New users may need some time to fully understand the platform’s advanced querying and observability features. In some cases, managing large volumes of telemetry data can also become costly. Still, the benefits—faster troubleshooting and deeper system insights—make it worthwhile overall.What problems is Honeycomb solving and how is that benefiting you?Honeycomb is helping us tackle the challenge of quickly identifying and diagnosing issues in complex applications and distributed systems. Instead of spending hours correlating logs and metrics from multiple sources, we can use Honeycomb to pinpoint root causes faster and gain deeper visibility into overall system performance. This has significantly reduced troubleshooting time, improved incident response, and helped us maintain a more reliable experience for our users. The detailed insights also enable us to proactively spot performance bottlenecks and make data-driven decisions that improve overall system health and operational efficiency.

What do you like best about Honeycomb?What stands out most is how fast and flexible querying is, even against high cardinality data we can slice and dice by any field (user ID, request ID, custom attributes) without needing to predefine dashboards or metrics ahead of time. This has made debugging production issues dramatically faster, since we can trace a single problematic request end-to-end instead of guessing from aggregated metrics. The BubbleUp feature is especially useful for quickly surfacing what's different about a slow or failing subset of requests compared to the rest of traffic. It's also made our on-call experience much less stressful, since we can investigate incidents in real time with actual context instead of jumping between multiple tools.What do you dislike about Honeycomb?The learning curve can be steep for teams new to observability-driven debugging, since it requires a shift in mindset from traditional dashboards and predefined metrics toward ad-hoc, high-cardinality querying. Instrumenting our codebase properly to get rich, structured events took real upfront effort, and getting the most value out of the platform depends heavily on how well events are tagged and enriched at the source. Pricing can also become a consideration as event volume grows, particularly for larger or high-traffic services. Additionally, some newer team members find the query interface less intuitive at first compared to more traditional metrics dashboards, so onboarding takes a bit of ramp-up time.What problems is Honeycomb solving and how is that benefiting you?Before adopting Honeycomb, our team struggled to debug production incidents quickly because our monitoring stack relied on pre-aggregated metrics and dashboards that couldn't answer unexpected questions in the moment. When something went wrong, we often had to guess which dimension to investigate, then wait on new dashboards or logs to confirm it which slowed down incident response significantly. Honeycomb solved this by letting us query raw, high-cardinality event data on the fly, so we can trace individual requests end-to-end, and pinpoint exactly which users, endpoints, or conditions are affected without needing to predict the question in advance. This has measurably reduced our mean time to resolution during incidents, since engineers can go from "something's wrong" to "here's the exact root cause" in minutes instead of hours. It's also made on call much less stressful, since the tooling supports real investigation rather than just alerting.

What do you like best about Honeycomb?I like Honeycomb's ease of use. It ties up different open telemetry and other tooling, making integration easier. They have integrations with other technologies, such as Enbridge for user or synthetic monitoring, which makes it easily expandable, especially with OpenTelemetry being universal. It's easy to port data in and out of Honeycomb.What do you dislike about Honeycomb?I would target first about pricing. Having a more friendlier pricing and, especially that OpenTelemetry is basically open source or free. So there should be some wiggle room or adaptability that we could leverage from Honeycomb and using other enterprise-grade monitoring kits.What problems is Honeycomb solving and how is that benefiting you?Honeycomb helps us understand telemetry data for better observability and alerting, unblocking our customers and partners. What do you like best about Honeycomb?I find the Bubble Up feature in Honeycomb super cool, and their visualization and workflow are fantastic. They allow our engineers to rapidly diagnose production issues, driving down MTTR. The initial setup was very easy, and it took just a day to build a proof of concept.What do you dislike about Honeycomb?It could always be cheaperWhat problems is Honeycomb solving and how is that benefiting you?I use Honeycomb to observe high throughput low latency systems and it helps our engineers rapidly diagnose production issues, reducing MTTR.

This has helped improve our metrics across all areas of observability.

What do you like best about Honeycomb?Trace data drill-down and analysis are straightforward, and the dashboards are clear and useful. Alerting is also included, which helps me stay on top of issues.What do you dislike about Honeycomb?The RBAC doesn’t feel sufficiently mature yet. What do you like best about Honeycomb?Full OpenTelemetry support and powerful trace-to-metrics correlation is best done by Honeycomb. I am eager to explore Canvas and based on the o11yconf session I can definitely see it to bring a lot of value.What do you dislike about Honeycomb?The learning curve can be real steep, but this is where I see Canvas may offer some relief.What problems is Honeycomb solving and how is that benefiting you?Honeycomb addresses a common incident-response pain point: engineers losing time bouncing between disconnected monitoring tools. By bringing traces, logs, and metrics together in one place, teams can move from “something’s broken” to “here’s exactly why” in minutes rather than hours. For me, as a Sr. TAM working with many enterprise & strategic customers, that means I can confidently recommend a single observability platform that grows with their complexity, helps reduce mean time to resolution, and avoids the kind of vendor lock-in headaches I’d otherwise have to untangle later.
