Lightweight, Customizable OS That Runs Fast on Older Hardware
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
It’s a very lightweight OS that’s highly customizable and efficient. We found it to be more resource-friendly, and the overall speed is also good. One of its strongest points is that it supports older hardware.
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
It uses the default interface, which feels outdated, so the whole OS comes across as old. It also needs a few manual tweaks to get things the way I want. High-resolution display support is less robust than in GNOME or KDE.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
The major use case for us in this scenario is older hardware—essentially addressing hardware obsolescence while still providing solid performance for resource-heavy computing. We were able to work with just 2 GB of RAM as well, without any major issues.

Efficient Computing with Xubuntu: Performance, Stability, and Practicallly
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
What I like most about Xubuntu is the great balance it strikes between speed and usability. The lightweight XFCE desktop environment keeps everything running smoothly, even on older hardware, while still offering enough customization and stability for everyday use and routine tasks.
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
What I dislike about Xubuntu is that its default interface feels a bit outdated and not as visually appealing as other modern desktop environments. On top of that, it takes some manual customization and extra setup to get a more polished look, and to install the commonly used applications I want.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ubuntu meets my need for a secure, stable, and free operating system. It benefits me by offering reliable performance, regular updates, and easy access to a wide range of software without any additional cost.

Ubuntu Compatibility in a Lightweight UI
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
Full compatibility with the Ubuntu ecosystem (including debian packager for .deb and apt support) with a simple and resource-efficient UI that is more familiar to Windows users than Gnome/KDE/Unity.
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
Light UI has less eyecandy than other distributions, but this is of course intentional so that it runs well on older or underpowered hardware while remaining completely usable.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
Xubuntu provides a clean and simple interface and desktop environment that will perform well on low-end hardware but still feel comfortable and usable to even users with little to no Linux experience.

Lightweight, Easy-to-Manage Xubuntu with a Smooth Update Experience
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
One of the strengths of the Xubuntu distribution is definitely its lightweight graphical interface, which is easy to use and manage. In addition, the update process for its base kernel (the Linux kernel) and the software that supports the entire operating system are well suited to the needs of users who interact with this operating system on a daily basis. Of the Ubuntu distributions we have worked with, the one that gives us the most satisfaction is the one with this XFace interface.
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
In some specific situations, for software repositories that are not standard for the software package management system, it becomes somewhat complicated for novice users to update/upgrade these software platforms, since the usual way to solve any type of problem is solely and exclusively through console commands. Of course, this is not a problem for users with intermediate/advanced knowledge.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to rely on an Ubuntu-based operating system that can run on physical/virtual hardware without requiring so many technological resources for its installation/deployment is definitely a very valuable asset for us, especially since we have almost adopted it as the base OS for the development team to use in their day-to-day work. This definitely makes us much more productive and allows us to optimize development times much more when a new user joins the development team.

An Efficient Desktop Experience Built for Long Work Sessions
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
What I like most about Xubuntu is how practical and dependable it feels in daily use. It runs smoothly without demanding a lot of system resources, which makes a noticeable difference, especially on machines that aren’t very high-end. The desktop stays responsive even when multiple applications are open, and I don’t have to worry about sudden slowdowns or freezes. I also appreciate the simple and uncluttered layout, as it keeps things easy to navigate and avoids unnecessary distractions. Overall, it feels like an operating system that focuses on stability and efficiency rather than flashy features, which suits my work style well. The installation and initial setup are straightforward, even for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of time configuring the system. I use it regularly because it stays fast and reliable for day-to-day tasks, which makes it practical for continuous use. Whenever I’ve needed help, the community support and documentation have been very useful, with clear solutions available for most common issues. Xubuntu also integrates well with the applications and tools I normally use, so installing and running software doesn’t require much extra effort. Overall, it feels simple to implement, easy to maintain, and dependable for everyday work.
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
There isn’t anything I strongly dislike about Xubuntu, but some aspects do take a bit of getting used to. The desktop is very minimal by design, so users coming from more visually rich environments may initially feel that it looks basic. Also, certain customizations or applications may require a little manual setup compared to more mainstream operating systems. That said, these are more about personal preference, and the simplicity actually helps keep the system fast and stable once you adjust to it.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
Xubuntu addresses the problem of operating systems becoming heavy and resource-hungry over time, which often leads to slow performance and frequent distractions. It is designed to be lightweight and efficient, making it especially useful on systems where hardware resources are limited. For me, this means I can run my daily applications without noticeable lag, even when multitasking. The system remains stable during long work sessions and doesn’t get in the way with unnecessary background processes. This reliability helps me stay focused on my work rather than worrying about system slowdowns or crashes, ultimately making my day-to-day computing smoother and less stressful.

Xubuntu: Superfast, Lightweight, and Highly Customisable on Low-Resource PCs
What do you like best about Xubuntu?
.The thing I like most about xubuntu is it runs superfast even in a computer with low ram or storage and also it needs less resources to work
What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
And one of the best advantage is it's highly customisable and light weight with timely updates
Recommendations to others considering Xubuntu?
The ui is too boring we need to customise it and we need to put extra effort in setting up the things like from the theme to keyboard shortcuts, power management, gestures and every thing you needed
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a free and open source software which eliminates the cost for buying other softwares and also the maintenance cost of very low compared to the other operating systems and it runs with the existing old hardware no need to buy the new hardware just to upgrade the os

What do you dislike about Xubuntu?
Perhaps less application choices over standard ubuntu.
What problems is Xubuntu solving and how is that benefiting you?
Linux solutions are important as they augment the enterprise environment. Additionally, open source security products run more seemlessly on Linux than on Windows offering a more diverse solution set.
