We have been utilizing Signal Vine for more then 3 years now and it is a great tool in our student communications!
The only advice I would give a new instituion on the front in is to think about your progam set up structure carefully and would recoommend some pre-communication to students prior to first message to try to reduce initial opt outs.

I really enjoy utilizing the SignalVine Platform. I work in an office where we have to reach the entire student body to provide important information and with this product, it is easy to do so. We also are able to put different student selections into groups and reach out to them separately. It really helps our office in regards to communication methods. The students also like the ease of opting in and out just in case our campus overwhelms them with information.
With my personal use, I have not experienced an aspect of the platform that I disliked. My suggestion is to just keep the product updated and continue to add features.
SignalVine is assisting my office with an additional communication method. We currently use email, phone call and word of mouth. The text messaging feature is key to reaching certain demographics of our students.
SignalVine has been a flexible enough tool to be well utilitized with the different departments across our college campus, so it gets used very often within our org. Setup for some of the departments has been as easy as an API integration into Salesforce (which they did a great job at working with me to get the configurations dialed in), or in other cases we have a custom ETL process on that backend for each department that Signal Vine picks picks up and updates each program based off the final csv we send over. Great solution, intuitive design, customer support is timely and detail orientated.
No real dislikes. The only constructive feedback I can think of is that it would be nice to have the option to customize the list of questions that the Virtual Advisor has the ability to answer. There's already the option to customize the automated answers, which goes very far, but that would be the only area of improvement that comes to mind.
For our college, we use it both as a marketing tool for the Admissions team, but also as a way to communicate with students across the campus. Each department has their own number and the ability to send both refined group messages or individual one offs.
We use SV to text students 1:1 and in groups. We text in real time, we schedule texts for the future, and we use automated campaigns to ensure students and parents get quick responses while preserving the time and efficiency of our small, nimble team. All these features, as well as being able to text from a computer, have been game-changing in our work with students and the impact we're able to create. In addition, the SV Support team is unparalleled. It's included in the membership contract, and we cannot speak of them more highly.
The platform itself is wonderful. I wish I had the ability to set filters when exporting data, but otherwise, we love it.
- SV allows us to schedule texts to go out at a later date: our team can do the work when it makes sense for them AND students still receive the text when it works best for them.
- We have student and parent contacts in SV: this allows us to reach all of our families where they are - on their phones - instead of via email
- Automated campaigns: we can schedule texts and responses as well as save key student response data to our SIS. Students and parents receive timely responses, our team gets the data they need. SV helps us increase efficiency while still maintaining strong relationships with our students and families.
As academic advisors, we use Signalvine to send snippets of helpful information to our students. Students find text messaging familiar and engaging. For quick questions, SIgnalvines makes it so that student doesn't need to schedule a 30-minute appointment for something answerable in 1 minute over text. For more complicated questions, we can direct students to schedule an appointment by including the link in our Signalvine reply.
The software has artificial intelligence that automatically responds to frequently asked questions over text. You can customize the AI to your school and your students.
The app can be a little slow. There is a lagtime when flagging messages for follow-up or marking as completed. I find myself manually refreshing the screen a lot.
Signalvine assists with the issue of students not checking email as often as they should. It also allows us to communicate time-sensitive information efficiently. The AI component of Signalvine frees advisors up to attend to more complex issues that arise.
I love that it makes it so easy for our team to send and reply text messages.
The price has skyrocketed in the last year.
The price was way too high but thankfully they extended us a discount that will enable us to continue using the service for another year.
SignalVine has been a great tool we use to communicate with our high school seniors and recent graduates. We can get messages out to students quickly and efficiently. It also is a great way for the students to ask quick questions instead of scheduling a half hour meeting, freeing up our appointments for studnets with higher levels of need.
It would be nice to have a reply all function.

It allows for automation and customization. The AI functionality is quite impressive as it readily responds to asked questions. Connecting with others happens automatically.
It necessitates refreshing at times, which disrupts workflow. Enhancements in terms of speed and responsiveness is undoubtedly elevate the user experience

SignalVine has improved communication with our students. This has enhanced engagement levels. Optimized our overall communication flow.
Signal Vine not only allowed us to text students but allowed us to gather valuable data while doing so! We could meet our students where they were while also learning more about them.
There isn't much to dislike. Signal Vine has worked great for us! The only thing that is a bit time-consuming is manually uploading opt-in students to Salesforce as that connection isn't automatic, but all other connections are automatic and easy to set up.
We are reaching out to students about application status, upcoming events, and enrollment opportunities. We're meeting them where they are instead of only using email which they often don't check. We also use Signal Vine to allow students who are interested in NOVA to opt-in to our system. This allows them to ask questions via text before they even apply. In both cases we've seen that students are very receptive and appreciative of our texting feature.

Signal Vine is intuitive to use and connects with our data easily. In higher ed, we all know the inconsistencies with connecting with students over email. But, with texting, it makes getting a response from students easy. Whether you are trying to connect with a single student, all students, or segment them based on precise criteria, it really is simple to get your message out or create impactful intereactions.
There is not much to dislike. I think if there was one change, it would be helpful to have clear information about how the data/API connection works for non IT/technical people. That being said, support has always been quick to respond and help me to communciate my questions to our IT team.
When traditionally communicating with students we use face-to-face, email, student portals, and in-person collateral. However, there is nothing more prevelent to students than their phone. Being able to connect our messaging with them and offer them an easy way to reach out with questions has been a been very helpful to helping them achieve a productive student experience.
