What I like best about SharePlex is its reliability and efficiency in real-time data replication across different databases with minimal latency and downtime. It provides a highly stable, low-overhead replication process that ensures data consistency while maintaining source system performance. I also appreciate its flexibility to support multiple platforms and heterogeneous environments—for example, replicating between Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and others—which makes it valuable for migration, high availability, and reporting use cases. Additionally, its simple configuration, monitoring tools, and robust conflict resolution features make it easy to manage large-scale data movement with confidence and minimal maintenance effort

What I dislike about SharePlex is that while it’s extremely reliable for replication, the initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially when dealing with heterogeneous environments or large-scale deployments. Its user interface feels more technical and less intuitive compared to modern data integration tools, often requiring strong command-line knowledge. Additionally, advanced transformations and data integration features are limited, meaning you may need to use other tools for complex ETL or analytics workflows. Lastly, documentation and community support could be more comprehensive to help troubleshoot specialized scenarios more easily.

SharePlex solves the critical problem of real-time data replication and database availability by ensuring that data changes are continuously and reliably synchronized across environments without impacting source system performance. It helps minimize downtime during database migrations, upgrades, or platform changes, and supports disaster recovery by maintaining standby databases ready for failover. This has benefited me by enabling seamless data movement, faster access to replicated data for reporting or analytics, and improved business continuity. With SharePlex, I can ensure that systems remain highly available, data stays consistent, and operations continue smoothly even during maintenance or migration activities.

Data replication is a vital process and consume both time amd efforts. Shareplex simplify such processes and helps increasing productivity.

Shareplex is using for the replication of database which is one of the best problem solving process for the larger organisation and also helps to store data with top notch security.

For now i can't find anything with this software which really disappointed me but as we know shareplex is used to the transformation of data then may be something would be complex.

The product is solid, stable, and runs for several years without concern about it crashing or failing. It also is able to recover from any OS/DBA unexpected outages by reviewing the redo logs. It can automatically reconnect if any network issue occurs between source and target.

Originally there were memory leaks on the Solaris SPARC platform, but those have been fixed since version 8.6.1.

Replication to a second off-site DR location. This DR location also allows us to offload some queries onto a second database.

Technical support is excellent, the support team has an immediate response when question time comes around.

When we first started using it the change data process was actually stressing, sometimes the monitoring system sends out error notifications and it ends up spamming the admins with emails alert for no problem.

In my experience, Shareplex is fast, flexible, easy to install and configure, and easy to maintain. From my perspective, the conversion from Streams to Shareplex was amazingly simple and went very well. My feeling is that the overall experience has been very positive.

Streams Migration - I've worked with Streams for over 7 years and spent probably more time than I should have evaluating four different replacement products. With Shareplex, I found migration from Streams to be very simple. It was just plain easy.

Both support engineers (Berta Rae and Sarath kalari) are very knowledgeable. they can understand my issues right away and provide solution in an efficient way

shareplex oracle support is very good, never had bad experience with it. their support is always in time

system is a pre-prod environment. and has to deliver test result to production in a timely manner. all tests are halted because of shareplex issues. Since the issues are resolved efficiently, so no delay is caused in production.

The best SharePlex features we like are:

* Upgraded to Oracle 12c with zero downtime.

* Data compare and repair feature helps me fix data discrepancies without having to reinstall everything from the scratch.

* Option to create independent multiple Post queues for large transactional tables.

The software is easy to installed and configure. The documentation is well written. The Quest support is very helpful if you run into any problems. The software can be configured to meet a variety of needs.

In a testing environment if you are not running in archive log mode there is a possibility that your database logs can wrap causing SharePlex to shutdown. I can be a little complicated to get the system back up and running. This should not be an issue in a production environment.

If you can get some training before you start if makes if much easier.

We are replicating an entire schema but not the entire database from one database to another. In addition, we are also doing CDC (change data capture) on selected tables to feed an ETL job for daily batch processing.
