The guaranty that a database server as Oracle and a powerfull hardware as Exadata are under the hood.

The cost can be thought as high but since you can adapt the resources to what you actually need at every moment, the price can be lower than other products where you cannot modify the resources.

Data security, systems always updated, high performance, scalable cost.

Ease of use and flexibility concerning scalability etc.

The pricing model from Oracle from time to time confusing

The elements that are most helpful to a traditional 'techie' is the automation of the platform and infrastructure, e.g. patching and upgrades now all sorted. It's biggest draw against its competitors is the performance of the underlying platform, making it pound for pound super competitive. Finally the lastest enhancements in terms of the UI for data ingesting, loading, charting and data gives it a complete SaaS feel.

Historically the issue was the lack of integration into existing OCI cloud services and networking constructs however this has been resolved. Ideally, more flexibility on the sizing of the autonomous DR would be a good improvement, i.e. pilot light capability.

The main benefit is the turnkey solution for enterprise data problems; building a data warehouse is more accessible to customers as is loading and visualising the data.

What's not to like about ADW? It doesn't require a DBA to provision or manage, It runs on the Oracle Exadata infrastructure, tunes itself, can scale OCPUs automatically, and comes with a wide variety of enterprise-level data management and analysis tools.

There isn't anything that I dislike, and I would only suggest that they continue to add more tools and functionality to the integrated toolset.

We had outgrown our on-premise solution. As a result, we were having performance issues due to hardware limitations. By moving our Data Warehouse to ADW we have solved the performance and sclability issues while also reducing the amount of effort and resources necessary to support the environment.

No DBA access and no operating system access

DW with minimum DBA intervention. Fastest database abailable right now from cloud vendors. Extremely easy to provision, use and maintain.

Autoscaling of Autonomous Database computing resources - completely automated, no user intervention required, and per-second billing. True capacity-on-demand, and very flexible.

The requirement to have a multi-tenancy license to use BYOL for ADB. Most customers do not own multi-tenancy licenses but hold EE licenses. Maybe create a new tier where up to 4 OCPU ADW does not require multi-tenancy.

Give serious consideration to ADW and ATP when migrating databases to the Public Cloud. If you are not doing BYOL, you will get many benefits from the autoscaling feature, where the scaling up and scaling down are automatic.

We use ADW for our departmental warehouse to consolidate reporting and to integrate various applications. The APEX dashboards and Oracle Analytics Warehouse reports add value to ADW. The integration with third-party non-Oracle applications is straightforward.

Not only a performant, fully-managed Data Warehouse/Lakehouse service, but one that does bring all the features of a mature converged RDBMS to the table. Competing services don't offer services like model-based data consistency for example.

A major advantage is that the service is available in the Oracle Cloud only. Many of our customers still try to carry out a single Cloud strategy since setting up Cloud environments is highly complex and expensive regarding required manpower, time spent, and network cost. Therefore customers dismiss ADW, not on the grounds of limited performance or missing features, but because of lacking multi-Cloud platform availability.

a) Should you have existing investments in the Oracle database, using ADW is a no-brainer. Secure your investment.

b) Don't dismiss ADW based on the on-premises cost of Oracle database. Use the Oracle cost estimator to realistically estimate the required investment. Very likely, you will be positively surprised.

The Cost of Oracle ADW could be confusing sometimes and this due to many varieties of options available to choose from, but that I don't like honestly, I like to be straight and forward in the cost.
