Really works for me

I have been using OC for 5 years, just upgraded to OC 4.0.2.3, which is still a bit fresh, but it is an awesome platform. I rent out Gites in France, and have all my bookings, including an interface to AirBnb, and it works a treat. You really need to at least know some PHP, etc to understand when things go wrong, but it is not that hard considering all the resources/expertise that exists online. There are loads to extensions to make the functionality richer, but I wrote my own extensions and could not be happier. There is a lot of functionality I do not use, like returns, affiliates, etc, but it is compartmentalised enough that it does not affect performance. The two areas it is a bit weak on are screen and email formatting, but there are extensions you can purchase for those (Journal, Email Pro).

What do you like best about OpenCart?Really easy to implement, configure and use. I am using v4.0.2.3 which is slightly fresh, but still find the new technology useful for creating new functionality.What do you dislike about OpenCart?The layout of screens and emails leave a bit to be desired, so I have used Journal for screens and Email pro for emails.What problems is OpenCart solving and how is that benefiting you?I rent Gites in France, and I do all of my rentals using opencart. I had to write the module for the calendar, and also for integrating to AirBnB, but the rest is pretty much out of the box.

What do you like best about OpenCart?OpenCart's flexibility in terms of extending through OCMods and the theme are foundational to its power, unlike competitors, its simple and straightforward MVC layout coupled with trivial theming making it a no-brainer for eCommerce stores of any complexity.What do you dislike about OpenCart?OpenCart does take a developer if you are looking to make more significant modifications to the code. I would also really appreciate a built-in database migration tool.What problems is OpenCart solving and how is that benefiting you?Codifying complex business logic, and retention of ownership of data are the two primary reasons I primarily use OpenCart on a day to day basis.
