.Smoothwall is a very powerful product that has many powerful features, such as web filter/proxy, caching, guest access, VPN, Malware detection and much more, the product is very good at helping to protect users and prevent mis-use of internet access, groups and people can be matched to AD stucture or internal groups, features include firewall, IPS/IDS

The menu and web admin layout is complex and messy and can take time to find the stuff you are after, there can be delays when adding new firewall settings, approval / blocking of websites

Take the time to read the manuals and setup guides as the setup can be confusing but overall a very power product that can really help protect your network and web usage

Product does not support remote working for learners or tutors i.e it doesn not tracker and block websites remotely. Depending on the config we are using it either does not allow the end user to connect to a public wifi or it blocks the end user from being able to upload files to any website.

Support department are not responsive, and after 6 months of it not working we are getting ask to advise what problems do we have?

Don't believe the sales demonstration, require a live demonstration to your particular requirements before you consider purchasing. Unless you have a dedicated technical tam that can spend days devoted to learning this I would suggest selecting an alternative product
