CasewareIDEA actually leverages the latest technology which is an advantage for business analytics and auditors in the financial industry. I love the fact that it seamlessly provides key insights in trends , patterns and allows financial audits to be tailored to the specified need of the audit. It allows transferring of data from other sources to CasewareIDEA making it easier to carry out an audit. It has the more than just the standard tests needed to conduct a Financial Audit and also implements a risk-based sample model. It works in conjunction with Adapt IT and allows us to facilitate the audit from the consolidation phase to advanced analyses phase for any financial audit or business analysis. It includes project management and billing software.

It does require training to use it to the full capacity however that is actually within the norm for any advance business software. It would require training for the usage and there are so many functions that it would require continuous training but once that is facilitated there is no going back to your old audit software I suppose personally.

It resolves the problem of having to use a variation of software to conduct one Audit procedure. It provides a suite of tools to integrate and allow the audit process to be conducted. The reports are indepth and can be extracted from any intuitive interface which is what we require and the standards are in place for usage in South Africa. It identifies trends ,patterns to detect fraud. It detects redundant data and much more.

Sorting of files are Easy and all the handy tools are available at one place. Filters are in varities which makes the results more meaningful and helps in auditing complex data

Interface is not that smooth sometimes various features are not easily accessible. If the company provides a compact user manual it will be a great help to the users

It is very useful if you want to save your time and you want to be productive than go for this software which is good for auditing

I am analysing various financial statements of companies, benefits i received is that various duplicate files are easily identified.

Its easy to import large blocks of data and quickly analyze it. Very user friendly and easy to get up to speed.

Sometimes its easier to export the data to Microsoft Excel to perform a review of the results of queries and analysis.

We are able to analyze entire sets of data instead of having to sample. For example we can analyze the entire data set of journal entries, rather than selecting a random sample. It provides more throughout analysis and a high likelihood of identifying any exceptions or higher risk transactions for further review.

It makes it easy to review massive amounts of data

It takes a little bit of learning to get to the point where you can run queries easily and truly unlock the capabilities of the software.

Being able to analyze large amounts of data. To be able to handle things Excel can not handle.

IDEA is very easy to use and you can learn more functions from use. The IDE is very interactive and encouraging to use. You can be glued in IDEA and not realize that hours are moving - that is how interesting it is to me.

It is difficult to import data from other sources other than sources predefined in the program.

IDEA is the way to go and easy to use. I recommend it any day

It is really excellent to use as it helps me to quickly evaluate data and information, with an advanced, complete vision, for maximum performance, in rapid time analysis, and thus facilitate everyone's cooperation.

I have nothing negative to say, as so far, it facilitates every analysis I need.

As a tax accountant, I use Caseware’s system for certain aspects of my work, such as trial balances. Caseware’s IDEA software is one of the best accounting programs out there for auditing, data discovery and visualisation purposes. The program allows us to effectively present results, anomalies and trends to the companies we audit, for example, and improves the client’s experience, by reducing time spent on data reformatting, due to its data analysis features. I have had a positive experience using this software, which I expect to use throughout a large part of my career.

The software can have some responsiveness issues around data transfer, particularly if you are working through a remove server.

I liked the fact that many clients provide us PDFs and we can convert them into excel format relatively easyily

Sometimes when converting PDFs into excel it would miss line items or certain markers which are a pain to hunt down.

I would keep going at the pace that you have been working at. IDEA is an amazing software that is only getting better.

IDEA is unlike any other software and has so many tools when using data. We use IDEA when performing audits, and while it is somewhat similar to Microsoft excel, it serves a more unique purpose and is much more powerful

It can be a little tricky to learn, but the more you use it the more you become comfortable with it. There are so many tools to learn overtime.
