I really like the new layout of the object navigator. I also like that I can click on a job in the runbook and it shows up in the instance box. The new soft disable function has been by far my favorite feature.

I do wish that the toolbox bar in the jobs library was a bit wider. I also experience issues with AB freezing or not updating and I have to close everything and reopen the application.

The ability to transform usual manual jobs into automated processes has been the biggest benefit of having AB.

I like so much about ActiveBatch that it makes us inhumane coordinating between departments on different tasks. Rather than needing to have separate schedulers or requesting for jobs to be kicked off manually, all is governed by rules and schedules. This has helped pull the IT/data teams together, and the loose coupling has made it useful when the scripts depend on each other. The things that are running are well known to everyone, when they are and why, without any extra emails or check-ins.

Something that I do not like about ActiveBatch is that the interface looking a little dated and clunky when trying to build new workflows. In some cases, minor changes are not as simple as a few extra clicks or layers of settings combined to slow us down. Furthermore, jobs fail sometimes with less than clear error messages and so it takes more time when troubleshooting. It definitely increases friction of daily use, but it doesn’t change the system being reliable.

ActiveBatch has enabled us to reduce the manual work on scheduling overnight and off hour jobs that used to require someone to stay late. Additionally, tasks are no longer run by humans which means they are now less prone to errors as tasks run automatically and in a fairly enjoyed sequence. It has helped our delivery times in allowing the team to have some breathing room and focus on more of the strategic items. Most definite affect it has had on how we are able to do the repetitive, time sensitive work across departments.

ActiveBatch provides automated workflow management capabilities which enable me to establish and control tasks between multiple systems through an effortless process. ActiveBatch enables me to execute data transfers between databases and cloud services without involving human operators thus maintaining consistent data while lowering error rates. The tool provides seamless application integration that enables full automation of company business operations. The system provides immediate notification features which enable me to take prompt action whenever issues surface during operation.

The process of initial implementation requires extensive effort and lasts for a long duration. Small teams without specific IT experts might find the required infrastructure knowledge barrier to implement this solution effectively. The system's user interface often becomes too busy which creates difficulties for fast navigation through the system. Novice users tend to experience substantial challenges while adapting to the system since they will require additional training for mastering its functions.

ActiveBatch Workload Automation serves as an effective solution for controlling and automating evaluation of advanced workflows. Previously I handled scheduling and task monitoring tasks through manual processes that used significant periods of time while consistently producing mistakes. The system operates with automated and centralized functions that help decrease administrative duties and enhance accuracy rates. The system enables me to define nightly batch processes which execute automatically without any issues. The system has improved operational efficiency while simultaneously cutting down on operational downtime. The system provides enhanced workflow performance tracking which enables better resources optimization and distribution.

Active Batch is easy to pick up quickly.

Change Management is a bit clunky. you can't search for the path you are trying to get to.

Automation and reporting

ActiveBatch Workload Automation is unique because it is so able to schedule. Since complex workflows like automating our monthly reporting is perfect, it’s just what we needed. One thing that is something I still find simple to use is the drag and drop interface which makes creating and editing work flows easier. I use it in everyday situations, and seen how it seamlessly supplemented our current data transfers and updates, as hard work gets taken care of.

The one thing I’d pick is that the initial setup can be overwhelming for new users. However steep the learning curve is and your understanding of the features naturally rises with use. It has a real charm to it, for most tasks, but the documentation is not very user friendly, especially for beginners. This did not happen, yet the interface feels a little outdated to me, compared to others. Often, it feels you need to be a seasoned pro before your able to use everything it offers.

From a practical point of view, I like how ActiveBatch eliminates bottlenecks effectively. It was a nightmare to manage our batch processes before using it and there was always a lot of chances of making mistakes. Now it is all computerized and this has saved a lot of time that could otherwise have been used in other activities. It makes things surprisingly simple, especially when it comes to the working of complex processes. For instance, earlier, it was a herculean task to manage data transfer between different departments.

Tree structure for objects is much more efficient for data separation between Prod and Non-Prod and between clients, projects or groups.

Having recent experience with a product that used a flat structure, I have greater appreciation for it. Imagine having a file system that allowed only a root folder and a single layer of child folders, no other subfolders. AB, in contrast, allows subfolders.

The Execution Queue paradigm in AB makes selecting which servers run jobs extremely easy.

Exporting objects from AB is remarkably easy.

Active batch is a great tool that we use for automation at our company. It is easy to use, reliable and support is helpful.

If I could improve one thing, it'd be better ways to filter specific types of jobs in searches.

ActiveBatch is the tool we use to run all of our processes. It saves a lot of time that would be needed if things were to be run manually.

Activebatch is very easy to work with. It has a very good interface, documentation and support is very eager to answer questions and resolve any issues.

I don't really have any major dislikes. I prefer perpetual licenses to a subscription model but that is a different conversation from features and support

Activebatch is running processing 24x7 for over 19 years and is not requiring large support staff. it is easy for developers building processes to work with.

ActiveBatch workload automation can integrate with a wide variety of platform and programming/scripting languages. Their customer support is flexible and fast. We run over 12,000 jobs daily with a rate of failure of less than 0.1 %, which we have never accomplished before with other scheduling products.

Some documentation are outdated, mainly their documentation about the COM API object.

Reducing the rate of failure of jobs, improving the stability of the platform, and better integration with other platforms thru their REST API.
