SolidWorks CAM by CAMWorks is a software with one of the best user interfaces available. It's very easy to learn; even a non-experienced person can learn to use it quickly.

In my opinion, there is no downside for SolidWorks CAM. Just one limitation, it is difficult to use it for manufacturing intricate parts as effectively as other Catia or MasterCAM softwares.

I used SolidWorks CAM to teach students the basics of Computer Aided Manufacturing. It is the go-to software for any newbie, easy to learn, can collaborate with SolidWorks, ANSYS. The coding part is also easier compared to the other softwares used in the industries.

The 3D elements in the SolidWorks CAM. After drafting in different software, I would 3D say drawing in SolidWorks CAM easier and more comprehensive

I would rather say its rigidity over the panes.

Every manufacturing company needs and cam software to simulate the manufacturing process after CAD and simulation is done

So we have to use the same CAD model for CAM also. Its simplicity to integrate with solidworks is great.

It nearly has all the operations required and and also gives the G code which is useful to feed in CNC machine

When CAD model is imported into the solidworks cam the orientation can be a issue so before starting your operations in sure that the carrier model is oriented properly.

The automatic interference and collision detection feature is excellent. Software is very easy to use. I love the variable tool path speed for corners of the model.

Sometimes it crashes, especially if the geometry is complex. Also, I do not like the autocorrection of drawings after I manually enter all dimensions!

Unless you are going for the 30 days trial, it is expensive. But it is excellent software and worth the money.

3D printing of prototypes. I have created very detailed models with high accuracy.

Randering part is more attrective and we can also simulate even run a part.

The pricing of the software is so high normal user cannot effort

I recommand solid work specially for load calculation and wind load analysis

I have used it in my 2nd year of Engineering. Actually starting with this add-on will give you better compatibility with your design and manufacturing process. It is compatible with all the tools of SolidWorks CAD and gives a complete overview of manufacturing during the designing process. Again it provides higher machining facilities and it really works like a magic wand😀. It is a great tool for manufacturing companies and saves a lot of time .

Actually Solid CAM is not that cheap. You have to pay a handsome amount. But you can have a trial. This piece requires somehow high configuration of your computer and sometime crushes.

Recommended for manufacturing companies

I found it most handy for processing a design for manufacturing. The main goal of a product design is giving it a shape. This tool helped me to do exactly the same.

This software is super intuitive and extremely easy to use. First time users can easily learn how to draw.

Even though it is an easy to use software. Sometimes it’s too easy and sometimes auto corrects your drawings throwing off your overall design.

Solidworks allows for the design of parts or assembled sets quickly and efficiently, always adapting to the behavior of these parts with respect to the mechanical system in which they will be used. The beauty of the software lies in the stress simulations that can be performed on the designs, thus identifying the critical points of the designed parts and being able to predict their behavior accurately before manufacturing.

In all the time I have used the software, I have never had any problems. The versions each year cover any issues that the previous one might present and improve its use effectively.

To all those engineering students who wish to learn and expand their knowledge in mechanical design, this is the software for it. To the professionals who wish to perform simulations of parts or systems in the companies where they work, or projects they are undertaking, this is the software for it.

As an Engineer, I have designed parts in some of the companies I have worked for, and the software has allowed me to conduct professional analyses of these designs before they are manufactured, thus reducing any additional costs or inconveniences that may arise.

Sometimes it is slow when using old computers. But overall it is very powerful tool

This software helped me to win the best project award at my university. I designed and manufactured a cold chain box for carrying the vaccination using this software. Best features, options and many more things that this software can offer.

Truly speaking the only thing which I disliked about this software is the user interface. Apart from that, I liked everything else.

I only recommendation which I can give is that everyone should use this software as it is easy to use along with other feature.

This software can build anything. I mean everything. From an automobile part to heat sink systems. I designed various mechanical parts using this software.
