UKG Ready is an easy-to-use HRIS solution that allows users to navigate easily through its menu-driven screens to accomplish time/labor management, benefits and reporting functions.
The setup process was comprehensive and a few things were missed that had to be corrected later once the UKG Ready system was live.
The clock-in/out process is very user friendly, and payroll has been streamlined considerably. Our staff spends less time verifying payroll is correct each pay period, allowing them to focus on other HR priorities.
Everything being in one place is the #1 thing I like about UKG ready. We are about a week out from Go Live in UKG and the entire process has been nothing short of a great experience. In our previous HRIS Software system, you had to navigate away to different functions, and having a business with multiple divisions made it even more complicated. In UKG, all of our divisions are easily navigatable, the system can be set up exactly how you want it, and the customer service is 100% top notch.
I haven't found really anything that I "dislike" about UKG Ready. The only possible thing that I could come up with if I had to, would be some of the instructor lead trainings. The instructor lead trainings are phenomenal; however, if your company is not set up the way it is in the training, it isn't as valuable as it could be.
UKG Ready is helping our company with cost savings, better reporting and analytics, and everything being in one spot instead of having to navigate to different pages, etc.
We are in the testing phase doing parrell payrolls and the experience has been excellent. The entire transition process from vetting to this point has been the best we could have hoped for. While there were little things that weren't as expected, nothing has been anything that has made us think twice about the move. The service has been excellent and the teams are so helpful. We are a very small team on our end working on the transition and the UKG team has made it as easy as possible and they are very clear with what is needed, so there is no mixed communication. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a new payroll/HR/Benefits platform.
On the Admin side, there are a few more steps to get some of the same things done in our legacy system then we are used to, but all the positives HEAVILY outweigh any negative from UKG Ready. We haven't had any issues that weren't small and fixable or had a work around. We look forward to a long relationship with UKG Ready!
Our #1 concern for the Admin with our legacy system was lack of customer service/suport. Our #1 concern for the employee's was the time clock NEVER working correctly and not recogninzing punches, which then made it an Admin issue with making corrections.
Pulling reports is much easier and more inclusive of the information we need.
We are getting so much more on the UKG Ready platform for less cost then we were with our legacy payroll company.
UKG Ready is an incredibly powerful program that is instinctively user friendly. There are multiple workflows that enhance user experience and ease to control their own schedules. The more we integrate UKG ready into our company, we are pleased with the offerings that we could merge into one program.
As a scheduler, I would like to have the ability to have shifts swapped by users to he highlighted so they are easy to see on the schedule. This would save manhours comparing the UKG schedule to our master schedule in Excel. Also, I think it would be a great feature when there is an emergency need for coverage, we could flag those shifts and blast them to the entire agency that have matching credentials. This would save also streamline this process saving time from calling down phone trees to find last minute coverage.
Ease of scheduling
I like UKG Ready because of the user friendly interface. Various settings are usually easy enough for me to setup on my own, various items are easy to find, and each product (i.e. recruiting, performance reviews, etc.) are easy to figure out and use. I don't feel like I am going through hoops to complete something within their system.
UKG support is wonderful, although I wish it were easier to find userguides, if there are any. I hate opening a case any time I am stuck, which most of the time it is a simple question that needed to be answered but the solution was impossible to find on the support site. Other than that, their support teams are fabulous.
They are a one-stop-shop for my organization. Full employee life cycle, from recruiting to onboarding, then performance managing and benefit enrollments. All of our HR functions are connected through UKG.
UKG Ready is secure, robust, and user-friendly. The platform has become a one-stop shop for our employees to manage their timesheets, PTO, paystubs, as well as find important company communications. Customer support is easy to access and provides timely answers.
Adapting to the multi-factor authentication was a challenge for some of our less tech savvy staff, however, with some tutorials, they are using the platform with ease now.
UKG has allowed us to digitize and streamline much of our onboarding process, making Day 1 for new employees much smoother. Furthermore, emplyoees and easily access their paystubs and request PTO with minimal effort.
Moved to UKG Ready from ADP. I had worked with Kronos in the past and was excited to explore the rest of the offerings. The sales process was inpressive, the staff was through, took notes of our pain points and showed us the resolution. They were fun and easy to work with... I was impressed but cautiously optimistic when these happy helpful people moved us to onboarding. I personally was responsible for the Payroll, Timekeeping and HR tasks. The implementation consultants were beyond helpful and supportive. I had a lot of the heavy lifting for my orgnaization, they made me feel supported, kept the process organized, and encouraged me every week. We had one hiccup that we brought to our PM and she accepted, and got to work correcting. This system is smart and intuitive. The reports are easy and beautiful. It makes sense and once you learn where things are and what it can do, it is easy to figure out. I use the product all day, my staff love it. I wish I had moved last year.
There are a couple little things I wish I could adjust. Removing fields we don't utlize as a company. Some are able to be configured, others aren't. It's not a big deal, but I am a little extra and like to get in the weeds.
Payroll with ADP used to take AT LEAST 4-5 hours and we would have to call for help almost every cycle, which was excessive and not always helpful. My payroll now takes 1-2 hours and I am still new to the process. Reports are fantastic easy to customize and I love how I can share them with my managers after I build them.
