Replication of data to the cloud is so easy.

The UI needs some more helpful contents.

I used this to replicate my locally deployed SharePoint to the cloud Online SharePoint.

It might be a little over kill for some of the easy jobs. e.g you have to create policy from scratch, so if there is a way to load a default policy that will help save some time.

Extending Office 365 functionalities, Maintaining the SharePoint Admin tasks.

The ease of the interface and configuration. Their tech support has always helped me through troubleshooting or best practices configuration.

DocAve provides granularity down to the file level making it easy restore documents quickly.

I also like the platform backups because it provides DR if my farm were to fail or settings were changed and needed to be restored.

The only issue initially was understanding their best practices for platform vs granular backups.

There are many things to configure when setting it up and we needed their guidance through the process.

When DocAve has an issue they do not allow you access to the backend to resolve (in some cases that’s probably a good thing).

DocAve allows me to feel secure in backing up my SharePoint as well as restoring documents in an urgent situation.

I can segment my backups so it’s easier to restore files and easier to troubleshoot when a backup fails.

It also allows me run more frequent incremental backups throughout the day for more accurate restores. I can then run my differentials at night and full backups on the weekend so as not to cause issue with SharePoint performance.

DocAve helps keep peace of mind by sending reports if jobs were successful or failed so I don’t have to sit and babysit. I can feel secure knowing my SharePoint is backed up and focus on other priorities.

You do not have to monitor the Jobs. they can run in background.

Some compatibility issue is there related to the list view.

From last 4 years, i have been using DocAve as a content migration tool on various SharePoint environment. This tool saves lot of efforts in terms of migration and even you can create reports as well.

Modules within Docave were great like the granular backup restore and Migration tool was helpful

Services kept shutdown causing the services to fail

The discovery reports are amazing! The level of details that each produce is worth so much to be able to prepare for any migration.

It’s quite clunky. The settings are not obvious but you get used to them over time.

When we compared products this was one of the best for our requirements. Be sure to ask questions as the team are super knowledgeable

I very frequently use the remote management capabilities of the tool. With this, I can access services for multiple farms, move content and report status on each farm, and fix security issues in the environment. The tools are a decent experience, despite having a Silverlight front-end.

The license management can get difficult in environments with multiple domains that happen to have different user naming schemas. This is probably not a common problem; but can lead to erroneous seat counts. They provide a mapping tool that can help with this, but if the username design is different, there's not much you can do about it.

This is a great all-in-one tool for managing SharePoint. Other products can provide varying aspects of what this tool provides.

Remote SharePoint management is probably the biggest thing we use it for. This allows us to manage multiple farms without having to log into several different servers. This leads to a decent time savings when checking the status of our environments. Other time savings are security management. When a user leaves the company, DocAve provides a tool that can replicate permissions for one user to another user quickly everywhere in a farm. It also provides a tool that can cleanup disabled users from your environment.

The GUI is very nice and user friendly. It has great access controls to the tool. Really like the cloning feature of users so you don't need to assign permissions to one person but clone an existing persons permissions, which in one sense, provides the new user access to the right sites they need to see.

I can't think of a technical but at times their support personel was hard to get support in a timely manner.

Site collection administration for site admins to audit reports and use of the dashboard reports for site activities that can help the team find out who is doing what , etc.

Easily migrate the sites and user friendly. We also can migrate content as batches and easily can find status of the migration and what is migrated and what not. We also can migrate user permissions separately.

Most of the times Blog sites are not able to migrate with the tool. Job initiation took longer time.

Good ease of use and cost wise. User friendly.

Good support when we stuck with the tool. We can compare source and target of the hierarchy of site collection. We also can easily find the missing content and sites by comparing source and target on the same screen.
