Unit21’s flexible data ingestion, the ability to build custom rules, and the support from our CSM and the Unit21 Development team are all reasons I’ve been very happy with our decision to partner with Unit21. Before, we were using a more rigid system, which was not meeting our need for a real-time, adaptive solution. With Unit21, as long as we have the data fields mapped into the platform, we can build a rule specifically targets what we are trying to prevent. The options for rule validation, shadow mode, and rule replication are all great tools we use to iterate on the exact detection logic we need. Our team has really learned how to leverage that, and we've seen a lot of growth as they've become empowered to try building rules in response to new trends.

I also love that our feedback has been taken into consideration in improving the platform; we have been able to influence the development of a comprehensive loss tracking module that meets all our tracking and reporting needs. There have been multiple examples where we've seen changes made to the platform as a direct result of our suggestions. It feels like a true partnership.

The blessing of Unit21 is it's flexibility in ingesting our data and allowing custom rule-building, but that also means we have to know our data extremely well and build some things from the ground up. We have overcome these challenges with great CSM and Developer support.

The Unit21 team operates as a true extension of our compliance function. They bring deep technical expertise in rule tuning, threshold optimization, and AI Agent configuration—areas where most vendors provide limited support. Our collaboration on rules such as HIFCA, HIDTA, and internal transfer detection has led to measurable improvements in detection quality that we can confidently defend. The team is also highly responsive and consistently available when we need support.

Haven't experienced any setbacks from a user point of view.

Before adopting Unit21, we struggled with effectively monitoring and isolating alerts. Our RFI queue, for example, wasn’t functioning as intended and failed to properly isolate alerts, leading to inefficiencies. Unit21 helped us resolve those issues by enabling us to reconfigure the RFI queue to function more like a case queue, significantly improving our workflow. Rule-building is another area where we’ve seen major benefits. In the past, creating effective, manageable business rules was a challenge. Unit21 has made that process much more intuitive, and their team has been instrumental in helping us refine our rules. While we’re still working on optimizing certain aspects—like enhancing the AI agent to generate more actionable insights—the system has already saved us time by automating parts of our workflow and reducing manual effort. It’s not perfect yet, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

I love that Unit21 allowed us to consolidate all of our AML and fraud monitoring into one system, providing us with clear visibility of alerts and cases. Having everything in one place for monitoring and filing obligations is super convenient. Very few vendors could accommodate our desire to combine Core Bank and FinTech into a single monitoring environment, so Unit21 doing this was huge for us. Additionally, I appreciate the level of customization with rules and capabilities that go well beyond what most vendors offer.

CTR workflows are more manual than we expected, and this has doubled our time spent on CTR filing. Beyond that, most of our pain points tend to come down to the ability to locate, filter or export certain data points that we need.

I use Unit21 to monitor transactions, detect fraud, and manage compliance investigations all in one place. I like how easy it is to customize workflows and rules without coding, which makes spotting fraud and managing investigations much faster. The AI features really help simplify complex data, and they help me catch fraud faster and reduce false alerts. The setup was pretty straightforward, and most of it we could do without coding.

Sometimes setting up complex rules can be a bit tricky, and the reporting interface could be more intuitive. A few more templates or guided setup would make it easier for new users.

The organization and documentation features for alerts and cases are incredibly useful, ensuring our processes are well-documented and accessible. Additionally, the reporting and statistical capabilities for alerts and cases allow us to prepare and organize our department effectively in our unique way. The integration with our in-house developed core system and ComplyAdvantage enhances our monitoring and compliance efforts. I truly find the ability to design processes and access reporting in our preferred manner super friendly, making Unit21 a solution I'd choose again. Overall, I'd rate it a 9 out of 10 and highly recommend it.

Unit21 allows me to create custom rules with ease, improving department organization. It streamlines transaction monitoring, alert investigations, and SAR filings, enhancing our workflow with user-friendly design and robust reporting capabilities.

The bulk admin function has been really useful for clearing alerts quickly. I like that I can clear out false positives efficiently and keep things manageable. It's also helpful to have a clear logic behind why certain alerts are flagged, even if it's because there's no history in the platform yet. That transparency makes it easier to explain things to my boss and stay on top of what's happening. The flexibility to tweak rules after the initial setup is also a big plus.

Some of the rule setup options can feel a bit complex at first, but once you get used to the logic, it’s manageable.

We needed a transaction monitoring tool to meet bank requirements, and Unit21 has helped us satisfy those compliance needs. Before using Unit21, we didn't have a system in place for monitoring transactions in near real-time, which is important for keeping bad actors out. While we're still building history in the platform, the ability to clear false positives quickly has been a big time-saver. It's also been helpful to have a straightforward process for monitoring alerts and adjusting rules as needed. Overall, Unit21 has made it easier to meet our compliance obligations and keep things running smoothly.

The flexibility of the rules and the ability to customize them to fit our specific needs is what I like most about Unit21. For example, we've been able to create rules that screen external entities based on specific criteria like token set ratios and other custom data fields. The platform allows us to validate and tweak these rules before going live, which is really helpful. I also appreciate that the team is responsive and willing to help us with adjustments when needed. The setup process for features like watchlist screening has been straightforward, and the platform's design makes it easy to configure workflows and buttons for our internal processes.

I have been using Unit21 for three years now, and there have always been areas for improvement, but I feel that recently, the improvements have been substantial, and I can't find any negative points to highlight.

Just to mention one thing: there is a lack of courses with certifications.

Before using Unit21, we had challenges with managing and customizing our compliance processes, especially when it came to screening external entities and reducing false positives. We also needed a system that could handle specific use cases, like focusing on sanctions screening for certain regions or identifying third-party entities based on custom data. Unit21 has helped us address these issues by providing tools that allow us to fine-tune our rules and thresholds, which has reduced noise in the system and made our workflows more efficient.

I Dislike that sometimes when working on a Case with a lot of information, it can update wrong, and end up deleting all info from the case, either added Alerts, or Users.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML), with the use of its alerts that generate when certain triggers are met.

Helps keep in control the user´s accounts, and keep an overview of the overall activity

Unit21 is constantly iterating on its products and services after curating feedback from both its users and industry players. This contributes to the functionality and optimization of the software benefitting all. If something does not work, they are willing to listen and quickly provide services through excellent customer support.

The case management is highly flexible and can easily be customized implemented for multiple works streams. The team continues to use and leverage new features to optimize their work.

As this is a shared application, response times can vary depending on traffic from all customers. There is not a dedicated space. While this may not be as problematic for AML rules it is a consideration for appropriate rules engines and data optimization.

Unit 21’s rule-building feature offers flexibility for users to create and implement rules that align closely with their specific business operations. It’s a nimble and fairly intuitive tool.

The strength of the feature is also its limitation: the user interface is designed with a rule builder in mind, rather than an AML manager focused on day-to-day case management and operational workflows.

Unit 21 is the primary Transaction Monitoring System for our business.
