There is no such downsides of using this tool but more resources should be available to explore this product. Like for Oracle ODI we have N numbers of resources available to explore and design solution according to our need but we haven't find any such relevant document wehich can provide us that knowledge.

I'll recommend this product as it is more user friendly compared to other products and also this solution doesn't require vast knowledge of tool. It is user friendly and can be very helpful for beginners as well to learn something new.

Currently we are using multiple tools to design Data warehouse, to integrate multiple sources and to provide data marts to other stakeholders. through this tool we are able to design data warehouse, to integrate and develop an end to end solution having pl sql code, ETL and SQL through one module.

Connects to random sources, user.friendly, Easy transformation, use of mera data mgmt

Variables are cluncky, auto population, not easy to learn, less material for training

Ease of creating operational and historical data integrated and stored in dwh and data marts

Easy to use and can be learnt in a short period of time!

The only problem i encountered on my past experiences in using the tool is the scheduling.

Based on my past experiences, we encountered a very slow run of ETL jobs on a specific day in a week. Turns out there are issues with the database server. Nice experience.

it has been a while since i used it, but anyway you should at least give it a try...

I just love Mobile User Interface feature.

Rules can be easily set in graphical format

deployment was talking time during that time when i was using map deployment was critical task

Basic features like ETL, data cleaning and extraction tools are available

Not easy to learn, no online learning material available.

Most of the companies who adopt OWB is using oracle engine at the back. It comes with good support and licenses. It provides most of the feature as other industry tools are providing.

OWB is performance efficient especially when there is bulk data processing.

OWB mappings can't be reverse engineered from plsql code. OWB GUI is not very elastic hence there are scenarios when the MDL gets corrupted during developer interaction with owb mapping and thus it cannot be recreated back from plsql. You can argue to keep the OWB mappings in source control and pull it back when required. But trust me as i know certain projects which have not been able to maintain the source control and in absence of MDL they cannot even rely on the deployed plsql package in production. Result is they translate back from owb to hand written plsql.

Also Oracle only database makes the use case very limited.

We are already migrating from OWB to ODI as Owb shall be soon outvof support.
