Oh, Octopart, you’re a real time-saver, aren’t you? Instead of wasting hours scrolling through endless parts lists and chasing down datasheets, I just type in what I need and—voilà!—it’s all there in seconds. How impressive that you can pull up stock info and specs so quickly. It’s almost like you understand that my time is valuable and decided to make my life a little easier. Thanks for saving me from the tedious stuff and letting me focus on actually getting things done.

But seriously, it is an amazing tool, and every engineer worth their time and effort knows this is essential to a good design setup.

Octopart’s website can feel a bit clunky and outdated, making navigation less smooth than it could be. The interface sometimes adds unnecessary friction to finding components. Still, these minor annoyances are a small price to pay for the site’s overall usefulness in quickly locating parts and specs.

Octopart is easy to use and is a great starting point for PCBA Bill of Material checks.

The stock listed is not always accurate. This is not Octopart's fault but the individual distributors Octopart partners with.

That we can check the availability on all the websites . after checking we can click on the links and that takes us directly to the website from which you can procure

The User Interface can be better. Can make it more user friendly . also few of the websites are not updated on hourly basis . that can be changed . also they can update their data base to include more companies

I can see all the websites where the part is available and the stock . as a robotics company we order around 200-300 components for each robot .

Octopart is the best online tool to look for parts and inventory. It also allows us to choose the best price..

Octopart has been incredibly useful to me as an electrical engineer; it's been a great resource to understand what the supply chain status is of different components, and how I can easily obtain whatever parts I need at any time

There really isn't much that I dislike about Octopart; sometimes using the search/filtering options on the site is a little tricky, but typically I search for parts on Mouser or Digikey instead, so that's not a huge problem. I'm mostly using Octopart to check which suppliers have inventory of the parts that I'm looking for, not for the initial part search.

There should be an option to filter out vendors such as brokers

Inability to search only for Authorized Distributors.

Missing some smaller distributors, e.g. in Germany: Conrad, Bürklin, Reichelt, etc..

It integrates with all the PCB chip components distributors and shows up-to-date information of stock, price, and lead time. Instead of going to different websites, you can search in one place.

It would be nice if 3d models would verify somehow. Occasionally, they are not correct files.

It makes the search very easy for components—saving a lot of time and energy.
