What do you like best about Sycamore School?

The tech support is responsive and helpful, and they make changes and upgrades based on customer suggestions--one of the most important things I look for with tech companies!

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

We are an alternative school with an individually-paced, mastery-based program. There are no systems out there that I've found, including Sycamore, that accommodate this type of grading, so we are forced to be "creative" with the classrooms and grading and keep many of the grades in spreadsheets outside of Sycamore.

What problems is Sycamore School solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sycamore keeps our school information organized and accessible--going all the way back to the beginning of the school in 2010! We are able to access what we need and complete processes like attendance, grade reporting, behavior reporting, records requests, communication with parents and students by email and text, and more.

What do you like best about Sycamore School?

Sycamore is very interactive! It is easy to use and incorporate in everyday life! From communication with parents, to checking grades, and counting discipline notices, sycamore is great!

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

Sycamore is very robust. Meaning, they have so many features. Because of that, there is a large learning curve that must take place for users to understand Sycamore. However, after a short time, users will learn the necessary steps to make their incorporation of Sycamore successful.

Recommendations to others considering Sycamore School?

Gather a team of leaders in your school that are able to work collaboratively on implementing Sycamore. By gathering a team of implementation staff, the administration's load is lessened.

What problems is Sycamore School solving and how is that benefiting you?

WCA uses Sycamore as their sole SIS. Grades, communication with families, tracking discipline notices, etc. are some of the benefits of using Sycamore.

We have used Sycamore School for a number of years and have found it to be a quality product.

What do you like best about Sycamore School?

Flexibility and response to issues that have presented themselves. The reps are flexible and are willing to work through the problem to resolution.

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

The product is solid and designed in an intuitive way.

Recommendations to others considering Sycamore School?

The major complaint we have had over the years is the number of "buttons" that need to be pushed to navigate between classes. That has gotten better, and we are hoping progress continues.

We have had report problems that needed to be tweeked. The staff understood the problem and has worked with us to solve the problem.

Sycamore allows me as a teacher to conveniently create lesson plans, log grades, and communicate with parents all in one easy-to-use website.

At times, there has been a delay in receiving pass-a-notes.

Sycamore is a very concise and easy to use website for teachers and parents.

What do you like best about Sycamore School?

I like how I can create lesson plans, grade, offer comments, and contact parents all on the same school site. All student documentation is at easy access for me.

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

There is nothing missing from this product. It is very well done and offers great explanation on how to get started on using all the tabs. There is nothing I would add.

What problems is Sycamore School solving and how is that benefiting you?

Communicating with parents is key. Sycamore offers a direct line between teacher and parents. Parents can be alerted about grades immediately. Batch emails can be sent out to keep parents informed about what is happening in the classroom daily.

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

Some functions seem a little 'clunky' or cumbersome (hard to sync with gmail, for example). However, I have not worked with other school management software, so I really don't have a basis for comparison.

Recommendations to others considering Sycamore School?

I wish there were tutorial videos for parents.

What do you like best about Sycamore School?

Pretty powerful tool, online application and registration, student lists and classes all in one place, scheduling, and so much more

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

Although it's not super intuitive, it does have a ton of videos, webinars and a help section. And if I can't find an answer to my question, the support team has always answered quickly!

What problems is Sycamore School solving and how is that benefiting you?

Report cards, transcripts, parent teacher interaction and parents being linked into grades and behavior reports.

Great product!

What do you like best about Sycamore School?

I like the in-app messaging services. It makes communicating with co-workers easy. Communication is such a huge part of education, using Sycamore makes communication very easy.

What do you dislike about Sycamore School?

Another portion of Sycamore that I like is the great customer support that they have. Through the program, there is a built in feature for direct messaging with the support staff at Sycamore.

Recommendations to others considering Sycamore School?

It is not compatible for schools with few students. I understand that it doesn't always benefit to service a small school, but it may help the small school grow if they were able to use Sycamore.
