Uptime and stability are excellent; it’s the OS you set and forget. LVM + Serviceguard make storage and failover predictable. Admin tooling (SMH/SAM, swinstall, kctune) keeps patching and tuning controlled. Security (RBAC, Trusted System) is straightforward to lock down. Rock‑solid UNIX for mission‑critical workloads. Not flashy however, just dependable.

Hardware ties (PA‑RISC/Integrity) and licensing costs limit flexibility. Modern tooling/ecosystem is thin, containers and cloud‑native workflows aren’t first‑class.

Fewer community packages; upgrades require careful planning.

The interface is clunky, and it’s stuck on outdated hardware like Itanium servers, which makes upgrades a pain. Plus, it’s not the easiest thing for new people to pick up.

HPUX is very stable OS. Service gaurd is easy to manage and work .patching ,file system extension. Data protector installation. Cluster failover .ignite backup usage. System monitoring is petty easy.

I felt little difficult in using keyboards .especially when we using in console .

I have worked with HPUX clients .telecom and pharmaceutical. Clients. Their database and some.cirtical applications running on HPUx .they still want use HPUX as.

It is a very stable system, it's a pity that they no longer continued it for new equipment. Its administration is a safe environment and easy to manage, with security in everything.

The downside of being in a business environment was that the licensing costs were very high, and several companies gave up on its implementation. HP did not continue with further updates.

The procedure for using OS on HP UX were simple to setup and understand. The OS administrators found it quite simple to manage hardware setup in their business.

It is pure server OS with lot of flexibility on memory, high availability and secure management. Ease of use and best in business

It is not suggested to run critical database like oracle 10g

I believe the cost for the benefits that this flavor of unix provides is a bit on the higher side.

All the Linux and Unix commands are working and have many shortcuts are present in UX.

It only runs on the HP hardware; we cannot test and work with UX on our home computer. It's very difficult to work on an operating system by just only reading the books and online tutorial for showing the sections in only very compact way.
