The platform is very intuitive for students, teachers and administrators.
The courses can't be adapted for individual students who enroll late. For example if a student is enrolled in a course you can't excuse assignments if they enroll after the beginning of the semester.
Find out who your state representative is for the company and ask for aggressive pricing options. They can work with you to formulate a budget friendly option.
We are using the courseware to do virtual instruction for our Alternative School Students throughout the year and also using it for courses for virtual students at home during Covid-19.
Edgenuity is a simple platform for both students and teachers to understand. The administrative backend of the product has excellent report capabilities allowing teachers, administrators and students to understand their progress and achievement within the course. The platform has multiple assessment types, including essays and multiple choice. The platform can also auto-grade essay questions through an artificial intelligence engine. The platform can be set up to be interoperable with a school district's single sign-on solution, student information system or another platform that allows student accounts to be automatically set up. If a community did not wish to do this, they also had the option of manually enrolling students.
The courses are contained within a proprietary platform, and you cannot export the course material into another learning management system that you may be more familiar with. While the reporting is good, it can't be linked with other success factors like attendance, discipline, etc. Initial set-up can be tricky and does require some training. I would not say that it is intuitive, but an individual can pick up on the set-up with help from the company. Edgenuity uses different metrics to determine success which can be confusing for a teacher or administrator looking at a scale of red, orange and green. Some of these metrics are time spent in the product, grades and whether the student is on pace or not.
Our school district has been able to deliver online courses to students who may be required to complete coursework in an at-home learning situation. We also have allowed students to recover failed credits using the credit recovery courses that Edgenuity offers within their platform. Sometimes we have students too young to attend our high school alternative school, and we serve them through Edgenuity in an at-home learning environment with teacher supervision.
We use Edgenuity at my school to help students to stay on target to graduate. The courses can be customized, adjusting to the particular student's needs. It is also beneficial to give classes that we do not administer in person - this way; our students can learn the content independently.
We like the feature where we can enter parents' information - this way, they can track their own child's progress. However, our students do not like this feature :-)
We program our students for credit recovery of classes they failed. We also use it for fulfilling Spanish requirements for graduation since we no longer have an in-person teacher for Spanish.
I enjoy using this for tutoring students in social studies because it can guide them through lessons tailored to them. This allows review for what students may have missed or struggled with.
The platform is difficult to use from the teacher's side. It works properly, but it is difficult to know how to use it. It makes it difficult to track progress because you have to keep refreshing the page.
This program helps me solve issues with students that fall behind. It is great to help students catch up and get them back on track with their peers in the content area.
As an instructional coach for a virtual school, Edgenuity makes it easier for me to get students and teachers where they need to be, and doing what they need to be doing. Edgenuity makes it easy for me as a "domain administrator" to create courses and enrollments. Then, using the platform's Reports feature, I can find out where my students are at a glance, or by doing a deep dive into their progress. Edgenuity allows me to check student progress across multiple metrics: I can see how a student is doing based on what they've completed, or based on time elapsed in a course, or as a mix of both metrics.
My only critique of Edgenuity is in regard to its grading and feedback engine, especially for English/Language Arts Teachers, or anyone who needs to give feedback on student writing. The process for getting to student work is laborious (requiring multiple clicks to get to the actual student submission), and a significant number of these clicks must be repeated superfluously if you are grading multiple students' submissions in a single sitting. As for grading student writing, Edgenuity's feedback engine doesn't allow me to comment on specific aspects of a written submission; instead, it gives a general comments box at the end. I'd like to see this updated to allow for comments, highlights, etc.
Edgenuity has been instrumental in our virtual school program's success. It gets high marks from our teachers, both for ease of use, and for alignment to our standards. It is also great from an administrative perspective, as we can find the data we need quickly to gauge student progress.
Edgenuity allows for a multitude of options, from a full online course needed to just specific skills, so it gives flexibility in how you can use it. We are able to do Blended Learning courses, where students complete part of the work online through this platform and the other in class with our materials. We can use this to assign skills that were missed (from students being absent) or for skills that need more work (they haven't shown mastery of them yet).
Sometimes when I review the assignments/assessments they seem much easier than our course material for that grade level.
I can use the Blended Learning option to assign missed skills to individual students. That way they have lessons to review and guide them, as opposed to simply trying to complete an assignment to show that skill.
This program is super easy to navigate and even if not familiar you can get used to it really quick. Lots of control and monitoring applications in program. I work with middle and high school students so the monitoring tools come in super handy. Students find this system easy to navigate and easy to understand. There are clear and concise monitoring tools for students! They know exactly what their grade is as well as what percent complete.
While using this program there have been some glitches for students when they are working. They may not be allowed to move on to the next lesson so some students can become irritated. Simple remedy to back and log back in but it can be frustrating. In terms of teacher use, the system is super easy compared to other programs I have used.
Some minor glitches in students being able to move on, the program becomes "stuck". Super easy to use for teachers and students.
Edgenuity Courseware prides itself on providing flexible courses and curricula that meet student needs. This gives students expanding learning opportunities while also supporting teachers.
I'm still unsure how user friendly Edgenuity Courseware is. I haven't checked too much into its features, but my biggest wonder is how available courses are offline.
Edgenuity Courseware is an evolving company, expanding its resources as it grows in momentum. This offers several of topics to the youth of a generation, from elementary school to high school.
Nothing. This platform makes you waste a lot of time.
This platform asks me as a teacher to unlock to materials that are outdated and outright obsolete. The platform does not present grammar pretty well either, they show what is right and what it wrong but do not "explain" it to meet the needs of the learners who need interactivity and actual instruction with engagement. When presenting Grammar Edgenuity falls behind behind it does not have an explainer video about it. The platform also has ludicrous activities that have nothing to do with instruction such as in World Language Spanish the Queen's ball activities, or the formulate grammar rule based on essays' long texts explainers, or the Culture Gram activities. This platform is outdated and it glitches at times. I also do not like how busy it is with all sorts of random data floating all over the place. The platform should have a more intuitive feel.
I do not like this platform.

We use Edgenuity Courseware to provide foreign language courses not currently offered in our school. Additionally, we customize some courses for credit recovery - students are assigned what they missed during the class.
There is really nothing to dislike about this program. Edgenuity Courseware offers a variety of coursework for students to choose from. Perhaps it would be nice to offer some more economics courses here as our students are very interested in economics.
We use this program to help our students complete their credit recovery classes. Additionally, students who wish to advance in a particular discipline can take extra courses online. One of the best features of this program is that parents can log on and track their child's progress.
