What's most helpful about XL Deploy is being able to see a structured and organized layout of what our applications are, and what versions of those applications are in certain environments. I also like the ability to configure different values for dictionary keys, both in plain text and encrypted, for including in properties files for deploys to different environments.

One of the downsides I've noticed in XL Deploy is a lack of an automatic refresh feature of displaying the most current versions of applications, environments and infrastructures available.

The problems we are solving with XL Deploy are configuring properties for different environments and more fully automating our builds and deploys using Jenkins and XL Release. The benefits we have realized are being able to configure different values for different environments in our applications, as well as possessing a layer for storing data about our applications when releasing our code.

Ease of deployments of almost all prevailing technology packages. Not much is required to be done as XLDeploy prepare all the deployment steps on its own.

Not too user friendly. UI has a lart scope of improvement. Also many simple but useful features can be added to help users.

Possibility to have many configurations, per dev environment for example and being able to update and redeploy quiet easily.

Not being able to simply and smoothly have a dictionary per application package. And the integration with Jenkins although it works fine, passing params is sometimes unintuitive.

One other thing is that the UI is sometimes sluggish, especially when editing dictionary values.

The main problem we are solving is having different configuration values and files per environment and deploying our packages and we successfully did that.

Integration with existing tech stack and complete infra as code.

It makes work a bit surprising some times

The daily CI and CD needs are being solved by this as we deploy our enterprise applications using XL deploy on websphere and also as a stand-alone application.

In real time , every web application will be configured on multiple servers , XL deploy make easy to deploy in all the severs at a time.

Generally as per business requirements source code is visible to all the users but secured information like password and configuration details will be stored in property files.

XL deploy will provide easy way to deploy on single server as well as multiple servers.

XL Deploy does several things right. A great example is the uploadable zip archive that may have the full app executable, configurations, database content etc... Can use environment specific parameters by using placeholders, fills them up from a key-value table. Has plugin support, mainly for java and .net, deploy scripts are standardized. Can deploy to several environments at a time, say test, development, production.It keeps a detailed version history, including the database, key-value tables. The ability to rollback to an earlier version with just a few clicks is just awesome. The dashboard is pretty good too.

A few problems that still linger are with the custom dependencies. We sometimes got a buggy deps that crashed the build, Also, the dashboard will not always report information reliably. It might show build successful but upon opening detailed status we got to see stack error when the deployment did not work. Some stability issues with plugins need to be solved. All things considered, only the dashboard is the mission critical problem that we have faced.

Should give it a spin. While it is a pain to set up properly, I think the end results just might be worth it.

We can easily deploy to several environments, fast. We use Jenkins for CI and DeployIt to push to our production servers.

With XL Deploy, we can easily repeat complex deployments to vastly different web container without much Hassle. The plugin system augments XL Deploy and covers most of today's requirements, extensibility is always a big plus. Detailed status about every stage in the pipeline helps iron out any issues. Can use packages built with TFS for automatic deployments. Can create a scratch project with simple pipeline. Supports maven. Some of these are great features, some we can live without but we are using it all.

The initial setup is not as streamlined as I would like. Documentation is hard to process. The GUI is a mess, requiring proprietary software to view in a browser. More complex pipelines can not be visualized as easily. Plugin backward compatibility is something I would like rather than fast pace updates that has a specific dependency. Can not replicate actual command line.

Frankly, our release frequency has gone up by several factors. I recommend you to try this out as it is simply impossible that you will get burned if you follow the instructions.

Its customization options are good and it allows you to deploy several environments at the same time.

It says that it is used to speed up deployment while greatly reducing error but it was quite difficult to set up, i might as well use another platform with the same amount of time.

XL deploy has given me the ability to continuously deploy different environments at the same time.

You can customize the tool as per your need.

Documentation is not great. Ambiguous information.

Better to do a poc on your own.

Continuous deployment is implemented with this tool. We also keep track of all our deployments.
