When fraudulent orders started to ramp up on our e-commerce site 8 years ago we turned to MaxMind minFraud to help us detect them before they were despatched. Since implementing the service we've all but eliminated fraudulent orders because they are caught and placed on hold before we get the chance to despatch them.

It's a straightforward service that works so there is nothing that comes to mind to dislike.

Maxmind minFraud is super easy to use once integrated into your systems. We use the Insights level query credits and the detailed scores it returns have helped us stay fraud free for many years. The most useful results it returns are fraud score, email first seen date, country of credit cards.

There is no downside risk as the price is minimal

MaxMind minFraud solves fraud for our ecommerce store. For high fraud scores we manually review the order and implement secondary fraud checks direct with the customer.

the documentation for integrating minfraud into our product was clear and easy to follow, and we were able to integrate it with minimal changes to the rest of our stack. and the results seem reasonably accurate

it feels a bit pricey when i'm only using a small fraction fo the feature set.

MinFraud lets us assess payment risk up front, before sending transactions off to upstream payment providers, so we can maintain our reputation with them.

The availability is a great value because we use it a LOT

Is not card present oriented, the product is just for e-commerce and non-present cards.

Also we can not set dynamic rules checking the value and taking the decision depending of the value of a data

It help us to prevent possible fraud, also the IP address information help us the have a double fraud check, for example: First attempt to fraud sometoimes minfrand doesn't catch it so we have a double check to see the credit card information and make sure the transaction doesn't comes from a red flag fraud country. Also we block transactions when it comes from proxys (information that minfraud returns us from IP information)

Being able to use Minfraud's built in functionality in addtion to custom rules to decimate the amount of fraud reaching our payment processor.

When entering addresses to ban/ reject all transactions on custom rules, I have to enter them twice, once for billing address and once for shipping address. Would want to just fully ban the address for both.

When we opened our site to the public such that anyone could purchase we saw a massive spike in chargebacks. Once we upgraded to minfraud we've got that ammount way down to less than 10% of what it was.

Easy to use with library avaiable in Python

In terms of how it performs, we saw some latency from time to time. But can't really pinpoint as to when it happened.

Simplicity. It's easy to use, implement, and integrate into your systems. I think I had this going in a matter of minutes. It's helped prevent numerous fraudulent transactions.

I do get a quite a few false positives. Really have to do some digging when something pings as potential fraud.

It's weeding out the potienal fraudulent transactions and keeping our chargebacks down.

MaxMind minFraud assists us in the initial screening of all credit card transactions. The risk assessment is usually accurate and we follow its advice.

There is nothing I particularly dislike about this product. I hope that with the new AI tools it will be able to fine-tune its analysis even further.

I would prefer a onpromise option, but MaxMind only seems to offer this for larger companies.
