It is very used friendly and easy to use to view a client's financial account (i.e. deposits, bills, disbursements, transfers to capital accounts etc.)

The search function can be frustrating as sometimes I will click to enter a client number and instead of letting me input the number it pulls up the list of every client and I have to scroll through to find the person which takes longer.

Making it easy to access account information for lawyers when submitting the bills to the accountants.

Managing cases and client contact

Esilaw does a great job of generating accounts for general and specific legal matters, as well as being a great client management technology. It is quite easy to see all of the relevant aspects of a client and their matters, simply with a few clicks.

Over all the tech is quite easy to use, but it also comes with a higher price. Secondly, there are times when generating bills can have some issues, but for the most part things go well.

In using Esilaw, I have come to realize how important it is to keep other programs talking to one another. Esilaw is the best place to be a core program where we keep all of our client information and billing info, and then use that as a springboard to create other client subfolders for various matters etc.

Can see everything for a client in one place and can make edits there, too without searching 3 other places and changing several filters and waiting for the data to load. Finding things is fairly intuitive because the headings make sense. The autofills for repeat functions help with repetitive assistant tasks. Printing the same reports for multiple banks is easy. You can print client reminders, within ranges, so you don't have to print all or none ie can print all that are more than 30 days overdue and there are multiple sorts that make for easier distribution. Could select a list of bills to pay and process cheques all at once, instead of one at a time.

Contacts is a bit cumbersome to use - now that we've used an easier one, I see the benefits of an easy to use contact list. The pre-bill system sometimes caused confusion, yet should have helped and did for draft bills. I understood from the lawyers that the time keeping function wasn't as useful as it should have been. And it seemed harder for the lawyers to look up the kinds of reports they wanted themselves. And it was harder to share information with the accountant.

Depends who you are getting the software for, that is who will use it - the assistants will appreciate Esilaw more than Cosmolex. The lawyers probably would prefer Cosmolex.

Streamlined processes for the assistants, especially in the accounting/bookkeeping areas. All the individual tasks took less time in Esilaw. And could often be done "in bulk" rather than one at a time.

The software is very easy to learn and use. The software also has alot of uses.

The software is glitchy and tends to crash.

Would recommend. It has some glitches but the support from the Esilaw team always foxes any issues.

I like the outline of the reports, especially the client ledgers. The reports are accessible to understand and read.

I like the efficiency of closing files. You can keep adding close files to your list, and then you have the option of printing it all at the end.

It's not user-friendly. It's very confusing. It's really hard to reverse or correct mistakes. They don't value longtime customers. We dislike them so much us and other law firms around us switched to a totally different program.

Problem-solving is so hard. You have to think hard about how to fix a problem. When you call in... their staff is not friendly. I hate that there is no live chat and I hate calling in.

On-Prem Installation is good to have and pretty solid and constant in making backup

They don't give you your date if you plan to switch to another software.
