Implementation could be tricky in larger environments
It helps to manage the multiple location in single view as centralized console. it saves time.
Auto deployment and life cycle manager compliance
Disabling external plugins in version 8 and certain versions
Fail over of VMS and replication services between two sites
It is rock solid, enterprise ready and the go to standard for virtualisation on prem
Some early releases of major versions can have more bugs than is worth risking.
Vcenter allows centralised management of the virtual infrastructure and servers. Lots of things can plug into vcenter and we do our VMware server monitoring , backups and bcdr all through VMware vcenter
I Like how I can se my Simplivity cluster not only which is onsite but also simplivity which is off site which can be also accessed during a DR situation. One place for all VM's and a reliable place to have you backup's. The backup policy and profile setup is very easy and againthe support team is a wonderful team helping you 24/7. Not to forget about the tools you get like VMware tools to see DNS name, ipaddress etc of the VM without even loggin in
This is a versatile solution with nothing to dislike about. Its all about understanding how things work and you ready.
I can see all my servers at one place. Easy to just to them login to them via VMware and you dont have to hassle of trying to ssh them with wrong ipaddress. Server monitoring has been never been easier better than any NMS system. I get notified/error when a VM is less on space/ using up RAM and other problems.
VmWare vCenter is 100% webbased management. The product is easy to use and understand. VMWare's upgrade process has gotten a lot better over the years.
Some of the downsides of VmWare vCenter is common to all Linux based systems. In every version it has bugs and you will commonly have to drop to the command line to fix problems.
VmWare vCenter solves all of our management issuses when working with ESXi.
The most valuable thing about vCenter is linked mode, vCenter Lifecycle Management to manage the update lifecycle of infrastructure. The ecosystem of plugins is rich and variely.
The dependency of esxi that exsists with vCenter for enable cluster options and advanced features like HA, DRS, DPM and Virtual Distributed Switches, and finally the integration with other products like NSX-T also require this component.
Use the vCenter inventory for locate the virtual servers and edit the main settings of each one is something really good, and the easybilty to manage the main resources of one or more datacenters (CPU, MEMORY, NETWORK and STORAGE), also have integration with many identity sources like Microsoft Active driectory.

VMWARE Vcenter one of the most powerful tool to manage large infra, also one of the great product as 3 tier infrastucture . Manage and Administration is also easy.

VMWARE Vcenter one of the most powerful tool to manage large infra, also one of the great product as 3 tier infrastucture . Manage and Administration is also easy.
The interface has come a long way over the years and the HTLM5 interface is near the quality of the fat-client they used to have.
1. Single pane of glass type interface.
2. Each host de-dupes RAM so that each VM doesn't use the full amount of memory.
3. The ability to add notes.
4. Well organized.
5. Easy to search.
6. Responsive.
7. It gets better with each release.
1. I miss the topology wire map that shows all the various relationships between hosts, storage, networks, and VMs. That was very helpful in showing the size of each cluster.
2. If you have dissimilar VMs (power state, resource pools, etc.) it is hard to effect mass changes such as vMotion.
3. Lack of Smart Card login (Windows Authentication can be used as a workaround).
4. Upgrades are painful.
5. Inability to save configuration to local location/share (must set up SFTP site).
Adds major functionalities such as vMotion and sVmotion that ESXi alone doesn't give you.

I like the best of my experience is the manage all of VM's and hosts and show the reports.
There isn't a feature I don't like yet. It is very useful and I enjoy using it.
One day, one of my servers was not opening. I installed it on the other host with vcenter and it worked without any problems.
