The dashboard is laid out great. It is easy to use and see.
Breaking kids into individual schools is challenging without a third party SIS.
We use filtering and it has made things a lot easier. We can block students from accessing things the teachers wouldn't want to be blocked from.
Relay is a unified dashboard that allows me to monitor and filter all of our Chrome devices in one place. No more going to 5 different places for filtering, controlling videos, looking where students have been on the internet, etc.
While it's not really a downside, with everything in one place, there is a lot to learn. The tutorials help but the level of granulation available for the various settings means you have to get your hands dirty for a while before you can take full advantage of all the features.

Most importantly, we can see concerns about students without needing to know that we need to go in and look. We have been able to get students help for emotional issues and potential self harm issues because the alerts let us know of potential problems.
I love how easy the product is to use. I don't have an extensive background in computers, and I was able to read the product directions and roll this product out on our school devices with ease. Relay and Mobile Manager have given us peace of mind and allowed us to have eyes on our student's internet activity. The ability to block specific sites and phrases on student devices has made all the difference in cutting back on internet-related discipline issues.
I have no significant issues with Lightspeed. I have run into problems when I have updated the OS on student Macbooks, and Lightspeed has not adjusted their product specs to match the OS update. However this is usually resolved quickly.
It is an excellent product for schools of all sizes and has been especially good for our small school. It has allowed us to stay connected to our student devices, contain security threats, and give insight into our student's state of mind. It is a great tool.

I love the streamline flow of light speed and the amount of granularity that can be achieved.
There is a lot of work on the front end for setting up and pushing out the system.

It has worked quite well as a filter/ monitoring system
The ease of use for IT Admin and Teachers, ability to manage Youtube, and confidence of being able to leave it and forget for the most part and know it's doing its job. On the teacher's side of the coin, the rich features that are available in the classroom side such as view student screens, closing tabs, and sending comments to students through the interface were very useful especially during the time of COVID. Not only could the teachers monitor that their students were on task at home but they were able to assist them with any problems they ran into from a distance.
There is nothing I can think of besides extra features, the product has a lot of features already and Lightspeed is always working on more. But more features are always nice.
I would recommend Relay to anybody that is looking for a solid solution to push out to their schools to protect students and support teachers.
We are able to solve student filtering issues with ease as well as student safety. I have used or demo'd many other filters like GoGuardian and Securly but neither one of these comes close to what Relay offers and delivers on. With GoGuardian and Securly the Youtube filter was not as robust as Relays, most schools feel as though it is impossible to filter and manage Youtube without blocking the site outright. With Relay this is not an issue and we are able to allow the rich and educational content of Youtube for students to discover without having a 3rd party product allow these videos.
User friendly staff. Easy to use interface.
The cost is a bit much, but I'm sure that prices will even out once the pandemic is over.
User accessibility has always been an issue. I feel more confident that their new features will solve issues.
The most helpful is having the students with school devices or their own devices filtered at home. We are able to provide valuable information to their parents and helps the students keep engaged in their education knowing they are filtered.
Not being able to run reports past 30 days. Some parents would like to see their student's progression in the use of websites to see if they kept away from certain area.
I have been using Lightspeed Systems since 2007 while at a school in Tennessee. I immediately recommended and installed the system here in Virginia back in 2013. We love it and no other system has come close to beating what LS has available and the ease of using it!
We currently had a new employee, our new nurse, plug in her iPhone into her school's desktop computer. Within minutes she was locked out. Upon researching the issue, it was due to her having a TikTok app on her phone, which was filtered via Relay. She was locked out but the system allowed her back in within the time we had set.
This confirmed that the settings work even when the staff/students use their other tech devices on our wifi.
The simplicity of the interface is remarkable as well as the management and integration with the relay classroom is awesome

When I have an issue the tech persons are polite and are very willing to help. They will email me to see if the problem has been solved and if not they continue to work on a solution.
The initial phone call where the person answering really doesn't know how to help me yet they are very willing to put in a ticket and have someone return my call.
I would recommend Relay because of the ease of use and great consumer service.
At the moment I am, with the help of Mitch, trying to solve the issue with my groups. They are not properly syncing from my AD groups to relay. I believe we will be able to fix this issue next week.
