Makes equitable communication easy!
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
The best part about taking points is how it offers teachers, like me, the ability to communicate with parents of all languages. It makes the process super seamless!
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
I dislike how the program functions far better with parents who download the app -- I wish it would work just as well for parents who are just using it thought texting.
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
TalkingPoints allow my communication to be equitable for ALL families -- whether we speak the same language or not. It allows me to partner with families, and vise-versa.

Wonderful for Multilingual Learners and Families
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
The best part about TalkingPoints is the ease of use. I can have a family walk into the school building, and in minutes, I can be a contact at school that can communicate in their language and make them feel welcome.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
One thing I dislike is there is a bug in the app that occasionally makes messages lag in updating. Same with the online platform. I've also heard that the Arabic interpretation is often incorrect.
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem TalkinPoints solves for me is the inability to engage parents in school due to a language barrier. Now this issue is completely solved. My whole building can use this app to speak to parents.

Helpful Communication Tool
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
I appreciate how you can set the home language for each student individually because there is such a variety of languages in some classes. I can communicate quickly with parents that do not speak my first language. Most parents/ adult caretakers of my students tend to read texts, instead of emails, so that is also helpful.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
I do not like how one person sets the class list. When students move in and out of the district it is irritating asking them each time to update the list, instead of doing it yourself.
Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints?
TalkingPoints is a highly valuable communication tool that translates texts for your groups, or individuals, into the language(s) set as their primary language(s).
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do not speak all of the languages that the parents speak, and this program bridges the gap so we can communicate quickly about their students. The translations must be accurate enough because the parents will engage with me using this resource.

The best thing for me about Talking Points is how I can sen messages to my parents and it automatically translate to their language. It doesn't matter what language.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
There is nothing I dislike about Talking points. However I wish it would automatically be assigned to all my parents, and it don't give them a choice not to have access to it

This is one of the best ways to communicate with parents. My entire school uses it faithfully.
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the translation problems. I don't have to worry about copying and pasting in different languages. I am more productive at getting messages out to parents.

Talking Points is an effortless tool to be nimbly connected to families with many valuable features.
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
The ease of use is the most helpful feature with access across platforms.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
I wish I were better able to transition from free to small scale implementation.
Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints?
Find a teacher who is concerned about connecting with families and help them get started by loading in contact information. After they are set up, it won't take more than the first interaction with a family to convince them of its value.
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
Talking Points is making building level set up and maintenance much less demanding of time and resources.

Breaking down communication barriers
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
Talking Points has opened up communication with my non-English speaking families and has allowed me to serve them in ways I couldn't before. Once the relationship is established, my student's parents can reach out to me anytime with their questions and concerns.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
I also like how a PDF of our conversations can be saved and that the doc includes a transcript of both English and the native language of the person I am communicating with.
Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints?
I have to be careful of how I word things because sometimes the translation doesn't come out as intended. I wish there was a way to check for the authenticity of my message.
What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?
One problem that has been resolved is that my ability to have direct communication with parents, eliminates misunderstandings presented by the student. For example, the student might say X about an assignment to the parent, when really parents need to know Y. Talking Points allows me to clarify.

But other than these, Talking point is wonderful tool to get connected with parents Quick communication tools good communication tools
What do you like best about TalkingPoints?
Fast and easy notification to all parents. Announcement feature is well designed.
What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?
Sometimes parents didn't get the message due to 3rd party phone service block, or app was deleted, etc. We do not know that parents didn't get the message. It will be good to send us a report to let us know that specific number(s) are un-deliverable. In addition, if talking point can add a feature to retrieve a message within certain time in case the message was an error.
