is a bit different. AppColl is very configurable. The customer support team is very responsive. They are closely tied to the development team. When I began using AppColl, 7 years ago, they implemented some feature requests for me. However, the product has gradually improved over the years such that it has almost every feature I can think of. Also, the training and online help resources are abundant and accurate, much more so than most SaaS tools.

I am a member of the National Association of Patent Practitioners, an organization comprising mainly small firm and solo practitioners. AppColl is by far the most used docketing solution for members. One commonly mentioned feature that is unique to AppColl is the ability to track prior art citations across applciations and families and automatically generate IDS forms.

Advanced customization can be difficult for non-technical users. The GUI is not graphically very beautiful. Some of the buttons and functions are not quite clear, so you need to learn about them to get the most out of the tool. Take advantage of the training and online resources.

AppColl is the most intuitive and easy to navigate IP-centric software I worked with over the last 20+ years. The organization of elements in and structure of the web-based interface leaves nothing to be desired (and is even customizable to some degree). The matter and contact search feature is powerful and will pull records accurately even from incomplete entries. There are many automation features that make forms and document creation a snap and AppColl uses autodocketing from Patent Center records. Next to docketing, time keeping and invoice generation is simple. While an available option, I have not yet implemented the IDS module and document management system.

In terms of functionality, the system has been up and running with no hiccups or unannouced downtime. It simply works and is there when you need it. Over the years of daily use, this is a remarkably stable, simple, and powerful tool. Best of all, the AppColl support is incredibly responsive and will go the extra mile to explain or help out with features or configurations that are not reaily intuitive.

The interface is visually not the most artistic or up-to-date looking, but I take reliability and functionality any day over good looks.

AppColl reduces much hands-on time, requires no significant training time for new hires, and give significant flexibility to adopt to your practice style.