I love how much more customization UKG Ready allows compared to a lot of other systems. A lot of areas/aspects of the system are built from the ground up (with system parameters, of course) based on the processes and procedures as well of needs of your organization. I also want to point out how amazing the reporting is within UKG Ready. Not only is it equally as customizable, but it's also user friendly. Compared to a lot of other systems, the reporting in UKG Ready has been near seamless. You can build just about any type of report that you need to build (if it isn't already built in the system). I also love how detailed you can get in terms of assigning user access to different parts of the system.
The areas of UKG Ready that I'm not as impressed with include the Leave Module, Surveys, Performance Reviews and Learning Modules (we have yet to implement Compensation so I cannot speak to that).
Surveys: I do not feel that this is as customizable as it could be; definitely not as I'd like to have it. Another aspect of Surveys that is frustrating is that I do not feel that we can successfully use it for Exit Surveys or Onboarding Surveys because of certain limitations. So for an Exit Survey, we'd like to be able to have a live survey that we can assign out upon separation and then pull the data from each either monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. The system limits you from assigning the survey to individuals as they separate. For example... say Employee A provides a two weeks notice (Jan 1 they resign, effective Jan 14) - so ideally, our process on this would be to push out the Exit Survey to the individual on their notice date (Jan 1) and allow them at a minimum, the full notice period to complete. Let's say within that notice period Employee B resigns with a 3-day notice period (Jan 5, effective Jan 8). Because the Exit Survey is already 'assigned' to Employee A during those dates, we are not allowed to assign the same Exit Survey to Employee B until after January 14th (when Employee A's survey period closes). This would then force us to create a new or duplicate Exit Survey for Employee B to complete - which in turn would prevent us from pulling the Exit Survey response data as a whole.
Leave Module: I am not as impressed with the Leave Module either. The system as a whole doesn't really allow for 'if/then' customizations which I have noticed to be a major limitation, especially within the Leave Module. And while the workflows are great for most of the modules and features within the system, I do not find them to be as helpful within the Leave Module. For example an Employee that's applied for FMLA, will have to go in and find their appropriate forms as opposed to us being able to push those forms out to them. The system also requires you to either re-assign your employees into different Profiles (timesheet, leave, accruals, pay, etc) if they are going on Leave - I feel that if the system could be set up with 'if/then' features, this may be elimintated.
Learning Module: Unfortunately I'm not as impressed with the Learning Module. I was under the impression that, as with the other modules, the Learning would also be housed within the UKG system. This is incorrect (at least as far as the Library that we selected - Schoox). We purchased content from Schoox and instead of that content/courses being uploaded into our UKG, in order to access Learning, we get re-routed to the Schoox site. This to me is frustrating because you have to rely on the systems communicating with each other for more than just course content and updates. I'm not fond of the fact that the employees (and Admins) are redirected outside of UKG to have to access Learning. This also impacts administration and mangement of Learning because user access, course assignments, etc - none of that can truly be managed within UKG.
Time Management/Time Keeping - overall the system has allowed us to stay in compliance with factors such as paid breaks and overtime. Our previous system did not properly calculate either of those which left room for legal implications not to mention created a lot of manual work when running payroll. The system also allows for detailed reporting on things such as missed punches, absences, tardies, etc.
Reporting - the reporting is 100 times better than our previous system. The fact that we can easily find reports and easily customize them as we need/see fit is a huge benefit to us. As we move into the New Year, I'm really looking forward to the reporting feature when I go to pull reports for our Affirmative Action. With out last system, I had to pull multiple reports (and I mean multiple) and manually combine them into the necessary reports for submittal. This was a huge time suck and inconvenience.
We're still fairly new to the system so I cannot speak towards how some of the modules have benefited us so far, however we're expecting to see benefit in the Recruiting Module as well. I am looking forward to the fact that the system and processes of Recruiting were built based on our Company's needs so this did not 'break' any of the automation features. Our previous system allowed for only one default recruiting process (regardless of what your Organization's recruiting process was). The old system allowed for customization, yes, but if you did not use the default recruiting process, you lost all automation features.
Getting us out of manual processes, and providing a lot of great analytics for our CEO. Reducing the amount of paper floating around and is simplifying the process of getting documents through multiple approvals without things getting lost in the abyss that is email. AMAZING SUPPORT! So helpful, quick to respond, and dedicated to answering questions, solving problems, and teaching! We are about 5 months into implementation and are really happy with our decision!
Some of our less tech-savvy employees struggle with the fact they need a more complicated password and have to periodically use a 2nd factor authentication, but even they are getting better at it and understand the extra security is a good thing.
They listen to suggestions about how to keep improving the software and our implementation specialists are coming up with creative ways to create forms, workflows, and abilities within the software to help us follow our established procedures in ways that are meaningful to our organization. The amount of time we spend just moving through things like our hiring process, payroll, and benefits enrollment are reduced, simplified, and more accurate because the automation reduces the human error.

I like the functionality of UKG. As I spend more and more time in the system I come across more things that can be accessed and done.
I also like the support team. They do a really great job of answering questions and walking you through how to resolve issues.
This is not a huge deal, but I wish the timesheets could be prepoulated further out, in advance.
I believe that thetimesheets are only populated a pay period in advance.
So if we are in the month of October and an employee wants to verify the company holidays for December, the timesheets will not show the days that we have off for the Christmas holiday.
It solves our issue of having a system that can properly track time and attence and PTO.
