These tools provide true support for solving complex decision problems, rhe academical initiative is one of best I tried with similar products. In particular the IBM Cplex optimization studio best in his classfor building aolutions for prescriptive analytics employing mathematical modelling.

The ibm id personal site is sifficult to deal with. And the support IBM offers is not good. For example I wanted to update a copy of IBM CPLEX optimization studio since almost a year, but there seems to be a synchronization problem with my account and until today I failed to solve this problem Issues like this should be solved fast, for example by offering an option for resetting the account.

I solve complex combinatory and integer programmung problems for my research, for teaching pH.d students in advanced optimization class and for helping my graduate students to implement prescriptive analytic models and solutions in their P.h.D.

It has the flexibility to cover what I need.

The first bit of getting used to the environment was tricky for me.

The exact cover solver type problems was the main theme.

We performed detailed and extensive PoC studies with different companies during our vendor selection process. Cplex was the only solver to be able to solve our detailed scheduling problem and IBM was much more professional. In addition to Cplex’s power, we also very much appreciated the support and expertise of IBM l through the implementation of our project.

More help on analyzing infeasible problems and tuning would be nice.

I strongly suggest others to test & analyze solvers as well as vendors thru PoCs even though that process takes considerable amount of time. And never forget about the future technical support.

We solve different supply chain planning and scheduling problems including s&op and some specific blending problems. We are able to run many what-if scenarios automatically and ensure that we get a much better solution than manual rule-based approaches.

The ease with which I am able to integrate to Matlab and setup my problem formulation. The instructions are clear and the example/sample codes are very helpful. I am impressed with its performance to solve a very large-scale problem with thousands of variables within few minutes.

Nothing specific about the Cplex studio. I haven't explored other capabilities of IBM Decision Optimization, so cannot comment.
